It was a miracle we walked out of that Nobby. We are planning on getting another van as long as the insurance doesn't go through the roof as a result of this smash.

Oh David thank you. We were so sorry when we remembered your lovely gift all scattered over the van, not that i saw owt, I was out of it. We are slowly getting better, but it must have shaken us about because I am covered in bruises and Pat has aches and pains popping up every day. Sorry it has taken me so long to answer this but we have never had so many messages before.

Ah Zoe, a lady after my own heart, you worry if you're going to upset us with your words, that's lovely, I have finally met someone of like mind. We are pleased to welcome you to our little channel, which has just recently grown a lump on it, but I think it is only temporary, and will go away in due course when everyone realises were just a couple of boring old farts, but we hope you won't be one of them Zoe. It is so sad that our home for the past six years has suddenly been demolished, but fortunately we are not demolished, however, our vanlife might be because I doubt we will be able to afford to replace the van and pay the increased insurance which is bound to follow us after the accident, but Pat and I are trying to come up with some kind of alternative, but as yet we don't know what. Oh that's how my brain is working at the moment Jackie. Someone else said they watched the video of the crash and I thought there was another video of the crash circulating, but she meant the video we put up about the crash. I am just so confused at the moment, just not thinking straight.
Just glad that your both OK.Let the insurance sort anything out and when your ready have a good look for another van as it's what you both love doing. It has to be said though that the roads are getting worse traffic & condition wise and some of the idiots on them even worse!

We pay most all of our working lives, or should do, for just these occasions, and then they go into gear and perform incredible feats on our behalf. It has been the envy of the world for most of my life, and this occasion was no exception.
Thank god you're both ok, it must have been terrifying for you both. Bad news about the van but it's replaceable. Look after yourselves. Hope it's all sorted quickly with the insurance.
It has been very strange, and I care little for the van, I don't know why. I would never have been able to sort the insurance out, I have never made a claim in my life, and I honestly don't know how Tracey did it, she is such a tower of strength and wisdom.
The van will have been taken to a secure compound until the police have checked it over and after a while you’ll be able to go and collect all of your stuff or else they’ll send everything on to you.
I'm so pleased you are both OK. Must have been a nightmare. I don't know what is with drivers in this country, we nearly got wiped out on Wednesday in ours on the A2. Someone tried overtaking us on the inside for no readon just after we had got off the ferry. It's only my husbands evasive action that saved us from going totally over and that nothing was on our outside! That was scary enough - you must have felt like a sitting duck with that car coming towards you. Hope you get back on your feet soon.
Hi Dianer. Rush rush rush, that's the problem, everybody under pressure. It was like slow motion, I kept moving left onto the grass banking to avoid him, but he kept coming straight at me, he didn't break or swerve, he must have hit us at sixty miles an hour. I have seen a film of it, and the impact lifted the van off the ground and the van finished up against the edge. In the film it all happened so quick, but to me it took ages, and I never heard or felt the impact. Pat did, but thankfully she was over on the nearside of the van and escaped the full impact.

So glad you are both ok. What type and color of car / van was it ? My Dad had a similar incident the same day not too far away. He said it seemed to be playing chicken with him, and then the car behind him. It deliberately crossed onto the wrong side of the road ! Devastated for you both and Twat ❤
People keep telling me it was a Ford transit, but to me it looked smaller than a transit, more like a Peugeot partner size, but a Ford. It was a dark colour, like a slate gray I think, but I could be wrong. What you are describing sounds fearfully like this van though.

@@ChrisandHeathervanlife That's very helpful Chris. Our main concern is that after the accident insurance companies are going to cane us, especially considering my age, and I am 80 in two and a half years when it will go up again. It all makes me wonder if our vanlife days are over.
I had a collision with an elderly lady who was having a heart attack...sorry.."medical incident",..she was dying as I opened the driver's door. My campervan was eventually written off after six weeks.....despite the other insurer admitted liability two weeks after the collision....

Had we been in a car, it would probably have killed us. We are so thankful we are getting well again.

We are pleased to welcome you to our little channel, which has just recently grown a lump on it, but I think it is only temporary, and will go away in due course when everyone realises were just a couple of boring old farts, but we hope you won't be one of them Zoe.
It is so sad that our home for the past six years has suddenly been demolished, but fortunately we are not demolished, however, our vanlife might be because I doubt we will be able to afford to replace the van and pay the increased insurance which is bound to follow us after the accident, but Pat and I are trying to come up with some kind of alternative, but as yet we don't know what.

Just glad that your both OK.Let the insurance sort anything out and when your ready have a good look for another van as it's what you both love doing. It has to be said though that the roads are getting worse traffic & condition wise and some of the idiots on them even worse!

It has been very strange, and I care little for the van, I don't know why.
I would never have been able to sort the insurance out, I have never made a claim in my life, and I honestly don't know how Tracey did it, she is such a tower of strength and wisdom.

Hi Mike, I have heard that, but this was unusual, he just deliberately drove straight at me, never braked or steered away.
The van will have been taken to a secure compound until the police have checked it over and after a while you’ll be able to go and collect all of your stuff or else they’ll send everything on to you.

I'm so pleased you are both OK. Must have been a nightmare. I don't know what is with drivers in this country, we nearly got wiped out on Wednesday in ours on the A2. Someone tried overtaking us on the inside for no readon just after we had got off the ferry. It's only my husbands evasive action that saved us from going totally over and that nothing was on our outside! That was scary enough - you must have felt like a sitting duck with that car coming towards you. Hope you get back on your feet soon.
Hi Dianer. Rush rush rush, that's the problem, everybody under pressure.
It was like slow motion, I kept moving left onto the grass banking to avoid him, but he kept coming straight at me, he didn't break or swerve, he must have hit us at sixty miles an hour. I have seen a film of it, and the impact lifted the van off the ground and the van finished up against the edge. In the film it all happened so quick, but to me it took ages, and I never heard or felt the impact. Pat did, but thankfully she was over on the nearside of the van and escaped the full impact.
I'm sorry to hear what's happened to you guys, ladies. and gentlemen. But I do hope you might be able to get a replacement camper van soon.

So glad you are both ok. What type and color of car / van was it ? My Dad had a similar incident the same day not too far away. He said it seemed to be playing chicken with him, and then the car behind him. It deliberately crossed onto the wrong side of the road ! Devastated for you both and Twat ❤
People keep telling me it was a Ford transit, but to me it looked smaller than a transit, more like a Peugeot partner size, but a Ford. It was a dark colour, like a slate gray I think, but I could be wrong.
What you are describing sounds fearfully like this van though.

@@ChrisandHeathervanlife That's very helpful Chris. Our main concern is that after the accident insurance companies are going to cane us, especially considering my age, and I am 80 in two and a half years when it will go up again. It all makes me wonder if our vanlife days are over.
I had a collision with an elderly lady who was having a heart attack...sorry.."medical incident",..she was dying as I opened the driver's door. My campervan was eventually written off after six weeks.....despite the other insurer admitted liability two weeks after the collision....
Also, on a lighter note. I’m glad never asked who the current prime minister is .
