      We might be getting started with battery powered locomotives, but Windows batteries are dead it the trains going to have a lot of extra weight just sitting there. Diesel electric locomotives, on the other hand, don't really need to worry about running out of battery.

    I respect railroads and railroad crossings. As on a 4 way stop signs we all must look both ways. I do the same at a railroad crossing even when there is no sound or gate action. Who looses we in a car, truck or on foot you and I do. Thanks to our American Railroads.

    At crossings that have 2 tracks I've seen many people get impatient & immediately cross over right after only 1 train passes while the gates are still down for the last few seconds not thinking a second train could be coming on the other track.

    • @jfournerat1274
      @jfournerat1274 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I’ve heard of incidents where a vehicle went through a railroad crossing with multiple tracks immediately after a train passed and were then struck by a second train that was on the other track. One of those incidents which happened in the year 2000 involved a fire truck and unfortunately a firefighter who was inside the fire truck was killed in the collision.

    get rid of quiet zones and educate the majority, they have no say in the matter in which they have no education or understanding of or about.

    I remember when there was a group of little girls waiting for a slow intermodal train to pass. And as soon as the last car passed they bolted across the tracks. They got lucky because there was not a train on the second track behind the double stack intermodal train. They also don't honk at the location. But if there was another train it would have ended very badly

    and the next comment of emotional stress is also notable as the stories about the police have a few saying something like "Suck it up, buttercup. Your not a real man if you can't handle this little incident. I've killed 10 people in my 3 year career as a cop and I sleep fine at night"

      I had a hard time understanding your point but I think it's that there should be better barriers at grade crossing. In many places in Europe and an increasing number of crossings in the US, hydraulic barriers that come up out of the roadway have been installed. They are, however, extremely expensive, and four are required per crossing, so it's a slow process.
