About the male/female gaze: i really dont know. What i do know is that i as a guy liked it a lot and my girlfriend liked it less than me. I mostly liked that it was the opposite of cliché. Its a wild genre mix and seems a bit trashy at times but without ever being low quality. The B-Movie vibe comes from the setting in the 1980s and a hommage to those older movies. Its more arthouse than B-Movie. There are some weird scenes which are all explained by someone being on drugs.
