Imagine that the family members of the victims of a serial killer got together to talk about there struggles and realized that the wife of said serial killer was in the room listening to all of it. Would it still feel like a safe space to share and heal? People defend Debbie because they feel attached to her but it makes no sense to expect the victims of her husband to put her feelings before they're own. She trauma dumped on the guy in 20 seconds and he was supposed to be an angel about it?
I do think what he did was shitty. She clearly didn't know what he did and it was obviously hurtful to her. But I can understand why he felt that way, especially sense it was very suddenly revealed.

And he was right about it not being safe for her to be in the support group. Her presence would be disruptive and counter productive. The needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few kind of thing. I do oppose the idea that she should've known about Omni-man; no one ever really knows anyone. Also the idea that losing a marriage or a relationship is just as bad as losing someone to murder is...weird. I've been through both and i can say, death is worse. One day you're fine the next you think of all the things they'll never see, the children they'll never have, the life that's been taken. What makes invincible so great is that you can see everyone's perspective: Cecil is a manipulative bastard but he wants to protect his nation; Atome eve can do anything, but should she; even Nolan wants to be a loyal soldier for his people, but now realize that the Viltrumites colonisation policies are anti-life. It's shades of grey all over. It's great.
What I love about this show is they managed to take multiple issues of the comics that could easily be 20 to 30 minute episodes on their own, fit them all into 45 minutes, and somehow NOT feel rushed! Also I loved the fact that just like in the comics the narrator kept trying to give the heroes privacy when they would have sex by trying to switch between stories, but when both couples where hooking up he panicked and just kept talking outside Allen’s room. And all the questions Amber had about having sex with someone as powerful as Mark are questions I’ve always had about Superman and Lois Lane!🤣🤣🤣

I can vouch for that, I did some months of night shifts, couldn’t sleep in the day, one time I felt so bad like I’ve never felt before, and just after I went back to days I got fibromyalgia for my efforts which I’m still dealing with years later.
I know about certain things that happen in the comics but man Allen's death actually made me cry ngl, he's probably my favourite character besides mark or eve. This episode was so damn good, It's about to get crazy the next few episodes tho. Also the music this episode was top tier.
I completely sympathize with Theo (partner of Alanah). While it hurts that he turned down Debbie, he's also still hurting from when Omniman did-- as is everyone else in the world and likely many in the group more acutely. He was curt but also truthful in saying it wouldn't be a safe space if Debbie returned. Just as a support group for abuse victims might not appreciate the spouse of the abuser that specifically hurt them showing up. What sucks for Debbie is that superheroes are so rare that you can't easily find another support group like you could in the real world for addiction/abuse/other issues. Ultimately, it's just a sad situation- Debbie tried holding it in and it hurt her and Mark. She then did the opposite and blurted out all her trauma but that also hurt her.
@@toriboy25 very true, but he is the asshole here. His feelings are legitimate but they had a first name only rule for a reason and this dipshit takes her out for a drink after her first meeting and dumps all of this on her. HE is the ASSHOLE here and also right. It's fucked up.
I always thought the Amber hate was unwarranted. You could say she was unreasonable with her anger towards Mark at the college if she knew he was Invincible, but she was also a teenager whose boyfriend lied to her for 6 months. But I don't think she's neutered this season. It think it's a natural progression after what happened with Omni-man, something like that would make anyone reevaluate things. And it seems obvious they've been talking about what Mark being a superhero means for their relationship.
i thought they wrote the character to showcase zazie beetz a bit, but i guess it rubbed some people the wrong way. she was basically lois lane pre-identity in season 1 in how she was more of a foil for mark and now she's lois lane post-identity in season 2 and is maybe too understanding of a gf.

I’m so so glad Kat pointed this out - Any one else kinda thrown off my ambers character? It just doesn’t feel really consistent from season 1 right now. I’m not saying how dare she be supportive, but it feels like since she got so much backlash from season 1 they just made her one dimensional. Just happy to support mark. Like where’s her spice her sass ? It’s almost like the writers said oh shit we didn’t mean for her to get backlash let’s just make her supportive!! I’m not saying I DONT like her, I’m saying they changed her to be more likable. I’m just pointing out she IS different from last season.
They didn't retcon or change anything. She has 2 issues in the first season: 1. He was largely absent and 2. She felt they were close enough and in love enough, that he should have told her about his being a superhero. You can disagree with when was the best time for Mark to reveal his secret but those were her only issues. To be clear, I also disagree with her on that. But beyond that she was always a good person and gave absolutely no hints that she wouldn't be supportive of his saving lives. That secret got resolved by the end of the season and she watched what happened with his father, then time has also passed. There is nothing else that suggested that she wouldn't be a good partner. Just because she had one issue (the lying) doesn't mean her being nice is a change. She was always nice but was being eaten up by the feeling that she wasn't trusted enough. The whole (specifically, internet) reaction to her was so overblown that now people are making things up in order to explain the reality: that she's a chill person who had a disagreement, then that disagreement has passed, and so now she's (mostly) chill 24/7 like normal. Some people act like she shot someone in season 1. It's wild.
7:45 Expected one of them to say "Ah yes "Viltrumites" the alleged indestructible and super powered control freaks who want to dominate the entire universe...we dismissed that claim" 😂
Episode 4 should be the best episode yet considering where a few of the storylines are & some knowledge of the comic book; they got some CRAZY options or they can completely change it up. I'm so excited for the next one.
Yh Amber has a lot of hate and Robert Kirkman said they made a mistake having her say she knew he was invincible, so I think they're trying to move past that. Zazi feels like she's even playing her different tbh. I always thought the hate was a bit much. This episode was crazy good and I am excited for this week's episode!

That couple of galaxies line greatly increases Omnimans assumed top speed given it was previously based on him getting to the nearest star.
