After I uploaded this last night I actually ran across your review. I was hoping you had a better way of putting on those curved decals but it looks like we had the same idea to just toss the decals and paint it, haha.
Yeah I think it'd be the easier option! Most other kits would get you to paint things like that, I appreciate Bandai's efforts to make it accessible, but honestly they're some of the most difficult decals I've worked with.
There's a product called Mr. Mark Softer that helps alot with decals on curves. They make a sister product called Mr. Mark Setter that will prevent silvering really well, too.
I went with the Captain for my kit too. When I saw all the blue arm and chest stickers/decals when I opened the box, my heart sunk into my stomach lol. But thankfully, the kit went together easy as any other, and I really didn't have any problems with the decals. Also: Many times while building, say the left arm, I'd accidentally look up and start reading off the right arm. Then I try to connect the joints and don't understand why it's not lining up, or the part looks backwards. Then finally, my stupid ass realizes what i did. Adventures in model kit building! Haha
That is EXACTLY what I do. I see arm, I just go to it and then it takes me a minute to realize I'm on the wrong one. That or I look back up and I'm completely lost, haha. And I have never, ever been able to do the decals on curves, especially with those splits in them. They just don't go down smooth for me.
The Fwoosh I can't remember which kit was... probably one of the troopers, I started the left elbow pieces, but looked down and used pieces from the right, then I finished the arm, then when I got back to the right elbow, the parts were gone cause I used them on the left, so I had to back track to find my mess up. It was a total nightmare lol
ABOUT. DAMN. TIME. TOOK YOUR SWEET ASS TIME, DIDN'T YOU. Your new editing software is looking nice, Robo. Out of all the new Troopers for Rogue One, the Shoretrooper is my absolute favorite, too. I must admit, I grew impatient and kind of went ahead and ordered 3 and they should be here in a couple of weeks. I plan to make one of the each options and just get a shit ton of the Black Series regular grunts because I can't get enough Troopers and I have no self control and like you, I hate money, absolutely hate it, can't help but to give it away to companies for their toys.
Haha, that's what happens when three different models come out at the same time, I get model burnout! You'll be happy, it's a good kit besides the curved feet. I really do hate those things. Bandai has done that on a few of my Figuarts figures and it sucks there too, and they have articulated toes.
Just built this guy, painted him up. Just wish he came with more hands, but it is impressive how much more intricate the detailing is on the new kits as compared to the old ones.
I bought 3 of these there very theroputical I suffer from anxiety and depression so doing these r really good fun, I now have 53, but about 50 of them r Hasbro great videos loving them all
I've been watching tutorials on how to dirty these guys up. And apply water slides. I bought a cheap fighter jet model to practice on. Did ok, learned what not to do as well. I'm ready for my shoretrooper!
I got antsy earlier and weathered up and panel lined my black series squad leader. He was still too clean next to the grunt. Looks much better, and I am that much more impatient for my kits to arrive.
I wish the model kits were more easily accessible here. I remember being able to get gundam models in Toys R Us or some other big box stores back in the day
I love how sharp that helmet is. I ended up getting the SH Figuarts. As much as I like the model kits, I'll just stick with model kit ships and droids and SH Figuarts troopers and characters.
Thanks! Yeah, it kind of a mix of Imperial coolness and earth colors with a little practicality thrown in. These troopers can sit, that makes them a winner every time.
I'm with you on the Shoretrooper design, it's so original and inspired. I recently got the ShFiguarts and it's become one of my all-time favorite SHF figures. This kit looks like it's got a lot of potential, but like you said, it needs a lot of detailing afterwards and I'm just not good enough for that. So, what do you think of the Ep 8 title? I like it a lot because it's very much in the spirit of the OT. i just hope the movie itself dares to take an original direction and not be a Empire Strikes Back clone. Looking forward to you next reviews!
