    Came across this channel 4 hours ago,and got stuck. I was lucky enough to be working on a farm for a couple of years here in Norway,and working the fence was one the highlights for me.

    Good job enjoyed it....when i run fencing barb-wire ...i'm digging holes, pounding in t-posts, running barb wire and tightening it all by myself. Your gang makes it look easy with all the heavy equipment and extra helping hands.

    Hi mate...🇦🇺
    Nice job in the fence..👍
    We just finnished running 300 km's new fence line.. wish we could just drive our star pikets in with a skid loader.. here we use a modified jack hammer to drive our star pickets you referred as t-post. Our end braces are fabricated from old steel railway line and steel sleepers...

    It has been a very busy day on my end, I just watched this video, and not only have you brightened my day, I must admit, I really enjoyed this video. Don't ask me, I just did. Great job on the fence. It was like clockwork going up. And I want to throw a shout out to dad, when he said "get ready to pucker", I laughed so freeking hard, I was like get me a pamper. I find him enjoyable every time, and his colorful funny quips are awsome. Thanks for the continued and regular videos. I look forward to each one.✌️🌻🌈🌎👍🖖. Professor Dewey L.

    Good video, well done. You guys got a pretty good system. Just one thing I don't understand......why do so many western ranchers still use barbed wire? Personally I hate the stuff, I find it hard to work with, especially winding up an old fence, and it's hard to repair. Plus animals get cut up when they try and go over it, both livestock and wildlife. I'm sure you've all seen udders sliced up or a deer tangled up and hanging over a barbed wire fence. We only use 12.5ga high tensile smooth wire and electrify it, animals respect it more than barbed wire and they don't cut themselves up when they do go over it......and it's easy and quick to repair. And it lasts, we have some 30 yrs old that sill looks and works like new.

    • @SonneFarms
      @SonneFarms  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I personally have never seen udders tore up or an animal caught in barb wire. All I have ever seen is a little hair in the fence. Otherwise, we think the barbed wire is very reliable, quick to put up, and relatively cheap.

    When i farmed years ago, i had one of the first post pounders, it was made by Shaver, and, was mounted to the front of my IH 656. My wife would drive the tractor, and, i would pound in the posts. We used all wood posts, so there were a lot of them. I used the pencil sharpened ones, but, we had hills and uneven ground. The driver had manual adjustment to plumb the driver, so, that the posts would be plumb. It worked great, i used to use my three point auger to dig the corners, which set in cement. I also had a three point cement mixer, it would mix about a third of a yard at a time, and, i could haul the cement to whrere i wanted it. Back in the day, in Minnesota, farmers used to use white oak for the fence posts, they were split, and, they were pretty rot resistant, they tended to rot right at the ground line, i would pull them out, pull the staples, and, carefully cut them into fire wood with my chain saw, lucky, i never hit an old staple. Fall seems like the perfect time to do fencing,, cooler, and, no bugs.

    I really enjoyed this episode! It was so much fun watching a basic fencing project. Soooo much easier than when my grandfather and uncles put up fence...it was the old post hole digger, lots of sweat and time. It’s interesting that you like to fence... How many brothers do you have? A little backstory on your family maybe? I got the impression that you’re an only son.

    so that gets me thinking you got hit in the head by a post sometime in your lifetime... lol

    I think Benj. Franklin, said,"good fences make good neighbors". Here in Minnesota, if the fence line seperated two neighbors, one had to build one half, and, maintain it. I do not remember if i was supposed to do the right half, or the left half.

    • @SonneFarms
      @SonneFarms  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yea my dad says if you are standing in your own field and looking at the fence, you are responsible for the right half of the fence
