I've used broadcast cameras in the past, and I have to say this compares favourably considering the CMOS sensor size. I was very impressed. I could have used an Equalize filter on the footage to brighten it, but I just left it 'as imported'.
@canonhf100 Without comparable kit I can't make any suppositions. All I can say is that I wasn't expecting the final footage to be as good as it turned out. The manual features allow a great deal of control, but the 'iA' function very satisfactorily deals with 'point and shoot' conditions in less than perfect situations.
@ussprinceton2004 the 1080/60p (I dont know about the lower bit rates) will either not play at all or lag. sony vegas told me I need at least a 3.0 ghz dual core before any fun happens. I, fortunately, have the i7-930 oc'ed a bit to 3.2, 6 gig ddr3 ram, and ati 5770. In retrospect, I recommend not using sony vegas, as it is unable to render 1080/60p video without "running out of memory". But uploading doesnt matter on the computer since it is dependent on your internet service.
I own a Dell Inspiron E1705 laptop. It has an Intel Core duo processor T2250 @ 1.73GHz 1.73 GHz, 1GB of RAM, 32-bit Windows 7 Ultimate operating system, ATI Mobility Radeon x1400 graphics, 17" color screen. Will I be able to use the included Panasonic HD Writer AE 2.1 software and upload HD videos from the HDC-TM700 into youtube?

This is just about the coolest thing ever! I hear people whispering in the back...is it the Others?
The lens on the TM700 equals 35mm. An adapter has proven itself useful, but don't skimp on quality because it does show!

Ha ha! If it was The Others I think I would have got the heck out of there!