I don't think it's going to be a clone of Empire but I think things are going to get a whole lot darker and then pick back up for EP9. So the same formula but I hope they use some original material within that formula. But as much as I've read about EP7 I just realized Han took the Obi-Wan role from EP4, right down to losing a lightsaber battle almost on purpose. So who knows. I still love it though...
This may be just me, but I think you should livestream building these and then you can upload the review with highlights from the build. I think that'd be cool. If not, this format is great too.
The longer rifle is called the BlasTech E-22 and then it looks like a weird E-11 redesign. Great review Robo, as always I really enjoyed it. By the way, how do you like my new profile picture? A friend made it for me.
The Fwoosh Thanks. It's a new ship I have for Harley. Starpool treats her 10 times better than Joker, is a survivor after Order 66 and is now an anti-hero and Harley's husband. I'm working on the fan fictions still though.
Hey Robo, micro Sol and micro set are your friends when it comes to waterslide. It really is an art form you have to practice at but nearly impossible without those two things. They basically heat up the decals to the point they conform to the surface. Now I can tell you from experience the bandai decals are garbage when it comes to this because they are too thin but it is possible to get them to look right.
I use those, but hearing you say that about the decals makes me feel better since I still have problems but I've only ever messed with these Bandai decals. It feels like I'll put some down no problem and then all of the sudden, boom, the next few just go all to hell.
I had the exact same issue with the knee joint parts. The decals on the shoulder are a pain in the arse. They don't sit down right, even when using setting solution. Stickers and paint are the best way to go
I was jut able to find the right shade of blue this past weekend, I'm ready to finish this thing off. I did try the shoulders with decals again. No. Just no.
I know you like getting out these reviews fast and we like it to. Since you don't have time to show it in these vids, do you think you could make a video on all the kits that you did painting/decals not shown in the review?
Robo... with the decals if you want them to lay better you can hit them with a hairdryer to warm them up & make them more flexible... but you need to do that after you have got one edge down on the part... & with the water slides... you can get this stuff from your hobby shop (I can't for the life of me remember its name... because I need to buy some more myself...) it's made by Tamiya & it softens the water slides to make them more pliable so they'll conform to the curves & locks them down better aswell...
I use Microset and Microsol most of the time, my biggest problem is that I'm impatient and can't stop messing with it, haha. I hadn't heard about heat before though, that makes total sense. I'll give that a go, thanks!
The Fwoosh patience Robo... you must unlearn what you have learned... impatience leads to frustration... frustration leads to hate... hate leads to the Darkside...
The shoulder armor water slides need to be cut where it looks like it's already cut for the overlap. Trying to put decals on rounded things sucks. If the Micro Sol doesn't work it's magic, I'm gonna use the sticker.
Yeah, even cut they want to overlap. I guess they could be trimmed until they just mutt up against each other but gah, at that point it's just easier to paint them.
I still feel the scale is too short. And after getting two Black Series so far and then three model kits, and rumors of another SWBS version coming, I'm good on Shoretroopers, heh.
Do you plan on weathering this I noticed you don't weather your models much I know you use tamiya weather masters from your old video do you use those any more
These were my first attempt at weathering with a wash only took a few minutes and already looked better _lh3.googleusercontent.com/BRPusCraDiLVGXqJTMM6rJ5MPt4zxM1PCwAMBF1-FaAQJm89g9Qacqg6RZlzmAdyRN6vPAcs5w_
i like watching your videos. i just recently bought my own bandai model kit. i just wonder if u gonna making videos making the bandai Slave I, AT-AT, or At-St?
Just watched several of your videos and also a new subscriber. Btw, was wondering if you're going to do a review on the resistance/x-wing (didn't see much vehicle builds from bandai on your channel) cheers
Hey thanks, I appreciate that! I don't do the vehicles because of time, money, and space. I'd like to, they look fantastic, but I don't get a lot of time between all of these action figures.
