Type o had an unrivaled ability to turn someone else's song into something completely new and Type o "Negatizing" it.
When Type O Negative does a cover...they inevitably take it to a better place. Their versions put you into sensory heaven.
The Type O version is one of the best covers I've heard, easier to understand the lyrics and the atmosphere is amazing .
The Type O Negative version is a definite mood. I like the Black Sabbath version for it's frenetic, almost manic, pace which fits the name Paranoid very well. The Type O Negative version comes at Paranoid from the opposite direction. It's very languorous and melancholy. I had never heard this version before but I like it quite a bit.
Peter's voice sounds like an angel crying. That guy was so talented, and the band was something very special.

Black Sabbath released Paranoid in 1970.
Megadeth covered Paranoid in 1994 (for the Black Sabbath tribute compilation, Nativity In Black).
Type O Negative covered Paranoid in 1994 (at the same time they also covered the song Black Sabbath for the Black Sabbath tribute compilation, Nativity In Black).
I love type-o and I love their covers, but could you compare Neil Young’s cinnamon girl.. to type-o’s version? Or I 🤔 it was Seals and Crofts version of Summer breeze to T.O.N cover? Hard pressed to compare what they do to the cover and not find it amazing. I do like their paranoid.... but it didn’t necessarily feel like a cover. This is where I edit, ok I hear the cover. Without the water splashing. Still stand by my their covers are MORE! I guess that’s my argument within.
In my defense I was doing dishes... just saying.
Type-O was the best at "making it their own" while still paying high respect to to the original artist.

As an American, I have Been blessed! Somehow over the last 30 years, I have found awesome bands that most Americans will never hear of! Early "World Wide Web" played a big part! I came into Type O Negative from Carnivore! Soon after I discovered power, and later, symphonic metal! Statovarious, Manowar, Nightwish, Rhapsody (Of Fire), Edguy, Hammerfall, Blind Guardian, Epica, Kamelot ... Oh well... More please! You are one hell of a beautiful wicked witch BTW! 🤘Happy Helloween a day after!
I love that Type O Negative slipped in the main riff from Black Sabbath's "Iron Man". They are excellent at those little musical "smirks". TON wins easy.
Ozzie tells a story through his lyrics - he speaks to you so you listen, he is clear but he sounds ominous. Its what makes him the Prince of Darkness. Loved type O Negatives version too, but the kudos goes to Black Sabbath for me. Love you guys!

There's only 1 type O, and only 1 peter steele. They were influenced between black sabbath,and beetles. But their version of this song was their own,and was actually better for a vibe sense....they just did all their covers slower and different.

Looks like I'm in the minority here but in my opinion....Hands Down Black Sabbath takes it. Sorry but the original is just way better for my ears.
You guys are on some serious crack if you think Type O wins. Sounds like a Marylin Manson rip off and very emo. No way that wins. Megadeth sped it up and made it Thrashy. The best will always be Black Sabbath. Besides it’s Megadeth they will always make it faster and musicianship are always head and shoulders above everyone else in the genre. Beside this is a very simple song. Try and find a band to cover something like Holy wars and Tornado of souls by Megadeth. It will be a 1 sided victory.

@@manhattan4598megadeth did not, but musically type o cover is better. megadeth are actually better musicians than type o, but all they did in this particular cover is sped the original song up. type o not only changed the feeling but did their own parts, and they are beautiful. About emo thing that the commentator above said, sorry pal, not everyone thinks about type o this way and anyways it is subjective.
