5o Cent definitely had the biggest impact. When has Jay ever been the hottest rapper. Dmx and 50 cent ran the late 90' and past the torch to 50 into the 2000.
Bigger impact on the game was 50 Cent I think easily. I think Jay has the bigger legacy & has had the longer run obviously. If u wanna talk about bigger impact at the time of their primes, I think 50 changed the game at the time he came in. This dude got signed off mixtapes. He showed up & comers that it’s possible to blow up w/o a machine behind u initially. He also made it where every big artist was putting out mixtapes as promo for their albums. Artists were putting up mixtapes to stay relevant when they didn’t have an album out. Artists had mixtapes out prior to 50, but not to the level of what was happening after 50 blew up. U also have to touch on where hip hop was when 50 came in. It was VERY pop & going towards a “soft” direction. Rappers were into the singing & making commercially popular songs. 50 came in & brought that hardcore gritty street/gangsta back. Idt I’ve ever seen an impact or meteoric raise to superstardom like I did with 50. It feels like it happened overnight. Eminem’s raise was crazy too but I feel like it still took a lil longer for everyone to hop on board. With 50 I feel like everyone hopped on board as soon as he blew.
50 was a movement. Jay z had moments but was never the guy outselling everyone. 50 wins if we're talking globally. He doesn't get the respect he deserves in hip hop. It's his attitude towards people sometimes..but we forget that's why we loved him in the first place.
An awesome video.Anyway, to me both rappers has similar impact on the hip hop scene. With Jayz holding the crown of longevity and 50 of Explosive impact.
I asked my Uber driver (from Montenegro) who his favorite rapper was and with excitement he said 50 Cent. I just happened to have one of 50's books on me and the guy almost lost it. He definitely has more of a Global impact, no doubt.
Jay Z had dropped so many records in the period of '96-'03 and in no point at that time was he the biggest rapper in the game. Jay earned my respect on every level, as a lyricist, song writer, label CEO and as an entrepenuer but it always felt like he had a machine pushing him from the beginning. It's crazy when you think about since Jay started Rocafella since no major label wanted to sign him and from the very beginning he had the likes of Dj Premier and Biggie on his debut. His most successful year was '98 bit that was the year of DMX and No Limit. In '99, Dre, DMX and Em dropped and outperformed Jay's album sales for that year. Jay had to release every year in order to compete, from 2000 onwards it was Em, 50/ G Unit and Nelly running the game. I'll say that there was no year the Jay was considered the biggest star in the rao game, but I respect his grind and conssistency.
Jay-Z had beef with nas and nas even better than 50cent. Jay-Z is the best rapper since 97. Jay-Z made albums every year I bet 50cent can't even do that FACTS

50 cent had the biggest concentrated impact of any artist in hip hop history. Who does NY music sound more like today? Does it sounds more like 50, or more like Jay Z? Clearly NY hip hop today sounds much closer to 50 cent than it does to Jay Z. And with NYC being the heart and birthplace of hip hop, as well as still a massive part of Hip hop Culture, this fact is important. Jay Z is probably the Goat of Hip Hop, but he's rarely been someone's favourite rapper at any point in time. Heck, I've been saying Jay is probably #1 for years, but he's never been my favourite artist in all my years of listening to hip hop. 50 cent was my probably a favourite of mine at a small point in time, and that is because the guy made a much more explosive impact on the culture. 50 is the OG of trap and Drill music, and all those artists credit 50 till this day.
50 ain't started that ..that's cap ...50 changed his style when came down south and was running with Juvie and them ...his flow and style is more southern
Did you just say the Jay has never been anyone's favorite???? You have lost your mind.. He's been my favorite since 2001. He has millions of people who has him as a favorite

The impact is clear. Jay still has hot verses and Emcees all over the world look at him as one of the standards. They have healthy competition as creative business hustlers. As HipHop Emcees it isn’t close. JayZ has influenced the culture and 50 Cents way more. 50 Cents keeps JayZ on his toes. Kinda like how Pepsi does Coke or Burger King does McDonald’s. Either way they’re both very successful and I’m proud of both those dudes.
Yep I like that well said

I am 73 and I will never forget my Mom who was about 80, at the time that "In Da Club" first hit the radio, TV Shows and not to mention playing on radio in cars. My Mom was 80 years young, could not walk well, however. when the song would start to play, she would get up, hold on to her walker and do her very own little dance. This brings such warm memories to my mind. I don't remember any song by JayZ, at this time off the top of my head. To date, I still enjoy "In Da Club"... By far, 50 Cent has my vote big time over JayZ in many ways!!!