I really hate the decal/stickers for the shoulder, I tried to put decal on but it didn't look right 😩 so I went down my local model store with decal sheet and found a matching colour 👍
To this review ( again ) i got the shoretrooper . The first time I got the stormtrooper and the seconde I got general greivous , so this is my third kit from bandai's star wars models
These model kits look great, but I just don't have the time. I really prefer the black series but I do see the pros of the model kits. For 9.99 ea I got a bunch of Scarifs at Walfart. From the box to the shelf lol. But I used to love models when I had the time
I liked everything about it except the curved shoes. I don't understand why they did that with this figure and I hope it's not a trend for future ones. I have to keep him pegged into the stand so he doesn't fall over. Also the blue decal overlapping on the shoulder doesn't look good as you said.
It was weird when I went to publish too. Even though I checked the boxes to send it to Twitter and Google+, it didn't actually send it to my feeds. And then it was a nightmare to get the featured image to show up along with it taking twice as long to load. Something was definitely wrong with TH-cam last night.
I never understood why the shore troopers don't have thigh armour just shin ? Makes no sense to me and I think it would look better, maybe if the boot was the same colour as the armour also. Great review, I actually have the same issues with some of my knee joints on my figures (I hope I ain't done them wrong) and the worse part is I can never remember any of my figures knees clicking in to place :/ And can't wait for the decal party.!
kylethedalek From the official wiki, apparently it was to create the illusion of a lighter armor(same as the biker scouts). The idea is that they are needed to bit more mobile and cooler since they are operate as essentially beachhead defenders.
ThorVapeReviews fair point, but do you think even just having the extra armour would make all that difference? I would imagine there is certain troops with the upper leg armour, like I have seen heavier armoured bikers. But thinking about it, the shore troopers are for going right in to battle so they would need that extra armour, were as the bikers aren't. And like the sand troopers have the extra cooling system integrated so the shore troopers could also.
I can't see them not making a tank commander. But yeah, you should get one. I'm still happy with SWBS for background troops but this looks really, really good in front of them.
Could you help me with finding what toy im thinking of?? Ok so when i turned 8 or 9 my cousin gave me this G.I. Joe figure i think it was but I'm not sure he had short blond hair and flat rectangle feet and he came with a zip line and he was really tall not sure how tall tho he was just a really cool to me and i just wanna find out what figure it was lol
well they are on amazon.com but shipping to me is an additional $20 per kit so your looking at $40 since I'm not in the US. that kinda defeats the purpose of army building them and nearly x2 the price of the Black series ones :(
yeah....I know. I'm not in the us either, I ordered Captain phasma on amazon, 30$ with 20$ shipping. not cheap at all, but I think the model kit of phasma is better than the black series. So now I understand that this is not cheap at all for army building. Lets be sad together... :(
I'm in Australia & I get mine off ebay... the figures cost around the AU $30 mark & the ships are around the AU $40 mark... mostly depends on the exchange rate & who you buy it off... I've found the seller hobby_japan to be the best on price...
Yeah, I forgot to show the pair of open hands, but it's only those and a right trigger finger. I can only guess they left it out because of the extra pieces to make all three versions. But now that I built the Captain I kind of want a pointing hand for him to direct troops.
I haven't painted it yet but I'll probably use either some Apple Barrel or some other cheap brand since they have a wide variety of colors and it will be easier to match. Then I'll just seal it really good to keep it from scratching.
Amazing review! I like the blue background. Could you speed up the building process though? Maybe you could make the video fast on each limb being built, and then slow down a little to show us the section you built. It might make the video a bit faster.
I found the decals on the curves pretty useless, I just ended up painting the chest and shoulder pieces, which I think looks way better!
After I uploaded this last night I actually ran across your review. I was hoping you had a better way of putting on those curved decals but it looks like we had the same idea to just toss the decals and paint it, haha.

Hell, I've done a few and I still get antsy before doing another one, heh.

