There is something contradicting about the whole Warhammer world, how do all these chaotic evil factions maintain their logistics to a reasonable level? Weapons (including advanced weaponry), armor, food, clothing and much more need to be produced, maintained and frontline troops can not only depend on sacking/killing for survival. If anything rapid expansion and careless maintenance of needed supplies have been the downfall of many war mongering factions on Earth. Alexander, Napoleon, Hitler, Romans, Huns and many many more have all felt the pain when straying too far from home, terrain and weather only apply more pain to such careless campaigns. Bear in mind that among humans the physically weak often prove to be the most clever, Einstein, Isaac Newton, von Goethe, Da Vinci .. and the list could go on, these are all geniuses who´s main strengths were to sit back and enrich the world with their mind, I believe weak Skaven and Orcs don´t stand much of a chance if they are weak early on. Many civilizations recognized this and benefited from it by protecting those with great minds, those who don´t hardly ever evolve. A certain degree of sanity and intelligence is required to mount a large war campaign, you don´t have to be benigne though, just rational.
I'm sure there must be long periods of preparation and efficient systems of logistics for each faction that don't involve raiding, but the audience simply doesn't get to see it, since the focus of Warhammer, is well, war. For example, I imagine Norsca has cities and kingdoms that trade among each other with the nomadic chaos worshipping tribes of the Hung and Kurgan, as well as the Chaos Dwarves, who spend most of their time mass producing weapons and gear. I don't know that much about the Skaven compared to chaos, but I imagine their treachery and cruelty are reined in enough so as to not cripple their clan/faction, and being something of a meritocracy, their best and brightest probably end up in positions of power.
