    I love this. This is the second or third time I'm watching this video and it came at a time when I was really concerned about the emphasis we put on butts in seats as the major evaluation for church growth. Thanks for sharing @bradyshearer. Your content is always enlightening and amazing.

    I have been in ministry development for over 30 years and (I must confess) started watching this video with a fair amount of skepticism. I was absolutely surprised and blessed with the practicality and insights for a straight-faced way to focus on sincere, life-changing ministry in the church that limits the room for excuses and prioritizes our mission.

    7 rules. Jesus said HE would build HIS Church...
    Remember, it's HIS Church.

  • @markstewart7527
    @markstewart7527 26 วันที่ผ่านมา

    It's HIS Church & the Church is HIS body. The real Church did not shut down during the pandemic by the Government. It actually grew in homes where it started. Read Acts chapter 1 & 2.

    Hey Brady, where are you located? I think the viability of in-person church is pretty different in my area (Georgia) where many churches have been "back to normal" for over a year. Many (but certainly not all) churches that have prioritized in-person gatherings have seen growth, I think at the expense of churches that have deemphasized in-person gatherings. I think that one impact of the pandemic is that it has greatly increased the impact of regional differences on church life.

    I returned to this video again because I think it's so important and I want to start implementing some of these suggestions. Could you give an example of how you would use the Google sheet to practically track church members? Do you multiply the assigned points per person who it applies to? And then do you total the points each week? Or do you look at the overall numbers per category and rank according to importance?

    • @mauriciotorres4974
      @mauriciotorres4974 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I have this same question. Does each individual get a score or is this an overall church score each week?

    Although our New Year's resolutions may quickly crumble, God's plans never fail. If we'll make it our goal this year to learn to walk in His way rather than our own, we may be surprised what He will do. Instead of fretting over a decision, we'll learn to trust, rest, and wait on Him

  • @bradbowzer3123
    @bradbowzer3123 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Very fascinating and great work! I'm one of the "old gen-X" people, lol, but everything you say here makes perfect sense! One observation about the Barna data - looking carefully, there was actually a sharp drop in 2011 2012 ending in 2013. The numbers were fairly flat before and after those years. 2012 was the reelection of Barak Obama. Churches changed then and became overly political. That drove a lot of people away. Still does. Immigrant churches in the US and churches in other countries have not see a drop in members over the past 20 years. Some people did not return after COVID, but before COVID much of the church growth in the US is coming from immigrant churches.

    I don’t agree with your service intro of overdoing the welcome thing.Here is our service intro,”welcome to all visiting with us at Divine Mercy Catholic Church.Wherever you are in your faith journey,you are always welcomed in this place.”Do you see what’s wrong with this intro?It is such an us and them statement.It even has the word “us” in it.You’re not part of the Divine Mercy family,you’re an outsider.What if you came home and your wife says”welcome to the Shearer household.Wherever you are in your family journey,you’re always welcomed in this place.”Wouldn’t you start to get a little creeped out?

    Brady I happen to come across your video on church growth during the pre-pandemic. You shared some viable information that helps me understanding things that are done in the past wont even work for now because of the times we live in. I did an outline sermon entitled "Disciples Making Disciple" coming from Matthew 28:16-20 on our FB Live. I understand how Jesus would have us to do ministry and the main goal is to know what does it mean to be a disciple, the work of a disciple, and the specific message by which we must proclaim. (Ac. 1:8) I will like to take your advice concerning the growth of church ministry. There are many challenges by which the church is being challenge. Times have change; things are different. As a pastor whose online wants to see the growth of our church ministry. Thank you for all that you have shared thus far. May the Lord bless the work of what you are doing online.

    Hi, today in our meeting staff in our church, we where asking ourselves if this situation post-pandemic will result in a 'never be the same' for the sunday services side, we are trying to embrace the new shift with services online and social media, but our atendance on sundays seems to be gaining tracktion very slow. My question is: do you think in a year or a little more the tipical sunday services will be 'normal' (pre-pandemic) plus online and social media services? (thanks and sorry for my english, hope i can make myself clear enough :) )

    Hey Brady, quick question (from south Germany)! Love the idea and are very willing to implement it.
    I'm right now wondering how to insert the numbers and get a reasonable result. E.g. I have one decision for christ in a week an have 10 points for that it is 10 points. So far so good. I also want to track service attendance (or small group attendance or anything with a much higher count number). But if I type in 100 as service attendance with the factor 6 I will get 600. The most important thing - people finding Christ - is rated with 10, a way less import number overwhelms with 600.
    Do you have a smart solution for that?