Mimban has gotta have a large body of water somewhere right? MUDSHORETROOPER
the head with the visor reminds me of the ecoas jegan/ jegan ecoas type ^^ . still trying to decide what will be my first star wars kit
I wish the model kits were more easily accessible here. I remember being able to get gundam models in Toys R Us or some other big box stores back in the day
Bluefin is about to start distributing the vehicle models so hopefully the figure models won't be too far behind.
+The Fwoosh I don't know if that's a good thing for my wallet.
I love how sharp that helmet is. I ended up getting the SH Figuarts. As much as I like the model kits, I'll just stick with model kit ships and droids and SH Figuarts troopers and characters.
Yeah, I forgot to mention how I like the visor thing on the forehead being a separate piece instead of a blob of helemt like the Black Series.
I feel you on the Shoretroopers. I need to get every single one that I can! Highly addictive design I think ^^. Anyway, great review and great figure!
Thanks! Yeah, it kind of a mix of Imperial coolness and earth colors with a little practicality thrown in. These troopers can sit, that makes them a winner every time.

BEEN WAITING FOR THIS!
The S.H Figurearts Shore trooper is really good and a huge improvement over past troopers.
I've heard it and the Rogue One classic Stormtrooper are great. Maybe someday. Probably someday. Damn it.
This may be just me, but I think you should livestream building these and then you can upload the review with highlights from the build. I think that'd be cool. If not, this format is great too.
I'm just not sure if anyone is interested in two hours of me dropping parts, haha.
The longer rifle is called the BlasTech E-22 and then it looks like a weird E-11 redesign. Great review Robo, as always I really enjoyed it. By the way, how do you like my new profile picture? A friend made it for me.

Think that smaller blaster is something like an E11 carbine version or maybe an E10

Enjoyed watching the vid Robo and looking forward to ordering Bandai shore trooper looks great.
As a modeling novice this was a decal nightmare. But I love this kit built mine as the captain. I ant another one to build a squad leader.
How did the decals on the shoulders come out? Good?
The Fwoosh no it fell apart on me and I had to use the stickers.
do you use decal softener? it might help with complex decals like those blue markings for the shoulder.
Yeah, I do. My problem is when they have to over lap on the curve, I can not make it lay flat to save my life.
I really want the model kit of the tank trooper from rogue one do you reckon bandai will make one?
Richard Ellison probably not I think that was it for rogue one kits
Richard Ellison but don't quote me though anything could happen
I have to think they will, it's pretty much reusing most of the parts from this kit with a new helmet and belt piece. Easy to produce.
Really want this one in 1/6 scale.
Same here, and I don't even do much 1:6.
I know you like getting out these reviews fast and we like it to. Since you don't have time to show it in these vids, do you think you could make a video on all the kits that you did painting/decals not shown in the review?
That's the plan, I just haven't had time to get to them yet. They are standing naked on the shelf at the moment.
The Fwoosh ok thanks for the reply
Robo... with the decals if you want them to lay better you can hit them with a hairdryer to warm them up & make them more flexible... but you need to do that after you have got one edge down on the part... & with the water slides... you can get this stuff from your hobby shop (I can't for the life of me remember its name... because I need to buy some more myself...) it's made by Tamiya & it softens the water slides to make them more pliable so they'll conform to the curves & locks them down better aswell...

Hate leads to figures sticking out of the drywall...
The Fwoosh that too...😂😂😂
love all your videos man, keep em comin. I always chuckle at your "unreadables" hahah
Haha, it's funny how things like that can become a running gag. I didn't even mean for it to happen.
The shoulder armor water slides need to be cut where it looks like it's already cut for the overlap. Trying to put decals on rounded things sucks. If the Micro Sol doesn't work it's magic, I'm gonna use the sticker.
Yeah, even cut they want to overlap. I guess they could be trimmed until they just mutt up against each other but gah, at that point it's just easier to paint them.
hey buddy, did you see the release date for SH Figuarts Dark knight batman? June...looks like a regular release.
