Who would have guessed 5 years ago that Ricky would be one of the best speakers about disc golf. His practice rounds this year and last year, have been incredible. Ricky is a disc golf sage and explains so well how he game plans, what can help him execute, etc. Just a great human that has been playing high level golf for a decade now.

This is one of the absolute best videos about coaching I have seem.
I’d love some videos of speed training drills for disc golf. Right now my general ideas are plyometrics, but they aren’t disc golf specific.

This is awesome, my friends and I were just discussing this and how I need to not focus so much on what i have improved and switch to speed work. I am also working on my mental game. Last weekend came in top 50% of my division by slowing down and focusing more. Love your videos!

Rick's right, no matter how good you are, there's always something to work on. I'm stoked I've been throwing farther, getting legit birdie looks on some holes that I've never birdied before, only to miss that 30 footer or whatever. That's made me realize I really need to work on my putting now. It never ends!

Great video, might be the best one yet or maybe it was just perfectly timed. I’m currently in the golf portion of my current plateau when I changed my form at the beginning of the season. I know I have potential to be a 980 rated player but I’m stuck at 920. Moved up to MA1 this year and felt defeated losing all the time but I know I’m where I should be and next season I will have a much better chance to coast and enjoy it

Never saw it this way. Danny Lindahl described speed training in the context of throwing your arm off; getting better by brute force. I think when progress is made here, they get bit by the distance bug and.... If you're young, great, but if you're not the cost of every throw seems to go up every year. So, yeah I'm glad I saw this

I found that working on speed drills with 360's specifically- running up as fast as I can ..(even tho I super sucked ass at first ).. it helped me to understand the timing of the reach back and now thro further on my regular walk-ups . EXTREME!!

Can you do a video addressing the mental game? Self talk, decision making, shot selection?
    Keep up the great work!

Great vid thanks. I have definitely plateaued. 2nd year playing and I know I am at the point where I have to self analyze or get lessons. I flip flop so much on how involved I want to get in the sport. For now I just step back and play casually. However I can't lie, I do want to improve.

I want that peak reach back heel down NO ROTATION of lead foot post X. i'm still a robot, I know. But we need to program that foot to not twist early. Then yes i'll do fluidity.
I need to return to the field. Was an excellent video. I learned something very important about feel and speed. I got to write this down

You summed up the process I've been going through since I started working on my backhand 1.5 years ago perfectly. I do a form change. Then I go through a long period where I focus on the change until it's automatic. Then I work on making it smooth which helps my speed with it and then I re learn my dics/game and then make another change. I've gone from the 180 ft I started at to throwing 320 on avg so far and just hit the form plateau and am working on smoothing it and gaining speed. Meanwhile my aim is atrocious but that's next

I am stuck on a par plateau. My distance has improved, my putting has improved and my accuracy has improved . I can still only get to 80% distance of most holes. Typically, my second shot is 40 to 70 feet from the hole, usually around that 50 to 60 foot range. I can now at least run circle 2 putts that I have almost no chance of making. That's better than 100 foot upshots, but still mostly pars. I guess it has helped me turn 1 or 2 bogeys into pars per round. It's just such a frustrating rut. I actually can't wait for the day that I can actually overthrow holes and have to disc down.

It changes things for sure. Every 50’ off the tee is like playing by different rules

This video really clicked for me. After winning MA4, but being middle of the pack in MA3- you really captured the plateau I’ve felt like I’m at. Thanks for a clear direction back to form. This really helps.

I have a very specific scenario in which I can't tell if I should continue drilling the "form well" or move on to the "speed & distance well". I previously had an OT form review over a year ago in which you told me my form was good but that I just needed to "get after it". However, I recently had some sessions with a TechDisc and while my arm speed definitely needs to increase (current avg is 55mph), my nose and launch angles are still very subpar. Nose angle averages +8 degrees while launch averages -4. Should I keep drilling on form or are these okay *enough* to move on to speed? Per the TechDisc simulator, I could hit 400+ (my main goal) if I just increase my arm speed.

      @OverthrowDiscGolf  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

You should work on the nose and launch angle first. Then you’ll need about 60 on techdisc to get 400’

Opening reminded me of when Neo meets the architect. Plateaus. Long and flat, and I'm not smart enough to rise above them alone. This scene where the architect scoffs at Neo for daring to believe was always stuck with me. th-cam.com/video/_3rtFTRItcE/w-d-xo.htmlsi=APcT7nIQQR23BeFB
Either surrender to my pattern, my history and accept my limits. Or choose hope. the other door labeled OT.

Disc Golf is not a game of perfect, not to steal anything from bob rotella or something 🤷🏽‍♂️
