social media is so overflown with amazing artists and almost flawless artwork that i find myself resenting "good" art because i am so sick of "perfect" artpieces. the "good" artists dont inspire me anymore but the "bad" artists, the beginners, the unconventional artists DO! their approach to art and exploring new mediums and experimental nature gives me motivation to pick up where i left off. hustle culture really kills innovation and imagination, everyone tries to be the first and get more attention, it's honestly sad
I appreciate you being so vulnerable and talking about mental health! I'm in art school and the relationship with my art has been tricky since it's not just a hobby anymore. Definitely agree with the rest, it does wonders for us all!
hehe thankyou for spilling the tea or more like sipping tea hehe, It was very enjoyable listening to your take on art and other topics related to it. I hope you have a great day
I love your videos, they have such a nice, slow and steady, warm vibes! Anyways, I also like to mention that you bring up great points and problems throughout this video! And yes, it’s super difficult to be in the moment, to surround ourselves with the people we want to be with, and to regulate how we relate our artwork back to us. And half of the time, it could be due to the overstimulating world we inhabit with the constant change and movement, which can largely affect who we think and feel, and it’s good to acknowledge that and change your mindset. So thank you for bringing awareness on issue like this in the art community!
another saku video yayyy i always enjoy your videos >:))) thank u for making this though, i think this is a really important topic for art that needs to be talked about and i definitely see it a lot and sometimes its hard to not fall into that, i try to have a good mindset and this was really helpful for me :)) i hope you have a good day and take care :DD
To Sakura or anyone who sees this comment: I wish I could learn a way to balance life routine with art. I feel worse about myself and my art because I don't have time to draw as much. I can't drop daily events because of all the work or demanding/time consuming hobbies (like running) I have and I would love to hear ways that people find the time to dedicate to drawing. Any tips?
When you talked about being in the present and hustle culture, I imagined your situation being in CalArts. It was your goal and it's pretty difficult to be there! And hustlr culture can make you feel like it's just another step, but college is a big step and it's wonderful to enjoy! We should enjoy our lives and art more and stress less about the future. It's important to be worried about stuff, but you're so right about this topic. I'm rewatching this video because I needed to hear all this stuff again. So helpful!! (づ ˶ᵔ ᵕ ᵔ˶)づ♡
I am working on comic panels while having the flu. I like what you have to say. You are wise beyond your years ❤️ I think I will rest sooner than later Thank you for this video, Dear Artist. ❤😊❤
After studying a lot for yesterday I finally was able to take a longer break and watch the new video woooo The point with taking breaks being productive really hit me. I’ll definitely try to keep it in mind more! Ur videos where you discuss different art related topics are always super insightful to watch
Putting your art idols on a pedestal and then entering a toxic parasocial relationship with their internet persona is soooo not it. The boxes these people put the artists they supposedly support are so small and suffocating. It's dehumanizing to the artist and incredibly ignorant on the fan's part. People are allowed to grow and change. Let them! Move on if their work don't resonate with you anymore... It's that simple! This applies to many things in life, not just the people you admire.

There is no collective improvement anyway. Lots of artists work in corporate environments.
