    Honestly, to my eyes, I don't notice much of a difference between the A7SIII and the A7RV footage seen in your video. I do know that the A7RV uses pixel binning for 4k 24, 30, 60p unless going super 35 crop? Meaning that even the A7IV video will have more detail since it's 4k is downsampled from 7k. However, the fact that someone like you who owns a A7Siii (which is Sony's best video camera amongst their alpha lineup) is speaking highly of the A7RV makes me happy. I should be getting my A7RV in today to replace my A7IV which I thought was already an incredible camera.

    Danny what do you think of Taylor Jackson and Manny Ortiz's claim that the A7R5 is the only Sony camera they'd trust for auto white balance, plus they both say the metering has been improved.

    • @DannyBligh
      @DannyBligh ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I trust their opinion! So the a7iv I didn’t use enough to really comment on specifically the AF. The a7siii, i think it’s not bad at auto WB, sometimes it can be a little off but when I shoot the weddings I just use auto all day long and it’s turned out fine. The only time we don’t us when we are filming for a long period of time (speeches and ceremony).
      I’m sure the Rv is better, is it the only Sony i’d trust, no i’d trust the S3 too but it has been off at times.
      The metering - I have actually noticed the metering to be about a 1/3 stop out between the two but didn’t really think much to it. Again, metering for me is something I don’t use a huge deal. When it comes to video I use zebras. And photo I use a combination of zebra and multi metering.
      Long story short, I don’t really ever shoot in auto iso or wb (or atleast enough) to have a comment. Manny and Taylor are very credible sources of info, but if you’re somebody like me that doesn’t really use them features then no claim or even feature will effect me.
      I hope that answers your question!

    Great Video, I am sitting here and have been for a couple of months tempted to trade in my A7S iii for this Camera. I go back and forth on what is important to me, what would I lose out on or notice moving to the A7R V compared to my A7S iii, and I still haven't made the move. Like your last statement, it isn't an easy decision to make and the fact I am still not committed says I should probably stick with the A7S iii. Those additional features though .. oooooo so tempting !! Knowing my luck, I will go for it, then an A7S iv will come out a few months later with all these features and a bump in Megapixels .. thanks again for the excellent comparison, it's the best Video of this type out there.

    • @DannyBligh
      @DannyBligh ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks Paul!
      The additional features such as the AF is just incredible. But I didn't realise I needed them until I tried them. The sole reason I bought this was for pixel peeping because I had never done that and as a b-cam to my a7siii.
      I'm in no way connected to Sony (if only...) but I saw an article about the A1ii coming this year but didn't read it. That may be a good indication of what you could expect on the a7siii as the A1 is a mixture of the A7Riv and A7Siii.
      I have no doubt in my mind the the A7Siv will show it's face within the next 18 months (this September/October will be the 3 year anniversary of it I think), but the comment about the MP in the next one, I can't see it happening. They could maybe push 20mp but they need to keep the photo sites on the low side to keep in with the theme of the camera. But what do I know, I could be totally wrong. It's exciting regardless.
      What should you do, only you know!
      A little insight for you; I run a wedding photography/videography business (www.blighandguyweddingvisuals.co.uk) and my partner shoots on just an a7siii for photo and video. The photos after a little playing with come out incredibly good. It takes incredible photos but the MP is low. After a little 'enhancing' in Lightroom they are almost indistinguishable between only photos from my a7iii and the a7iv I hired last year. He has just ordered an A7iv to pair up with his a7siii as that doesn't break the bank but does what he needs for the weddings and other jobs he does. Whereas I didn't want the a7iv. It's down to your requirement and only you know... but I'd definitely recommend trying an a7iv and seeing what you think, much cheaper option

      @@DannyBligh Thanks for the really comprehensive response, I really appreciate it. You know what, you have given me the PERFECT idea. I didn't actually think of the A7iv to be honest, as you are right, if I want to keep the amazing Video of the A7S iii but want Photography improvements, just opt for another Camera. I think I just got sucked up with the improvements to AF with AI, as one thing I struggle with a little on the A7S iii is the AF, but only due to my own experience not the Camera's fault. I LOVE the ability to have profile photos and it just concentrate on that individual. I am going now to read the reviews on the A7iv and thanks so much you have really helped me here. Absolutely! We can sit and talk specs all day, and if you enjoy that then sure go right ahead. But nobody watches a video and thinks “jheeeez i love that this was filmed in log at 120fps downsampled from an 8k sensor” 😂😂

    I just got an a7cr and have been super happy but I'll be extremely honest, I knew almost nothing about cameras going into this and this was the first camera I've ever bought on my own (had a Nikon growing up) so I didn't know that megapixels would have any great affect on my videos.
    While I am a hybrid shooter, I do care a lot about video quality and was about to return my A7CR and get the A7Siii to get that video quality benefit, but seeing as the A7CR and A7Rv are so similar, I dont think anyone would be able to tell, other than the rolling shutter results. Quite happy with my decision now. While i think the A7Siii is the better video camera, i think the A7CR or A7RV is just much more versatile, seeing as the video is as good it is with along with the photography perks as well. So in summary, to me at least, it seems like a better hybrid camera. Don't think I'll be returning it. Thx!

      With any camera you’re always going to have to sacrifice one thing to gain another 🤷🏻‍♂️ not used the a7r but have the a7cii, great little cameras that pack a punch! You’ll love it

    Aother dumb this vs that 😂 the pro videoman will go with the A7S111, The pro Photographer who wants to do video occasionally will go with the A7R5 !! Their 2 different animals!! One cant be better thanthe other one. It makes more sense comparing the A7r5 to the A1

      not dumb at all, this review helped me to understand what do I need and think about what am I going to do more (photo or video), and as a7rv has some features that were not covered in this review, like AI autofocus, I still decided to go with a7rv, though I really like a7siii video capabilities and would like to have all those feature in one camera (and I do understand that it is not possible due to matrix size of a7rv)
