I went down on my 2001 KLR250 also, when I overcooked a corner on a gravel road. I couldn't avoid running into the ditch. I was thinking, Oh crap, this is going to hurt. Luckily the ditch was covered with very thick moss. Not only did I not get hurt, but the KLR was not damaged at all! Not even a bent lever or mirror or anything. It was like going down into a giant marshmellow. I was about 50, so healing takes a lot longer.
Ya, this bike is OK on offroad IF you have nobbys. It's heavy but it's not a dirt bike by all means. People call it a dual sport but the thing imo is made for roads (or maintained roads). Glad you weren't hurt.
Good to have a pair of dirt and street tires, similar to how I have a pair of dirt and sand tires for my dirt bike. The bike handles fine on trails with dirt tires, at least for me. And the DRZ is like that too on street tires. Slips on almost every corner
Thanks man I love mine too but I haven't done any mods to it really, its all stock. I'm thinking about upgrading to a 450 supermoto this year if I have the money.
RajFallen I have the same identical bike and everything color bag etc. all the same like I stole it nearly lol mines got right at 9k miles and need to figure out how you got that much power.
My front tire washes out underneath me too. In the most unsuspecting places and speeds. I'm thinking of putting a wider front tire or something more aggressive on the sidewalls. I'm running 90/90 21 continental twinduro tkc80.
did you hit a hole? Kinda what it looked like. Also looks like someone was trying to send you a message by parking their wheelchair in front of your bike LOL. Nice bike, stay safe.
I have a 97 klr. They really are hard to get the front wheel up. They don't have a lot of torque. I've upgraded the exhaust and re-jeted the carb. Thinking about dropping a tooth on the front sprocket.
if anyone was wondering.... this is how a dual sport motorcycle should be used.
Well...she told you to be careful

@@kushpaladin I can solve it for you. Ride a wheelie every where you go! :) Take care bud.
Are you using the clutch to get the front wheel up or does the power of the bike do it
sick! you are gettin it. Did you jet your bike out? What else have ya done? looks like ya got great power. luv my KLR jr.

I own a KLR 250 too but i can't do a wheelie with it. How do you do that?
dump the clutch hard as fuck in second and pull up and stay on the throttle
+RajFallen LOL you might want to tell him to cover the rear brake too!
Fussssssel. on that bike you rev the tar out of it and dump the clutch.
I don't use the clutch to get mine up..
