I knew a bunch of the play style was straight out of ASBR, but then I saw that he only gets a double jump when he’s Stand On, just like HFTF… That is some dedication.
12:46 I think its just cause most of the characters are hunched over and crouching. If you correct their posture, the difference is less noticeable. I think Cell, Cooler and a few others stand mostly upright.
It's also probably due to the fact that almost every protagonist or villain in JJBA is between 6-7 feet tall, while many characters in DBZ are not. His height seems reasonably accurate, especially considering your point that he is standing straight while the majority of the cast maintain a lower stance.

It's such an unimportant detail, but that makes Araki's absolute dedication to bringing attention to it all the more entertaining.
This Dio is rocking Johnathan Joestar's body, and that guy was an absolute unit who was massive in his teens. I can def believe the size difference here
Give the DBFZ modding scene a couple more years, and this will become the unofficial "Shonen MUGEN" fighting game on PC. There is more than enough games to get characters from with decent art styles to work with.

Coming from an animator and game designer perspective; manually animating things like this is meditative, as it's one of very few aspects of game design that's actually enjoyable - it's the programming to stitch everything together that's irritating...

Of course, if one were to stick every single Mugen character ever created into a single roster most of them wouldn't match, but you can't really blame Mugen for that. People are free to create stuff; you can't exactly expect everyone to go forth and independently create matching things. In the exact same way that fighting games as a whole don't have a singular, overall matching art style between games, Mugen doesn't have a singular, overall matching art style in its stuff either
This mod just made me realize the crossover potential Arcsis Style has, literally every Shonen Jump manga in existence can be translated to this style of Cellshading. Imagine having finally a proper 3 vs 3 fighting game with all of the Shonen Jump giants instead of the usual Battle Arena.

Man i was still reeling that DIOs VA plays a villain character in the character story event in GFL2 and now I see hes in the defacto Dragon Ball Z Fighting game. Theres truly no escaping this godpire man thing regardless of medium.
I played alot of Jojo's Allstar Battle Royale recently and even got the platinum on PS5 and I can tell every animation borrowed from that game lol like every couple seconds I'm watching I'm like "Omg its that move! or OMG he got that combo in here!?" the detail and work in this mod is insane, absolutely amazing job to kongmeng!
This might in my opinion be the best mod charachter i have ever seen in a fighting game like it legit looks official. Huge praise to the creator of the Dio mod you did an incredible job.
It's neat that most of the moveset's animations are based directly on ASB, and yet all it takes is the simple change of giving it that "low frame rate" effect and the drawn smears for the visuals to basically perfectly match DBFZ's style
What blows my mind is that things like the stand on/off movesets, special canceling to attack alongside your special and timestop that lets you move around rather than just being a visual effect in a super aren't mechanics that exist in this game. I can't even begin to imagine how much work went into implementing this kind of functionality into the code, much less doing so without breaking anything.
Same energy as Goku being played in Strive You just love how silly it is seeing someone who doesn't belong in that fighting game, but I think it's even funnier that DIO fits really well with the shaders I wouldn't have mistaken him as a guest character, that's how good the mod is

Man i was still reeling that DIOs VA plays a villain character in the character story event in GFL2 and now I see hes in the defacto Dragon Ball Z Fighting game. Theres truly no escaping this godpire man thing regardless of medium.
I played alot of Jojo's Allstar Battle Royale recently and even got the platinum on PS5 and I can tell every animation borrowed from that game lol like every couple seconds I'm watching I'm like "Omg its that move! or OMG he got that combo in here!?" the detail and work in this mod is insane, absolutely amazing job to kongmeng!
This game NEEDS a clone engine in it. So Dio and Cell can fight each other.
This might in my opinion be the best mod charachter i have ever seen in a fighting game like it legit looks official. Huge praise to the creator of the Dio mod you did an incredible job.

4:16 Respect! Asura is my favorite custom MVC3 character and this custom DIO does look as sick as that.
It's neat that most of the moveset's animations are based directly on ASB, and yet all it takes is the simple change of giving it that "low frame rate" effect and the drawn smears for the visuals to basically perfectly match DBFZ's style
What blows my mind is that things like the stand on/off movesets, special canceling to attack alongside your special and timestop that lets you move around rather than just being a visual effect in a super aren't mechanics that exist in this game. I can't even begin to imagine how much work went into implementing this kind of functionality into the code, much less doing so without breaking anything.
Man, imagine if we could make new character slots for modded characters. imagine the possibilities...
