Great, deep, a little bit post-modernistic movie. With amazing characters. My only complaint is the quick transition in the middle, where Joan is captured. Milla was perfect for the role. I rewatched it 20 years after I saw it as a kid. And I was shocked by the level of the movie. Besson showcased great talent during these times.
@@jeanmarienadal7268 It's an incredible movie. Get over it and watch it. You wont regret it. Btw Dustin Hoffman's character turns out to be different than you may think
People hated her version of Joan of arc because they've portrayed her as a religious fanatical with serious psychological problems but honestly leaving aside the legend, the romanticism and the divine superstition, speaking with logic that's what she actually was, a teenager with serious psychological problems involved in nothing more than a political matter
Wow, she's changed a lot. Not appearance-wise, but her attitude and speaking style. She's very girly here, soft-spoken and all. Nowadays, she's this badass free spirit. Seems like years of playing Alice has had quite an influence on her.
Links de acessibilidade It seems to me that the actress did not read about the life of Joana Darc and only testified in the interview, the profile disassociated from the reality that the film showed of the saint. She omits the visions of Joana Darc that were really proof of her gift, like the meeting of the sword in the tomb of Santa Catarina, having its location as the result of a vision. It seems that the question of Joan being chosen, of having made her gift available to God and of changing France's history was irrelevant. It seems that she wanted more to denigrate Joana Darc to emphasize her "defects" of personality than to make the character who gave her life in the name of faith more ruthless. I suggest reading the book Joana Darc by Leon Denin
Sorry, but I personally hold Milla Jovovich's movie of Joan of arc responsible for people believing that Joan of arc was schizophrenic now a days and that she may have had epilepsy as well.
'Schizophrenia' means 'I am able to hear', so schizophrenia is definitely real, the question is: where are the voices and visions coming from? Ask any millionaire and they'll tell you about the invisible world all around us.
She didn‘t understand anything and very strange telling about the gorgeous character she played. Jeanne was fanatic and had to find a meaning in her Life? Full of illusions and the people were crazy at that time? How disrepektful, superficial and arrogant is that?
Excellent film, up until the introduction of the D. Hoffman character and the subsequent trial(?) Whatever they were trying to convey with that ridiculous transition failed. Bad choice by the director. Her performance was magnificent throughout!
Lots of nonsense here. Historians have pointed out that the "trauma" shown in the film is fictional since Joan's sister was never raped and killed by English troops. The film's depiction of Joan's visions, trial, and Joan herself bear little resemblance to history. Jovovich's views on the period are insulting. She's also mispronouncing "Jeanne" (or "Jehanne" in medieval French).
Mate, chill. It's not a historical monograph. It's a movie inspired by history. Btw, did you see that Tarantino killed Hitler in Inglourious Basterds? What a scandal!
The church is one dimensional? Really? Ah this is what we get when a nonreligious actress plays a Catholic saint in a secular Hollywood movie. When I was young I didn't think there was anything wrong with her portrayal. I actually got inspired when I watched the movie! Now that I'm older and have become a renewed Catholic, I can indeed see where the others are coming from since I rewatched the film. They did show her as someone with a mental illness. How sad but that's how the world sees saints because there aren't a lot who pray daily, go to confession frequently and attend daily mass. We always look at people as crazy when we do not understand them. Maybe even Mother Teresa of Calcutta would be considered crazy by non-Christians in the far future despite all the good she did in the world. Pray the rosary and pray for conversion of sinners folks. That's the best thing we can do to help change the world.
Wow, she's on some pretty heavy drugs here. This movie is criminally underrated tho. Critics at the time didn't like seeing Joan as anything but a saint and hero of the Christian faith and gave it poor reviews. Fast forward to today where Christianity is looked down on, and critics score movie reviews based on woke politics and racist ideologies instead of the quality of the film. What a complete 180 in just 20 years time, wow
What a shame to listen such a great actress talk in such a despective way about her own character, specially about such an important and iconic historical character as Joan of Arc. In her own words she played as an insane and fanatic ignorant person that has been overrated through history. Nothing of love from her for the beautiful Joan and her history, her role in the movie now just seem as a money issue, so sad...

Eau R: Ive never seen the movie because of Dustins words in the trailer...it scares the hell out of me.

@@lucasnicolasleguizamon98 You mean Dustin Hoffman's character at the end of the movie isn't her conscience but Jesus Christ

Well she was burned as a witch then ordained as a Saint. I think given her circumstances leading an army so young she would have some ptsd too.
Watching her version now and she seems in sane. A true fanatic Bible basher she portrayed it as
oh god what a natural actress, and so intelligent

+I like Beer she very well might be, but cocaine doesn't drastically change your voice does it. a life long use could but yeah

To this day, I'm still wondering if she actually cut her hair or it was just a wig in the movie...
Милла такая крутая в роли Элис
I really hope Milla has woken up by now. This is sad and obnoxious.

This has not aged well at all. Her lack of education shows, and Hollywood's "pick me" shines brighter the more time passes.

Moving like a snake throughput the whole video....notice that?

I take it Mila is not a believer.
she doesn't know anything about the real story. Shouldnt have played the part, only a pretty face.
