Sample transfer into the BSL-4 laboratory

In the BSL-4 laboratory, scientists and technicians also handle samples from patients suffering from Ebola virus disease, Lassa fever or Marburg virus disease. The samples are delivered to RKI by specialized messengers in properly secured containers cooled by dry ice and transferred into the lab through a transfer tank or chemical shower.
