This is my vehicles thank you all for the great suggestions. The lights came back on after a week. As I was getting ready to take it back to Kit’s the lights went back off again. The car still drives fine. The only issue is the dash lights coming on intermittently.
Check the trans fluid. Is it brown, and smells awful? My guess is you towed something heavy with it, and likely loaded up the vehicle as well on a long drive, and burnt up your trans fluid. It should have a purple hue to it. Dark purple even. If it is brown at all it is bad. Honda fluid oil. Only exception would be Valvoline Maxlife ATF. No others at all. Do not under any circumstance put any other type of trans fluid in.
I am having the same issues on my 2017 EX-L. It was just check engine P0420 for the last year and half intermittently, and just today all the other “Power Steering Problem”, etc popped up. If you have found a solution to all this, could you please let me know? Thanks!
@@zechsperos1410 P0420 = bad PCV system. Is your valve covers leaking? Change your fluids every 3 years. It's likely you have never changed your power steering fluid, or your transmission fluid. How are you doing on your engine oil intervals? Every 6 months or 5k whichever comes first. That will keep your PCV valve from getting clogged. Change over to Valvoline Restore and Protect. Change the fluid every 3 months or 3k whichever comes first for the first year or two. As it cleans it will dislodge any sludge. Frequent oil changes will help keep the fluid clean. After that, just 5k or 6 months. I chose Every September and March.
Good job my friend! You can only go by what the data is telling you. Like you said needs to be more permanent. At least your not shotgunning parts at the car, the customer should be happy about that.
I appreciate your sincerity about this case. My opinion you have a problem in CAN communication because i've seen an bus off code on your diagnostic tool in the beginning of the diagnostic test . If you have a intermittent communication the will takes time to trigger "bus off" beacause the error count has to make 287 errors so after that the lights com on in dashboard. I believe that in time the lights will come more often until they will stay continuously and then will be more easy to pursue or put in evidence the problem.
@florinstan3745 Thank you! Yes I agree with you! we might have a communication issue but when I scoped it the waveform looked good and of course it was not acting up so the customer is gonna keep driving it until it becomes a hard fault then I'll figure it out!
Check the bulk connector on the left side of your left foot. Water usually sep through the corner of the windshield, causing corrosion in the connectors behind that panel
Somebody desconet the battery a happens to me with my son 2019 Honda Civic. I was cleaning the battery terminal. We drove the car until the computer set her self. Good job.
Someone in the comments said to try an idle re-learn. Good advice. I would add some sticking valves (maybe adjust the them - check the valve clearance). Good luck!
I had a misfire on my X5M and did all the coil changes, spark plug changes, #2 was the worst, cleaned it and it ran better until it fouled up again. Did lots of testing and finally decided to put a camera in #2 cylinder. Lo and behold it showed me I need another engine. The cylinder wall was scoured. Too much oil coming up and fouling the plug.
Check and smell the transmission fluid. Replace if brown. 3 times drain/fill is the recommended fluid change on good trans. When the fluid goes brown and burnt it needs at least 6 times drain/fill with driving between. The issue is when the fluid gets hot again. It will be fine as long as the trans fluid doesn't heat up again. The fluid is the culprit.
****DIY guy here: I would verify that parts like MAF, Coils and Spark plugs are OEM from dealership, not cheap Chinese units. Dissappearance of code by just swapping a coil says a lot about the coils.
My scantool Launch creader elite shows the idle relearn progress. It starts after you have the engine up to operating temp, and the fan cycles twice. RPM 3k until fan comes on. Let idle for at least 15 minutes. It takes 10 minutes, but if you don't have the ability to see when it finishes, just let it idle for 15 minutes, and you should be good. I see it says 5 minutes, and my experience has shown 10 minutes at least. It takes a few minutes to start the idle process.
A transmission fluid change (actually followed by a second change after 500 miles) and change any transmission filters should be done. I would also use electrical contact cleaner on the TCM and at the transmission sensor plugs
Maybe an in cylinder pressure transducer test, because the pcm Is still noticing a miss every so often but not enough to trip a code ,or maybe that's just what we would like to see lol.Great job tho!love the channel.
You had a PILOT before in your videos, I took notes and you had this same code but it was not a concern in that video so no help from your older video?? Love all your stuff Bro. Cheers
Deo...sound like you have a wiring harness issue. Pull out a breakout box and scan for CAN resistance. If the resistance is out of spec (other than around 60 ohms) you may have an intermittent open in the wiring to a module connection.
@ekimbrough1413 Great idea! But I scoped the network and the waveform looked great, I should have filmed that part, I will make sure I film every step of the process if the car comes back!
Sometimes after 2 or 3 drive cycles. If the codes return. Disconnect negative battery cable. Disconnect Ecm & Tcm wire connectors. Spray both connectors with only electrical cleaner. Reconnect them.
Chase the misfire to begin with, i see an aftermarket coil pack...clear all the codes, remove the battery terminals and short out any remaining power in the modules....leave it for about 10-15 mins and return everything back to normal. Check the battery voltage just incase.
The TCM is communicating with the ECM through CAN about torque info. If there is a misfire present - or has been in the past then the torque signal wasn't / isn't what the TCM expects because the misfire messes it up and makes it irregular. Solve the misfire and the TCM torque signal won't have any misfires ruining it and the TCM will be happy. Don't for the love of god replace TCM or PCM for this fault please. Solve the misfire by proper diagnostics - not guessing and not hoping and replacing random parts. Don't fire the parts cannon, that is not proper diagnostics and repair etiquette.
I have the Ridgeline 2018. diagnosed by Honda with code P304. my vehicle is part of a campaign for faulty injectors. I believe this Pilot 2016 is part of the same campaign. About the VSA and Lane Assist …. check the battery voltage. I agreed with this comment, I have had tcm error code with this same dtc on Volvo cars, when the ecm has dtc, I will get that p2653 error codes but as soon as the errors are solve on the ecm side, they tcm torque message do not come back
I like not to cause a customer to suffer a lot replscing a expensive parts when there in no enough proof of defective parts. I would love to know after sending beck thevehicle to a customer what happened after ? From South Africa
This is the common problem with this year of the Pilot, there is an extended warranty for this. Most Likely you need to replace the injector and reprogram ECM.
It's hard to diagnosis the problem if it not permanent because everything will be fine when diagnosis.. but I think the problem could be ground wire issue or some plugs lose