50 and Jay Z are amazing and I mean they are amazing people. Even tho we have had a moment I hope you don't hold it to me bc they was not on me. And I'm not calling names
Hi
50 won this argument in the first few seconds of this vid. I grew up in Nigeria and I can confirm that the marketing dollars weren't enough to overshadow fif here
Don’t nobody care about no Nigeria
50 is not wrong the numbers are there... but Jay just hits different and never mind the jab threw at 50 the work jay did made it just a lil bit easier for 50 ...it's like saying I'm faster and stronger than my dad but your dad gave you those legs
They’re both ICONs
Why Fifty look like somebody uncle sitting in that car 🤣🤣

They are both Southpaws, both left handed..people like that are usually creatively artistic..
Jay and 50 are the same but still not, both r heavy on the 48 laws, but Jay mastered it a lil better i think
Anybody else remember the G Unit and Jay-Z mixtape back in the day?
Bruh those chipmunk helium rap is comical af! 😂
I literally paused this video at 13:25 to go listen to Weezy show me what you got... My god he murdered that track and made it his own..
With 50 I feel like everyone hopped on board as soon as he blew.
people missed jay-z. wasn't that big of a hip hop fan but i couldnt miss 50. i think 50 has the bigger impact.
50 has no impact whatsoever LOL
50 was a movement. Jay z had moments but was never the guy outselling everyone. 50 wins if we're talking globally. He doesn't get the respect he deserves in hip hop. It's his attitude towards people sometimes..but we forget that's why we loved him in the first place.
Thank you for this informational & unbiased video
50 locked down NY for a good minute with mixtapes alone, you heard fif music everywhere around that period
50 🐐
The way big look at 50 and said oh my god I know where you going with this
This beef started and stems from How To Rob
If we talking rapping this not close. Jay is light yrs over 50. 50 had a crazy 2-3 yr run tho.

50 always
Power is in authenticity, instead of privilege and status.
Ppl need to know u have to get 50 cent before you reach a dollar, and if you disagree come on holla , holla holla!!!..
I'll say that there was no year the Jay was considered the biggest star in the rao game, but I respect his grind and conssistency.
gay z and drake arent even top 10 loool
Jay-Z had beef with nas and nas even better than 50cent.
Jay-Z is the best rapper since 97.
Jay-Z made albums every year I bet 50cent can't even do that

Then u don't know new York style music and best not mention things that'll discredit your argument.jay z from the old 90s till empire State and holy Grail has new York written all over its production.fifty only ny connect is his early mixtape and grdt but only a few songs.the rest is pop songs.sheeshh niggas with lousy facy
Ny today sounds like ATL and Chicago's drill scene.
@@kc-zf1jp I know some serious hip hop heads, and all throughout our friendships, they always had Jay Z as their #1 all around rapper, but not their favourite artist at any point in time. He'd always be in the top 3 conversation though, but these are just my anecdotes.

50 Cent is only one of dozens of rappers to challenge Jay-Z for the throne, and lose. It's nothing special, every few months is Jay-Z vs Someone. Not long ago Nas put out another project, and just for that, the internet asked if he had overtaken Jay-Z. Then the internet brought up Tupac, again, before that was even over, Eminem vs Jay-Z came up, this week it's 50 Cent, next week it's Lil Wayne.
You are clearly a fan of 50, but you tried.
It clearly shows subconsciously they know Jay is the real deal but because they hate to approve tht fact, they always bring up someone to challenge jay's position in the culture
