  • Iggy Pop, Bob Dylan & Clem Burke talk about Johnny Thunders, the Heartbreakers and the ‘L.A.M.F.’ album. Iggy met Johnny when the Stooges and New York Dolls crossed paths in the early 1970’s. Bob Dylan played Johnny on his radio show. Clem Burke (of Blondie) grew up seeing the Dolls and Heartbreakers and is a big fan.
Iggy Pop’s weekly radio show can be found at www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b03y...
Billy Rath played bass in Iggy's band on the initial part of his ‘Soldier’ tour in 1980.
Bob Dylan’s ‘Theme Time Radio Hour’ has finished but many episodes can be found online. Johnny was a big Dylan fan; he covered Like a Rolling Stone: • Johnny Thunders 'Like ... and Joey: • Johnny Thunders 'Joey'... (Btw in the 80’s Johnny moved to a private methadone programme when his manager took him and Jerry to a Harley Street doctor.)
Clem Burke’s interview comes from a L.A.M.F. live tribute with Walter Lure, Wayne Kramer and Tommy Stinson, filmed and recorded at the Electric Bowery and available on CD, LP & DVD at the Jungle Store. The full Clem Burke interview is here: • Blondie's Clem Burke o...

Iggy has a song tribute to ol Johnny Thunders called " Look Away" . Beautiful tune
And yes, LAMF is top tier rock n roll. That album opened my eyes. ONE TRACK MIND

I was a Dolls fan as a kid thanks to my parents unbelievable record collection. I wasnt aware of the Heartbreakers till a little later but LAMF like Clem said is such an amazingly great Rock N Roll record. When they did what little dates were left on the anarchy tour they absolutely stole the show and the Pistols and members of the Clash were huge Johnny Thunders fans.

What Iggy says about the other 3 in the band is funny. Scary looking bunch of dudes. I always thought Walter Lure looked like he could be a Batman Villain.

It's funny , Iggy failed to mention going out with the sisters , in last days of Raw Power Stooges..in LA .....
Also he saying Nolan was like John Gotti..... .. ..
No one mentions the potential of the band when Richard Hell was in it....that's the T H I N G.....
That band lit shit on fire. .. ..it was the first " Scarey Punk Band "....
Nolan quit the band .. .and made no other ' moves '......[ Stint W/ Rockats ]
      The H e a r t b r e a k e r s..( Stupid name ...)
That band , caused the solidify of ' Blank Generation '
Gave the Ramones first genuine Kudos
      by stealing Chinese Rocks.......
It's existence was an empty moment.
[ It's my voice heard screaming on Heartbreakers live ....also the Mother's album.....( Total nuts syncophant raver ... ..)
You need to know though , l 'asked '
      for epiphany....while watching them ...
      This was what l got ;
" ....Nothing is going to happen for this band....."
      I started screaming.......😵‍💫

Especailly since Lure was successful as hell and lived a double life on wallstreet. He was loaded by the early 80s and eventually the insanity that surrounded the Heartbreakers must of been far too much a risk to take on.

@@phantompanther648the heartbreakers could pack the clubs in all the major cities around the world. They were signed to record labels. It became a niche band. A lot of influential and successful musicians listened to the heartbreakers. I wouldn’t call it an empty moment.

I watched this movie called Room 37 about his death. It’s a very confusing movie. It made me think that he was murdered because of the money that was on him and the area he was in he just got caught in a circle of bad dudes over drugs. But he did have advanced leukemia too. It’s very strange

Mix? I thought it"s been pretty acknowledged that it was bad mastering that ruined L.A.M.F. 1:39 Sounds like some intern shoved a note under Dylan's nose and he read about who Johnny was. Actually, it sounds like someone with a clothespin on his nose trying to be Dylan even though yeah, I know it's sadly him.

It had to do with the vinyl pressing plant their record
company used. Found Masters refers to the fact that the original masters were lost shortly after release, so it never got a proper re-release and different mixes and mastering were always being used.
What is inaccurate about what is Dylan saying exactly?

    • @misterslats
