Dude, mechanic of 17 years, buying one of these, and as far as people giving you crap about the way you say breaker bar, after watching your videos, your voice is what I hear in my head when it think breaker bar, that's Awesome.
Thanks SUM; It is a handy tool. I used it earlier this week for leverage on a caliper bracket that I could not get on it with a ratchet. Thanks for watching
Thanks for the suggestion. The tool in primarily used on the rear wheels where access to the bolts is limited. The tool is of no value whatsoever on the front wheels because of the ability to turn the wheel as you point out. A conventional socket and breaker will do the job quite nicely on the front.
Old video - I know. Those tools are great. In that situation I just tap the wrench with a 3-4 lb hammer to break it loose. Adds shock to the bolt and easily starts the loosening process.
Thanks for the video but I have one question on the usage of this tool. It's obviously not symmetrical due to the protruding 1/2" drive recess. What if I needed to turn that nut/bolt counter-clockwise in this demonstration? Wouldn't I have to mount the extender from the opposite side of the wrench, which renders the 1/2" drive recess facing away from me? There seem to be limitations to the application of this particular tool. Perhaps they should have offered two different models with the "jaws" or "hooks" at different positions.
I see what you mean. I just spent a few minutes playing around with it. Under certain circumstances the tool has limited uses. I agree they should have a right and left handed versions of this tool. I am going to see what i can find. Thanks for bring that to my attention.
You are spot on! I just got one for a specific task - to remove a seat bolt with limited access (due to the seat holder bending back over a little above the bolt). But having got it, I realise its really designed for tightening bolts, and in my application the attachment side will be facing down into the floor of the car - likely raising the spanner off the bolt! Not tried it yet but seems to be a silly mistake. The application in the video only works because its on that side of the car and the bolt is facing the opposite direction to the access. I'm sure it will come in handy for bolts in tight places where a socket wont fit, and the use on an extender is handy to know where access is available on that side.
Hi Richard.....this is an interesting video and thanks for posting, i was not sure to purchase the K tool or the chrome extender, but now i have watched your video and you have demonstrated using the K tool with extension bars this would be a more versatile tool to have in my collection. Im in the UK and a British company called "Laser" produces both these versions so will order one soon, your videos are very well explained and produced and i have enjoyed viewing them, thank you, best regards, Stefano.....
@@richardspaulding5035 Thanks Rick i will order one, i could have used one recently to remove the oil filler plug on a front transaxle, not only was it very tight and i supect tightened by an air tool, but had threadlock applied as well, yet the drain plug was not tight and no threadlock?
Thanks Dan; A while back I was forced to cut off one of my good wrenches so I could stick a pipe over it. I decided to search the internet for a better way and came up with this tool. I don't use it a lot but as you saw in the video sometimes it comes in handy. Thanks for watching my channel
@@richardspaulding5035 yes Your idea worked well ! Was trying to break a bolt in a tight spot for a caliper bracket like in your video, got the extension bar...and worked like a charm! Thanks my guy 🔧👌🏽
It seems to be out of stock everywhere. There is another product almost identical called Laser Tools Universal Wrench Extender Adaptor - 7017L. This is available on both amazon and eBay. Let me now if you get one
If you look at it from the point of view of the camera it looks to all the world that I am tightening. However, the Ktool is connected to a wrench that is loosening a bolt from the other side of the caliper. So if you look at it from the point of view of the other side of the car you would see I am indeed loosening the bolt.
I believe it only works with loosening.. there's another model that you can go either direction... i'm doing research and what I can get. I tried a few things are ready and I can't get the bolt off. It's the tie rod, lock nut the inner part of the outer tie rod is locked in place with a nut and whoever tighten that which more than likely is the manufacture really went down on it is no rust at all but I can't get torque on it .. of course, I can't find his tool anywhere, but I'd have to order it.. of course, she can't really get under the car without a Lift , I was going to even go as far as asking different shops in the area if they can just loosen them up for me...lol
I only use mine for loosening. Some of those can be really tough to loosen. I hate to suggest you abuse your tools in such a manner, but I would try hitting the wench with a hammer if you have not already. Parret nose vice grips are helpful to hold the rod while you apply torque. Keep in touch I am interested in how this turns out for you.
@@richardspaulding5035 yeah I tried hitting it I wasn't gonna destroy my wrench.. so I put everything back my wheels and stuff. I'm trying to loosen a tie rod lock bolt , the manufacturer tightened it so tight. I'm having a difficult time removing them because I need to replace both my tire rods.. but I ordered this tool that you just showed in this video since I am going to be turning it to the right to loosen it I'm fine plus I can use a breaker bar but I also got a 21 mm Crowsfoot coming to from Home Depot. I've ordered both of them I have to pick them up in a couple days, if they don't work, or I don't like the tools I can return it back to Home Depot.. but I need to get it done within the week because I have a new set a tires coming.. I also have to do the upper control arms because they're totally destroyed. Bad replacements. I already did them two years ago. The rubber just didn't wanna last good thing they have warranties on them for life... now they're going for like 100 apiece it's ridiculous they were only like $30 2 years ago the same upper control arms.. but they are warrantee that should get them in there when I go to the store then I'll have to get a wheel alignment..
It was on the rear wheel, Could not turn it. You are correct however, had it been the front I may well have been able to turn it enough to get a breaker on there.
how about tightening that bolt back up? now that extender needs to go on the other side of wrench to which you won't have an access. there is 100 times better solution to extend wrenches. those all extenders you have have their limitations.
Dude, mechanic of 17 years, buying one of these, and as far as people giving you crap about the way you say breaker bar, after watching your videos, your voice is what I hear in my head when it think breaker bar, that's Awesome.

Just ordered the wrench extender then I saw your video review. Very nice video. Thanks your time.
Thanks jeff
Absolute genius - I would have never figured that out on my own. Thank you, Richard Spaulding, Ph.D.
Thanks, I find the tool most useful for rear caliper bolts
Thanks man! Solid demo! I'm all about eliminating a big struggle -- will be gettin' one !
Thanks SUM; It is a handy tool. I used it earlier this week for leverage on a caliper bracket that I could not get on it with a ratchet. Thanks for watching
You could also turn the wheel to the right so you have better access to the bolt.
Thanks for the suggestion. The tool in primarily used on the rear wheels where access to the bolts is limited. You are right. Thanks.
exactly what i was thinkin🤨
You must not listen when he said REAR CALIPER
Thank you for the review of this tool. Im definitely going to pick one up for my toolbox.
It's not something used every day. But at times it is a life saver.
: Me too : 🐢 👍 🐢 😀
Rick thank you so much I have this same extender and had never thought about using extensions for greater access. I really appreciate the tip.
In certain situations, it is a very useful tool.
Very cool. Thanks for showing real world use. I just picked one up (already got the other, in-line one).
comes in handy at times
Many thanks Rick! This is just what I need. Great review!
Thanks Paul; I don't know how long this tool had been available before I discovered it but I am glad I have one now. Thanks for watching my channel.
Nice work sir. For those who are interested it's a K tool # KTI-49403 it is made in Taiwan
Thanks fror the information and thanks for watching my channel

I am very sorry I have taken so long to reply. Yes, that will work as well. Thanks for sharing and watching the channel.
Exactly what I do. I use an old hard heavy rubber mallet and it's worked well for many years.👍😎
