Thanks Steven and DCEO team - I learned a lot from our conversation about psychology and how we can improve our own channel. You’re an easy man to talk to and your success is well deserved. It’s clear independent media is a necessity in our rapidly changing world if we are to ensure balanced reporting. Although the bit where I nearly cried should be censored.

Absolutely, no word he speaks is superfluous
At the same time, it can also be a huge talent to paint a full picture using only a few words
Listening to a Scarface track the other day made me realize how equally genius that is. Using 5-6 words a bar ... 😮

Alcohol and cigarettes addiction actually destroyed my life. I could remember several years ago after divorce with my wife which brought me into my disastrous journey on Alcohol and cigarettes. I suffered severe depression and mental disorder. Got diagnosed with cptsd. Not until a friend recommended me to psilocybin mushrooms treatment. Psilocybin treatment saved my life honestly. 8 years totally clean. Much respect to mother nature the great magic shrooms.

I understand; his energy is pure; he is on fire, and that intensity is fueled by his passion to support others, so I can imagine his laser of light, his sword of truth and strong loving focus has sent that light into all the places where dead and dense energy are holding on inside us, as we listen, and this light is clearing, loosening, and dismantling all that no longer serves us. I suddenly fell asleep, had to LAY DOWN...I took a nap for an hour, to allow the energies to move through me. I know that hour nap helped me, as it was playing, and then I went back and listened to the whole thing again, wide awake. Ha. So good!

Russell I read you’re book and I think you’re spot on when it comes to the journey and recovery. I feel exactly the way you describe from childhood to addiction to recovery. I was an extremely heavy user of crack, heroin, and fentanyl. I was deemed unrecoverable. But after 1/4 oz of crack a day, 8gms of fentanyl IV, and thousands of pills later along with 15 fent ODs I got clean. Been a year and 3 months clean. Truly a miracle. If anyone feels like they’re too far gone, believe and trust that you are not. We all have a chance to get clean. Realize this and want it. Want it more than anything else and you will attain it, when you’re ready.

Amen, take it 10 minutes at a time the first week because anyone can do anything for ten minutes, even getting eaten by a friggin' shark cause we know it happens, you too can get through each day at by only staying in the present minutes you are living in. So pray as much as you need to, ask for heelp from whatever resources are available, take lomotil for diahrhea, advil for aches & sleeping med like trazodone will knock you out the first 7 nights. Muscle relaxers for jimmy legs, lots of water & chicken broth too, jello if you can. Then: believe you'll be clean & free because that's a most needed ingredient to do anything = the belief that it's possible. It IS possinle for you & hundreds of thousands prove it daily. You can be free & it may take you a couuple of tries to get it to stick, but you learn more about how to succeed, what to avod each time so if you just keep getting back up, you can not be held down by this, you WILL take back your own life!!

I rarely feel the need to comment on content I watch but this is one if those rare occasions that Im captivated to such a depth I will. I really felt this podcast. The line of questioning flowed like a symphony. The dialogue thought provoking, inclusive and layered with love, hope and meaning. It took me completely out of myself for almost two hours in a way I rarely experience. Russell’s God given gift to articulate abstract ideas poetically with substance that draws identification is mind melting. Also an addict and only 3 days sober again I really needed this. I loved the idea of reverse engineering our own narrative to accrue wisdom even when tragic bring fresh perspective to my recent failings and almost imbues them with layers of love and compassion intertwined with meaning to use as fuel for moving forward. Thank you for this pod cast loved it

Efficient word selection is a bigger skill. Your sentence actually doesn't make sense by the way. No hate, just an observation. @@fitbroomdisagree, he probably is an addict as well who understands both sides. I’ve been through tons more than Russel. When you survive it you can actually learn far more than most people ever will. It is one of the greatest teachers.
He got lucky to get out of that life fairly early. But he always got substitutes in other forms rather than conquering it. Plenty of people have more wisdom but aren’t ever heard from and put into the spotlight. It may very well be you that hasn’t been through enough yet.
I would have a slightly different take than that guy but I can understand where he is coming from. I wouldn’t be so negative I guess, but I get the anger.
The propping people up like this is not healthy either. If you were at the level of some of us then you would not idolize like so many do here in this comment section. It’s just not right.