  • @frankseydel9428
    @frankseydel9428 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    The church's purpose should be defined by the cycle of harvest:
    -Call people to Jesus and thus into the Kingdom
    -Establish the newly converts in Kingdom principles
    -Help them find their place in calling more people into the Kingdom this making them disciples
    -Turn them loose to call more to Jesus and thus into the kingdom

    My only issue with this is that the Pharisees would have been able to check all of these boxes, and Jesus said their father was the devil. So, having a church full of box-checkers does not necessarily mean it's a healthy church.

    • @prochurchtools
      @prochurchtools  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      True. And that's kind of the point, right? Can you ever quantify the state of someone's heart? With full accuracy? No. But like Jesus taught, "every tree is known by its fruit." So think of each next step as its own fruit. The more fruit you see, the more likely it is your church is headed in the right direction.

    • @gospellifechurchhuntsville
      @gospellifechurchhuntsville 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@prochurchtools Good point. I guess some of it just comes down to the pastor. Does he emphasize box checking, which leads to Phariseeism? Or does he emphasize grace, which leads to fruit (Titus 2:11-12).

    I am highly skeptical when people say "Church Growth". I listen with a very cynical ear, if I listen at all. Since I am subscribed to this channel, I know you ain't all bad ;) . This idea is not too bad. It's not some gimmick program. It's not even a program. It's just a tracking method that allows me to track what I want to track and weight it accordingly.
    Our Sunday morning service is either drive-in and sit in your car, get out of your car and sit in the grass, go inside (with reservations and spaced out seats), or stay home and watch everything online. A couple of adult small groups are meeting or you can watch online. No children's ministries at all. Tracking online participation is impossible, unless you cracked that code on your Nucleus site.
    I agree, this is a time that we can completely rethink how we are doing ministry, since we cannot do hardly anything we were doing before.

    Just had a 2 hour convo with someone about this today, and then this vid popped up! So good & very timely man... I wish more people knew how to use their ChMS to track this stuff. Once I figured out how to use forms, workflows, & lists in PCO to keep track of people going through Growth Track, signing up for a small group, serving, etc, it was like a whole new world of metrics opened up and it’s been so rewarding. Our church launches in 7 weeks and our systems are ready to go 💪🏼👏🏼 Pray for us bro, pandemic church planting isn’t the easiest 😂

    Thanks Brady. Great stuff here. We were in the process of planting and getting ready to do some community outreach and preview services when the pandemic hit. So we started doing online services 🤷🏻‍♂️.
    The question has been "how do we actually plant a church when we are still not known to our community?" Online feels so over-satured and connecting with people has been difficult. Especially because we want to reach unreached people.

    • @prochurchtools
      @prochurchtools  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It’s a bit of a holding pattern in some respects. I think right now, with the state of the world where it’s at, the best question for our churches to ask is: “how can we serve our community” Connection and awareness will come from there.

Because of the pandemic our church migrated to online with live streams of our weekly service but I know it's just a pivot out of necessity. We have a vision for church growth but without church attendance to rely on, we don't know how to know if we are growing. This video definitely gave me a fresh perspective which I am excited to share with my pastors! Thank you for the work you do Brady! Will definitely share how it pans out with our church!

      It's true. I've coached a lot of churches this summer, and so many of the issues we're trying to fix are symptoms of a greater problem. And when we get to the root of it, so often it's based in how they evaluate their efforts and the "why" behind what they do. Fix that and everything else can begin to fall into place.

    I just noticed that there's an error on your sheet. The total doesn't include all the cells it supposed to. It needs to be, "H5:H21"

      Andrew Beauman Ah thanks for the heads up, Andrew. I made some changes and must have missed that. Fixed now!
