It's a little of both in the orginal material Goku asks Vegeta the same thing about why Vegeta allowed someone to help him get power and Vegeta explained that it was more to awakened his evil again so for that instance he was okay with Badibi giving more power
Vegeta is my favorite character. Showed a ton of character growth throughout the series and maintained his pride as a Saiyan warrior.
