Holy crap, this is so deep! Normally those who talk passionately about their scriptures make my blood run cold, for they have a way of coming across as, at best, fanatic and obsessed more often than not, but the religious themes described here are beautiful and, in some ways, inspiring, not least because a lot of it is tied to genuine shared hope rather than a veritable 'hive mind' of blind, obedient faith. I kid you not, this has actually quelled some of my fears regarding religion as a whole. That being said, I don't see myself jumping the queue to sign up with any particular covenant or whatever. Still, this story's deeper themes have really struck a chord with me today, and it's a fanfic about CARTOON PASTEL PONIES, for crying out loud! Makes you think.

Religious belief all start out as cults, only for them to grow and mellow out. It has happened with the Abrahamic religions and the reason why this one sounds fine is simply because they actually have ponies doing the things they say. Where as Earth religions don’t have that. Only scripture.

Gulheru's work is amazing. Ive been reading his trilogy and they are amazing much like this. How Gulheru writes the bat pony culture is nearly perfect even goes as far as writing an entire language, from some creatures that appeared in the background in a few episodes. Gulheru's dialogue is beautiful. Midnight Wind is a great character with great pros and cons. He feels like it should belong in the show as well Gulheru's bat pony culture (his culture is my head canon for the bat pony culture). And for those curious about Midnight's hesitation..... read the two sequels (it is explained in the first sequel but gives a cliffhanger for the third installment).
The person who voices Midnight Wind needs, I think, some practice at sounding more natural in his Dracula accent. I've noticed that he's rolling his R's in the back of his throat, like he's getting a Russian-derived accent mixed up with a French one. He's an amazing voice actor otherwise. Just needs some practice with his eastern accents.
I can feel the flirting from far. I'm actually shipping them, Twilight is pretty open minded and Mindnight is pretty inteligent too. I prefer that shipping than the others i have seen, AND HOLY MOLLY THE REACTION OF SPIKE WAS G O L D
This story reminds me about Vlad the Impaler and the stories of Dracula that he inspired. Some of the stories are very close to the truth but exaggerated slightly. The ability to transform into bats came from him using bats to weaken his opposing armies. I could go on about this topic (I will if someone replies to this comment asking for more) but I should stop before I get carried away. I wonder how much of this story was inspired by him. For a final note I do not see how this is a 'romance' story.

They typically have gray coats and dark-colored wings, manes and tails. Bat ponies dwell in a chain of mountains located east of Equestria, and are thought to be related to Pegasi (though Bat ponies themselves dispute this). Bat ponies make up the Night Guard of Princess Luna. Bat ponies are nocturnal by nature. Prolonged, unprotected exposure to the Sun or other bright light can cause blindness that lasts from several hours up to a couple of days.
I still think that This would be better, more diverse, and not so cliched(with the Transylvania/Dracula Tropes) if some aspects of the Portugal Mythological Bat-Winged Horses Cavalo do Pensamento & Cavalum were integrated into this, But what do I know? I never even played that game before.

As it is, you can see that this was before I went back and added Night Vision (D4) and Stout Heart (D4) to the Bat pony Talents. As it stands, I was sorely tempted to include some form of echo-location. Fire-breath or Heat Vision seems a bit over-powered, especially since we've never seen Bat ponies display any such ability.

And I don't think that the show ever confirmed that the Bat-Ponies lived in Trotsylvania or Hollow Shades, so basically All we got to work with is a bunch of stuff that the Fandom has come up or came to conclude(mostly based on Real-World Bats & Fictional Vampires), meaning that we could have just made up a bunch of Random stuff up about them anytime we wanted, But at least with the Bat-Winged Horses of Portugal Mythology, we'd actually have an Honest-to-Goodness Mythology with elements & aspects we could integrate into our works, like all of the Asian Mythology that was used to make the Kirin on the show, So I don't think you have to be afraid to use Anything you want from the Portugal Mythological Bat-Winged Horses in your works, it would still work out just as well as anything else that the Fandom has already came up with.
