To anyone who don't know it yet, this type of lenovo has very fragile screen, you probably will have broken screen after you open it , even if you open it carefully ,with no force , no rush
Omg I just bought this computer a couple of days ago. The sales guy at Best Buy said this could not be upgraded to go faster. I’m so glad I saw this video. I’m currently taking a comp TIA fundamentals class and I’m learning a lot and I swear I’m definitely putting this on my computer because this was a good deal and the speed was the only drawback but now I can have an inexpensive computer and I can upgrade it for a long-term use. Thank you. This is great.
Very nice video. Well done - where were you able to get a white Lenovo from? I’m living in the USA / and have never seen white models before. Where did you purchase this model?
there is a piece that goes where it shows ODD_SATA, in order to install a secondary HDD SSD or optical drive even a caddy, can someone help me as in a part number or something? thanks
Other than FULLY turning the bottom screw, which does nothing but either hug or push the cover away from the body, here are some instructions I hope you find helpful. Location of attachment points: BOTTOM: Measuring 1 centimeter from the bottom corner along the bottom edge on each side, you will find one plastic hook attached to the back case clipping onto the internal plastic frame. A very thin flat blade screwdriver should release it. Otherwise no other hooks or snags along the bottom. SIDES: This is where the real fun begins. Strangely the back cover has inset attachment points, instead of between the case edge and the screen. 4 U-hook anchor points located at: 1). Horizontally: 1.8cm in from the outside edge, Vertically: 7.8cm up from the bottom outside edge 2). Horizontally: 1.8cm in from the outside edge, Vertically: 14.4cm up from the bottom outside edge 3). Horizontally: 1.8cm in from the outside edge, Vertically: 19.5cm up from the bottom outside edge 4). Horizontally: 1.8cm in from the outside edge, Vertically: 28.8cm up from the bottom outside edge These are the MOST difficult to disengage. Simply running a guitar pick or screwdriver or slidey bar between the edge and screen doesn’t work. In the past, I’ve been too gentle on the edges and like a surgeon separated the screen glass from the screen digitizer ruining the entire PC. My suggestion is to stick a screwdriver or a block of something inside the stand hole, between the cover and the body to keep up the pressure on the back case as you go along. Since there is nothing to release along the visual edges, you have to pull the bottom, slide along the side, relax, pull, slide, relax, technique along the bottom and edges until something eventually gives. Hopefully, it won’t be your patience. Fingernails are sometimes the best weapon. TOP: There are 8 cover plastic nibs spaced evenly along the top edge, 4 to the left and right of the camera slide switch. You might try inserting a very thin guitar pick along that edge. I didn’t because I was too afraid of killing another PC again. Getting the plastic cover away may be tricky. There are no delicate cables to worry about. You might get a string of rubber coming out from between the side edges but you can lightly glue them back, I used a slight brush of Elmers rubber glue. This is the worst case I’ve ever seen for repairs. The attachment points are way too hard and certainly not made to easily open. I would never suggest this PC because the next repair guy might have to buy you a new one out of his own pocket. Good luck friend, you're going to need it. 😄😉
@@river2593 initially you might think "Yes, just take the parts out and put them in a PC". But realistically No. Among other limitations will be expansion ports, SATA ports and lack of video output interfacing. These components are specially designed for these cases and not just regular parts stuffed in. Normally,All in one PCs are relatively easy to open, except this one.
Can you do a vid where you take all the parts of the pc an put it in a new case because i want to upgrade this shit i bought For school but now i didn’t need it and it was around 250-500 something like that so is there a way to upgrade this desktop to a real pc
Seems like you are from india, if so what quote did you get from lenovo or non authorized store. Because my pc is still under warranty for under 3 months and i have heard that lenovo aio3 are most expensive to repair. Based on your quote it would help me regarding should i extended warranty or not, as approximately it would cost me around 5,500. Thanks Also did your pc underwent any repair so far.
@@SK-em5wq I am Repairing computer and laptops In my own store, Before few days this lenovo was come my store for repair ( issue: no power motherboard problem), Display cracked during opening and now display and motherboard both need to change.
Having the same problem. I am working on a different model, 22itl6. I am going to try a different screwdriver to see if I can get more force on it. Absolutely stupid that it is so difficult. I also could not get the bottom storage drive out even though the Lenovo videos make it look simple. Looks to me like the model I have has a hidden screw holding the drive assembly in that prevents it from coming out the way Lenovo shows it. I have to wonder it there is something more to removing the back cover that we are missing. I have generally found that if something is unusually difficult to remove, then there may be a missed screw or something still holding it. Not sure if that applies here.
Looking closely at the video, I thought a little extra persuasion at the outside edge of the bottom trim piece that pops up might help. I used a metal spudger and pried gently while turning the screw and that did the trick.
In the process of removing the back, I managed to crack the screen. Absolutely terrible design by Lenovo. When you are prying the back off, make sure that your prying lever goes under the black plastic support behind the LCD panel, not under the thin LCD panel itself. I somehow managed to crack it at the top after having the bottom loose. What is especially crazy is that I only needed to upgrade the HDD that was in the bottom removable panel. On the model I am working on, the small cover piece comes off, exposing the HDD caddy, but rather than just pulling out, there is a small screw holding it that can only be accessed by removing the entire back panel. The most idiotic design I have ever seen. They changed it on other versions of this AIO so that you can get the hdd out without removing the back panel.
all those types of machines are the same. very high possibility of breaking the screen. my shop refuses to do them. it is not worth the risk or hassle.