Yeah, can't wait because I don't have a Dark Knight Batman at all. I hope Joker follows closely behind.
Will you be getting the S.H. FIguarts shoretrooper as well? Or are the scales too short?
I still feel the scale is too short. And after getting two Black Series so far and then three model kits, and rumors of another SWBS version coming, I'm good on Shoretroopers, heh.
Do you plan on weathering this I noticed you don't weather your models much I know you use tamiya weather masters from your old video do you use those any more
I plan on weathering it, definitely. This and a few older ones like the droids. It just comes down to finding time.
These were my first attempt at weathering with a wash only took a few minutes and already looked better

i like watching your videos. i just recently bought my own bandai model kit. i just wonder if u gonna making videos making the bandai Slave I, AT-AT, or At-St?
I haven't gotten into the vehicles yet. Money, time, space. They look awesome but yeah, I've had to pass so far.
The Fwoosh thanks for the reply! Keep up the amazing content! Cheers
I really hate the decal/stickers for the shoulder, I tried to put decal on but it didn't look right 😩 so I went down my local model store with decal sheet and found a matching colour 👍
Yeah, mine is staying as a grunt, those decals that go around heavy curves are tricky. I absolutely can't do it. What color did you find?
Humbrol AO984 No89 middle blue matt, you might night to put a slight bit of matt might 👍
White matt, had a few lunch time alcohol drinks lol
To this review ( again ) i got the shoretrooper . The first time I got the stormtrooper and the seconde I got general greivous , so this is my third kit from bandai's star wars models
I love all three of those kits.
These model kits look great, but I just don't have the time. I really prefer the black series but I do see the pros of the model kits. For 9.99 ea I got a bunch of Scarifs at Walfart. From the box to the shelf lol. But I used to love models when I had the time
Haha, I completely understand that. I still haven't made it back to decal this kit, time is working against me these days.
You should try to Livestream your water slide party, I think it'd be great!
My internet is a complete joke, doesn't handle streaming very well. I would love to do that though.
Use some wash (ink) and matt coat would easily bring the model to life.
Yup, I say that at some point.
how long does it usually take to build one of these (trooperwise) im thinking of picking one of these up
Hour and a half, two hours. It usually takes me a little longer because I'm filming and stopping to talk about parts and stuff.
I liked everything about it except the curved shoes. I don't understand why they did that with this figure and I hope it's not a trend for future ones. I have to keep him pegged into the stand so he doesn't fall over. Also the blue decal overlapping on the shoulder doesn't look good as you said.
Yeah, I can never get those decals to lay right when they have to overlap each other. There is some kind of magic involved there or something.
Beautiful kit, but because of the stickers, I prefer the $60 shf shore trooper
I can see that.
10:42
Robo, five years later, have you finished those other two kits?
Im considering buying a few of these, how long does it normally take to build one?
It usually takes a couple of hours.
Okay, thanks!
your video didn't show up in my subscription videos area. wtf TH-cam.
wyattslade14 same
It was weird when I went to publish too. Even though I checked the boxes to send it to Twitter and Google+, it didn't actually send it to my feeds. And then it was a nightmare to get the featured image to show up along with it taking twice as long to load. Something was definitely wrong with TH-cam last night.
I'm just here waiting for a General Grievous model kit
I'm sitting right beside you on that one. Need. Pass the popcorn.
The Fwoosh Thanks for replying! That made my day. Just Subbed
I never understood why the shore troopers don't have thigh armour just shin ?
Makes no sense to me and I think it would look better, maybe if the boot was the same colour as the armour also.
Great review, I actually have the same issues with some of my knee joints on my figures (I hope I ain't done them wrong) and the worse part is I can never remember any of my figures knees clicking in to place :/

All I know is my 501st buddy wants to do a Shoretrooper armor so he can at least sit at conventions, haha. You can't do that in the classic armor.