    • @KathyHussey063
      @KathyHussey063 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +11

@@YourMomsBestBoyfriend Really EVERY one of us is a "one of a kind", literally,, at least as far as we know right now. (There could be multi dimensions wth many more versions of the same ME existing in each 1 for all I know.... but....) So there's nothing wrong with seeing any person as a one of a kind, because they are.
#2) EVEN every addict is still an individual who's FAR different from every other addict or person. "Addict" is a descriptor of a person, one of them but it's not WHO or WHAT the person IS, it is a part of that person, a quality they (at present) may have. So the commenter above who dismissed billions of addicts, that person themselves is likely addicted to something; even if they don't or haven't ever acknwledged it, whether it's a drug, alcohol, tobacco, food, sex, gambling, video games, phone sex, being on the internet, their cell phone or shopping..or something we don't know about yet. It's mankind's battle to NOT become addicted to anything or anyone.
More knowledge is needed about WHY all the addictions happen so easily to so many people, because we need to know more about how to prevent them ever starting and how better to help those who want to quit, because sadly in this country there is NO help if you have NO health insurance, REAL insurance and how many addicts do you think have health insurance or even have full time jobs? Even when an addict does have Healh Insurance it's a good bet that their policy dosen't even cover addiction treatment or rehabs, which charge absolutely RIDICULOUS prices to admit a patient no matter how dire their situation is. They'll send aVERY SICK, near death person (oh wait, they're just an "addict" as the guy said, guess it's easier to think like that than to think about how it's a person, a citizen, or a 19 year old that our government helped to get them addicted by allowing crooked Pharma. Co.'s to lie & push heroin level opiods on mllions across the nation, including hundreds of thousands of young people/ teens (on Soc. Sec.Disability Ins. for healthcare here), but then Conngress sat by allowing hundreds ofthousands to die, not caring about the millions the drug has killed, not providing ANY help for citizens whose lives were ruined by the drug they intentionally alllowed to ravage poor annd sick people, to get off the opiods now. So called rehabs send VERY SICK, near DEATH people off to Emergency Rooms, where they'll give them something to stabilize them JUST ENOUGH to get them out of the Em. Room's doors, and bck home, if they have a home... they wake up in withdrawal again.
I understand the anger they might be feeling, many addicts do a lot of horrible things. I myself have been put through hell in my lifetime by a few addicts who did different things to me or my loved ones, but it's far more complex issue than lumping them into one category & condemning them.
If you've ever been addicted to anything then you know why and if a person has not & they do not even try to put themselves in another's shoes to see the immense suffering they're going through at all, that most had no idea they were getting themselves into until it was too late to avoid it....
Well often there are hard lessons ahead for those who can not have any compassion.

Do you really think if he was as bad as they're making him out to be now, that he would've somehow come out of the "times up" movement unscathed; like he did....to then give this interview & suddenly be attacked days later, this many years since the supposed incidents are said to have happened?
I'm not saying whether or not he ever did any disgusting behavior; I have no way to know for sure but I will say that I believe ALL famous people, who stay in favor with the general public, have participated in behavior that'd make us barf. They're treated like gods, even if they may be some of the worst humans to ever exist, they're allowed to do whatever they want to, to whoever they want to do it, solely due to the huge amounts of money they have & make for the companies/rich people they work with. So who knows what he may've done, but..................
notice that as long as he kept his mouth shut about how: foreign owned corporations or conglomerates & some within our government (via clandestine operations) have methodically taken over most of the control of America's essential services (through stock takeovers etc.) like our water, electrical grids, satellites, interstates, trucking organizations, hosptals, cable, internet, oil fields & more, via multi billion dollar bids on government contracts given to foreign entities til we've lost control now over our own infrastructure, all we built with the people's money, meant to benefit us, cause we no longer own them, while also huge swaths of America (homes, apartment buildings, land) has been bought up by China now (that's why property values soared for a few years as they did)......... But til he blasted the truth about that & more, til he said unite, we're not each other's enemy & that governments do not care about our lives, he was not accused.... but the moment he he spoke out suddenly accusations came ?? It's too obvious what's going on there.

One of the most powerful meditations I’ve ever heard was from Russel. I listened to his meditation and he said “forgive yourself. Forgive yourself for the mistakes you’ve made. You made mistakes and it’s ok. You’re still enough” and honestly that HIT me like a ton of bricks. Russel is such an inspirational character and he symbolises so many of us. What a guy. I literally went through the same changes he went through as far as needing spirituality to handle life. Still in it in fact and he said some things that I’ve been thinking but couldn’t express and the fact he said you have to be specific made me appreciate poetry and wordplay in a whole different level, I am going to hit the books and become better at expressing myself. I find myself having a lot of problems with the people I love not knowing how to communicate my thoughts and always blamed it on not really knowing how I feel. I believe I’m wrong and will do this instead.

I have some similarities w Russell as many do. Addict from age 14, entered rehab at 30, was a cutter, had a series of relapses over several yrs at lesser and lesser intervals until eventually doing my last drug in April of 2019. People who I still see in that cycle I just pray that they can survive themselves...or long enough to finally achieve clarity, which does not come until it comes. I'm now 56. Now I sit in frequent fear, depression, anxiety, but I prefer it to being on drugs. Maybe somewhat like RB I found some salvation in reading...everything. Fiction, non fiction. A few thousand pages a month on average. Today when I went to get my coffee, the clerk at 7-11 told me he picked up extra shifts because he knows he is a danger to himself when not working. Hats off to that man and I pray for calm and solace for him.

