    I've had this for a few months and I was pretty excited to get my hands on it because metal plunger tubes are really nice. Low friction, higher durability, way better tolerances: I was pretty stoked to get this in my Prophecy (which is just a kit version of a NERF Retaliator). Does it live up to my expectations?

    With the breach maybe use a little Teflon tape for a better seal

    • @Side85Winder
      @Side85Winder 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Agreed the front seal just needed a bit of tape to make it fit more snug. Its not even that far off from being perfect so tape is the perfect solution for the seal.
      But then he doesnt have a bolt action kit which i am not familuar with. Seriously just use a talon claw freaking amazing and a good size with tones of power.

    I want to put this kit in a raptorstrike with a half dart breach

    Yes, I am definitely getting this kit, I ruined 2 retaliators trying to get the plastic expanded plunger in. Then I found out I needed the extended spring and stock...

    I don't recommend this kit for the CEDA or the Prophecy!!! It 100% will break!!! GUARANTEED!!!
    Walcom as always love your work!
    This kit is essentially a copy of the CEDA kit they made first. I got my CEDA on that kit... That Spring is 16kg that does have tons of power... I run my CEDA kit with a Monkee Mods 30cm barrel with a Accuracio Scar. It now has a 230fps average. Here is the problem with this kit... I have had 2plunger rods break in exactly the same spot. The material is POM and is a very durable material, but the way the head has been machined up has a very very thin point where there is only 1mm of material thickness. Now I only had the original padding that was supplied with the kit, and it broke at the first war I used it at. They replaced the plunger and I added even more padding, like what I use in my Longshot. It definitely lasted longer, I tested it very over a week putting nearly 2000 darts through it casually. I was stoked with it's performance, and improved accuracy on this set up compared to the Jet internals. So I decided to try it again at a war. It almost made it through the day... During the last battle it was dominating and then, it would not catch, the plunger had broken again. Now I had been spamming through mags all day, no dry fires because I know how to count my shots... But it obvious this plunger does not like continuous heavy use.
    I cut the breach end off a Original CEDA Plunger tube so I could see how fast the Plunger was moving by firing it over my Chrono, and it was doing 72fps, that's just over 80km per hour...
    So in a nut shell here is the problem... The Plunger head has the hole in the middle where the breach slots in and pushes the plunger back, and the plunger head on the opposite side is tappered down to the catch section... This is where there is not enough material strength, this is where it is 1mm thick.
    I took all the bits to a friend who is a retired Nitro Funny Car Engineer who specializes in pistons and compression. And his words were, "even if this plunger was made out of metal, it would still fail over time due to the design. It has a crumple zone in it like a car body. Putting more padding on it worked like a bull bar on a car, it only slows down the rate of damage when hitting something, but if you keep doing it it's still going to break eventually."
    The Expanded Plunger for the Prophecy it a more durable rod, and on a 28n spring, with the seals not leaking the right lube and a 30cm barrel I am getting a very solid 220fps with solid tips and 207fps average with Sweet Orange's... It's a harder prime than the skinny 16kg spring, but it doesn't fail even after my idiot mate dry fires it a few times in every round at a war.
    My CEDA kit has not made it through TWO WARS! And for something to fail in the exact same way, even after taking more precautions to attempt to stop it from happening again, says there is a major design fault in the Plunger Head design...
    Anyways that's my 2 cents worth of info. All I will say to finish this off is "Buyer Beware!"

    Actually the point of this kit is not to improve fps compare to worker plastic plunger tube. But is to provide a expanded pt for Retaliator without too much shell work and make the performance on par with prophecy.

      @jaysonsmith9971 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hello, I agree it does make less work for the install, but if the plunger is going to break regardless, its still not worth the money they ask for the kit... Also the plungers are not cross compatible... so the tube is useless without the plunger. Its not compatible with any of the other plungers you can use in either the CEDA or the Prophecy... So why then??? AK seriously needs to address the integrity of the plunger, because in its current state, if it only lasts 2500 shots before it breaks, is it worth the money??? In one 2 hr war I can go through 28 mags or 420 shots, and allowing for tuning and testing, lets say if your lucky and get 3000 shots, its really poor mileage for this kind of product, especially compared to other versions of the product per dollar spent. Regardless of what blaster your sticking it into... I am not one for needlessly pooring money down the drain, because poor manufacturing and design causing failures and breakages.

    Finally a review of this kit. The promotion's said that the spring is around 16kg and prime is lighter than 28n with roughly the same power because it does not have precompression. Wonder if the front seal is what's hindering this kit's power...

      I tried wrapping teflon tape and stuff under it too, that didn't fix anything. You can see that when I try to pull the bolt out of it and it sticks a little.

      @@WalcomS7 i believe that this kit is made by akblaster mod, and is supposed to be used in conjunction with their brass breech kit. Maybe some day you can get it too and review it.

    That spring looks kinda like the ones I use for airsoft looks kinda like a oh idk maybe a 150 spring never seen them used in need before because some of them might not have enough power to justify the usage of it

    I'll see if I can get this kid from...well, anyone that isn't NFStrike or one of its shell companies; I have a few OG yellow Recons to sacrifice for the cause; one of which is missing the stock attachment sleeve AND the barrel attachment, and the old dart tooth mech is seized. T'would be convenient if I didn't need to go sourcing replacements.
    Think the kit'll fit inside a Longstrike?

      I recently purchased a bunch of springs from aliexpress you can pick any OD and thickness you like you have no idea on what kg compression they are though its all a bit of guess work. I grabbed a handfull for my caliburn found a 25mm OD 2mm thick spring is very close to 10kg and a 20mm 2mm thick spring came in arouind 16kg. They both can fit inside the caliburn inside each other with no issue, it seriously makes me afraid to pull the trigger.
