▼Synopsis
This is a one-time drama based on Nanjo Norio's novel of the same name, which was adapted into the NHK Taiga drama in 1975. It was broadcast on TV Asahi in 1995. As the title suggests, ""All-Star Jidaigeki Genroku Taiheiki: Chushingura, Toiniri no Sukettochi - Toei Kyoto Studio Park 20th Anniversary Commemoration,"" this commemorative work boasts a luxurious cast directed by master filmmaker Yasuo Furuhata. The character of Hyogo, who shows off his sword skills while floating around and helping the Akō ronin, is unique to Ken Matsudaira, and his heroic performance will make you smile. Koutarou Satomi, who played Oishi Kuranosuke in the 1985 year-end Jidaigeki special ""Chushingura"" on Nippon TV, also plays the role of Oishi in this work and displays his commanding presence. It's also a pleasure to see Muga Takewaki, who played Hyogo in the Taiga drama version, appearing as the role of Wakisaka Awaji-no-Kami.
In the 14th year of the Genroku period, Asano, the head carpenter of Edo Castle, attacked Kira, the master of ceremonies, with a sword, leading to Asano's forced suicide and Kira's punishment being overlooked. Over a year later in Edo city, Shimohashi Hyogo (played by Ken Matsudaira), a carefree ronin and the nephew of Yagyu Yoshitaka (played by Masahiko Tsugawa), is ordered by his uncle to investigate the activities of the Ako Ronin, a group sympathetic to Asano's cause. However, Hyogo, who sympathizes with the Ronin's plight, helps out in times of need, rescuing Oishi Kuranosuke (played by Koutarou Satomi) and Horibe Yahei (played by Kunihiko Mitamura) from danger. He also teams up with Yaenosuke, a newspaper publisher (played by Shingo Yanagisawa), and Otaki, a geisha (played by Yumi Aso), to plan an attack on Kira's estate.

Their Staunch Loyality and Devotion for an Ideal, One cannot but admire them! The very little that I know about Japanese History, and Culture, is that I cannot help but admire, and respect it!!
Ahh the iconic Ken Matsudaira , never ceased to amaze us. Defender of the warrior code, and not to mention other famous actors too like Kinya Kitaoji san and Koutarou Satomi san, and Kunihiko Mitamura san. Hope to see more of this kind of movie.
Where did Ken Matsudaira, who played Yoshumune in the Abaranbo Shogun series find time to do so many other movies and TV shows?! Plus, he traveled all over Japan singing his special song that the Japanese fell in love with. He is an amazing man.

This movie is different from the 1979 47 Ronins: Ako Roshi movie, clips (YT shorts) of which SAMURAI VS NINJA had uploaded in the last few days. This movie focuses on a peripheral character (played by Ken Matsudaira) who was not one of the 47 ronins but was sympathetic to their cause.
