Lynda Benglis revolutionized the medium of painting. She turned abstraction into a physical, sensual sculptural reality by pouring electric-colored latex directly onto the floor where it pooled into large organic shapes. Her work was called anti-form. She also began a series of what she called “sexual mockeries” and scandalized the artworld with a nude ad in Artforum magazine. Raised in Louisiana bayou country, she was part of the SoHo art scene since her 1964 arrival. We are just beginning to catch up with her.