Oh my goodness. Russell just perfectly described my feelings when he said 'I realised I'd been having an anxiety attack my whole life'. I may have been happy when I was very little, but I can't remember. From the time/age when I can remember, my parrents fought, finally split & it took 8 years for them to get divorced, because of a change in the law, halfway through the proceedings. It was a very turbulent time. My Mum left home a couple of months before I started senior school. We moved home that year too. Internally I was a mess. This was 1968 & suddenly, the boys in big school were scary. They bullied the girls, a lot. They sexually assaulted us on a regular basis & we never thought to report it, because nobody had ever taught us that it was wrong. So we put up with it, even though it made me a bag of nerves every day at school. Then, when I was 15, I was raped by a middle aged Man. I became pregnant & had to undergo an abortion. Another very traumatic time. I was living with my Mum by then & kept what happened from my Dad, as he would have blamed her. And finally, I will get to the point (apologies for the long ramble). Ever since then, I have always been on edge, because you never know what is around the next corner. I've lived my life in perpetual fear. It didn't necessarily show on the outside, in fact I was a bit of a clown. But I noticed the fear for the first time, while sitting on a bus. I suddenly became aware that I was clenching my buttocks. Then realised that every part of me was tense. It was like a type of locked in syndrome. Throughout my life, that has never changed. If I put my mind to relax, I can manage it, but my default position is where every part of my body is tense. It's no wonder that I suffer a lot of cramps. The rape was followed by disastrous relationships & now, I am 66 & what Russell just said, was a sort of lightbulb moment. I've obviously always known that I've been on edge for what seems like forever, but hearing his words, just summed it up perfectly.

Steven, thank you for your podcast. Your interview questions are brilliant and significant. I love you. Now, I could listen to this particular video with Russell over and over again. One of the most meaningful interviews that has resonated directly with me. How Russell has turned his life around is commendable. I can relate to all of it deep within my head and in my heart. Russell is real, smart, brilliant and inspiring. I cried, that is how much it meant to me. I wrote a book about my experiences, and it helped me get the narrative out of my head and onto paper, but now I realize that I held back avoiding going to deep into certain events. I didn't want to be viewed as a victim. I found strength to go through my life wearing a smile, all the time holding my tears. Now in my 60s, I am beginning to understand why I did some of the things I did. I just wanted to be loved, something I never felt growing up. Russell, I love you, spiritually, with all my heart. 💝

Since I was so "needed" at my job, I gradually began to miss meetings and eventually eased myself out of the program and fellowship completely. If I'm honest, my life was happiest when I was involved and actively practicing the spiritual principles. I'm looking to ease myself back in to living more like I was then and found this talk very inspiring. I recently moved and would like to find that group of people again and get back to it. Now 30 years later I practice the principles Russell is talking about to stay centered and out of my own way. The path is simple but not easy however it allows me to be at peace most days. I found your channel by accident and now I'm a subscriber..you're doing great stuff Steven Thank you!

So true. Dude is a modern day bard.. his talks on his channel helped me get out of addiction so I can't describe how much I admire him. Sadly his movies also inspired me to try drugs and alcohol as a teen lol I had a crush on him at 15 so I thought anything he does (in movies... I lived in neglect and movies "taught" me about reality), I should do.... not good. And then his perspective helped me get out 😂

What I loved about this interview was the moment he talked about his kids and the mask slipped, the complex flowery language evaporated, he was filled with love, with emotion and for a few seconds he was being real. Just like one of us, dads, mums, recovering people. i think that's the real him. I have warmed to him. Fascinating guy.

Being an Addict myself and went through AA and NA the doctrine that Russel has adopted and fully immersed himself in is very apparent. Self acceptance and living in the moment were concepts that i had to work at and practice to feel ok with. The only things that i have power over are my emotions and my actions. Clean your side of the street before you attempt to clean any other street. has given me serenity and peace

Yes I know a few people that say they can't stand him but I'm sure they've got an old outdated idea of him as his younger self when he was more ego driven. I've always been fascinated by him as a character personally. The combination of his ego (which he's well aware of and can make fun of now) and his deep driving desire to find greater meaning in life and his exploration of spirituality really resonates with me. I think he is very special and the world would be a better place if we could all engage in life a little more like him.

Same here, I thought he was just some wannabe, then I came across one of is podcasts. Blew my mind and just goes to show how the media can portray a person so negatively and that we are so willing to judge. He touches my heart so deeply, there's something incredibly vulnerable and soulful about him and there's no doubt that he is completely sincere and honest.

I had previously dismissed @RussellBrand as a self help guru seizing on his fame to make a buck. But I gave this vid a shot and … was shocked. He is fully loaded, no slack there. I found myself stopping and backing up to catch what he said, then pausing every few moments to consider it. It’s as if the universe gave me pause until I was ready for this level of intensity concerning the message we all must understand. I can’t explain it. If what he is saying doesn’t make sense, then back up and try again. Pure truth here.
