Most Asian nations like korea do way better job of keeping their streets cleaned compared to the USA. IN Japan citizens will clean up sidewalks as part of their duty s a citizen in the area for example

Im a people-watccher lol walking around in the streets of Korea during the evening/night would've been so much fun to do. When I lived in Stockholm in Sweden, me and a group of friends used to do it almost every weekend. Just head out into the city and walk among the party people.

Hongdae is known to be a tourist location and has a very big night life culture. Hongdae isn’t all there is to Seoul, and Seoul isn’t all there is to Korea. That’s like if someone were to say they don’t want to go to France because Paris sucks, or they don’t want to go to the US anymore because they saw the awful reality of LA and NYC. Just do your research, get familiar with the culture and with different areas of Korea, and then you can decide where in Korea you would like to visit, or if you’d like to visit at all.