The Fwoosh Lol that's true haha, I do believe there is new armour designs which solve this issue (or partly fix it.) I
Awesome!
Now... Do I get one?! D:
I'd really want a tank trooper commander though...
I can't see them not making a tank commander. But yeah, you should get one. I'm still happy with SWBS for background troops but this looks really, really good in front of them.
Why are the arms a bit short, they should be closer to the knees
Can the cloth piece work on the clone trooper?
Could you help me with finding what toy im thinking of??
Ok so when i turned 8 or 9 my cousin gave me this G.I. Joe figure i think it was but I'm not sure he had short blond hair and flat rectangle feet and he came with a zip line and he was really tall not sure how tall tho he was just a really cool to me and i just wanna find out what figure it was lol
ThatWrestlingHound Look up the site Yojoe. They may have it on there.
I have no clue what that could be, haha. Sorry man.
You're definitely not the only one who used the wrong joints for the knees!
You don't know how happy I am to hear that, haha.
really wish those kits where easier to get . I would so army build them troopers ones plus make some customs from the 3po one
tycondrius fitz amazon?
well they are on amazon.com but shipping to me is an additional $20 per kit so your looking at $40 since I'm not in the US. that kinda defeats the purpose of army building them and nearly x2 the price of the Black series ones :(
yeah....I know.
The Sarge so it cost you 70$ for a model kit? this is not cheap either right?
Didn't see this in my sub box.
Yeah, it took forever to upload and then TH-cam didn't auto-send to my socials either. It hated me last night.
I hope we get a tank driver
Me too, it would be so easy to do.
whats the deal with the hands now? only 3 is provided as with the usual 6.
Yeah, I forgot to show the pair of open hands, but it's only those and a right trigger finger. I can only guess they left it out because of the extra pieces to make all three versions. But now that I built the Captain I kind of want a pointing hand for him to direct troops.
I got an idea - You can swap the hands from the regular Stormies and replace the backhand armor piece :)
did you paint it and what paint did you use
I haven't painted it yet but I'll probably use either some Apple Barrel or some other cheap brand since they have a wide variety of colors and it will be easier to match. Then I'll just seal it really good to keep it from scratching.
0:33 That picture, does Bandai do ACBA?
I have watched this video 4 times and still made the mistake on the knee joints, plus do the knees seem skinnier than other figures.
Yeah, it's odd the way they went about the knees on this one.
Do you need glue for these model kits?
Nope, none. I did use just a little on the C-3PO kit to keep tiny pieces in place but other than that, not needed at all.
Thanks for the info!
I like the sand blue but the red seems out of place
So I'm new to the fwoosh forum. I tried posting on Saturday and it still hasn't been approved. Is this normal? Help anyone?
That's normal, the guys usually do them in batches and the main guy who does it is at Disney this week so it may be just a little longer.
Thanks
cmon Bandai, give Me a ROTJ Luke
A model kit ROTJ Luke? I can't see it being better than the Figuarts but it would be pretty fun putting one together.
I have the 3.75 poa verson
i watched your videos b4 buying kits.
Thanks, I hope they helped!
Amazing review! I like the blue background. Could you speed up the building process though? Maybe you could make the video fast on each limb being built, and then slow down a little to show us the section you built. It might make the video a bit faster.
Blurry Face Make the video faster by slowing down?
No, he could speed up when he builds the figure.
Nobody wants a shorter video.....
Robo could be the Bob Ross of model building. Although if there are any accidents, I doubt they will be happy ones.
I just skip the stickers I'm too lazy 🙃
Still not in my sub box yet, thanks TH-cam
Yeah, TH-cam was being a bitch last night, on all fronts.
I honestly hate decals :/ and I’m not a good painter so 🤷🏻♂️😂
Holy fuck these are expensive.
$24?
1st
Nope
If you struggle with this don’t try 1/35 dragon model kits 😂
legs look deformed
