    First introduced to his patients by Dr. Maximilian Bircher-Benner, this Swiss health food has become a creamy treat in the Riley family. More fruit, more nuts, and a ton of whipped cream make this a dish for breakfast, lunch, dinner, or dessert.

    OMG. Finally, someone that pronounced it correctly!
    My father was Swiss and he used to make it exactly the same as you! Including the bananas! Melbourne Australia! Thanks 😊

      Yeay. Glad you got to enjoy Birchermüesli from your father. It was always a treat in our home when I was a kid. In fact, my mother once stayed at the Bircher-Benner Clinic.

    Interesting. My family is from Basel, so ours is a bit different. Also, ours is a meal, usually dinner in the summer. We use yogurt instead, add some sugar. Let oats yogurt sugar sit while prepare the fruit to be added. Make sure you have enough to coat lots of fruit. You can add whatever fruit you like--lots of it. Apples, bananas, cherries, watermelon, cantelope, grapes, peaches, apricots, etc. YUM!

      Yes, I usually eat with yogurt - whipped cream for special treat. Both are good.

    Ice-cold beaters, that is a very clever trick Kevin, i have seen many chefs using a cold bowl but never cold beaters, thank you! :-)

    • @DineNastyLakers
      @DineNastyLakers 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@KumasKitchen haha, a double meaning, I love food hence dining, sometimes too much where I eat too nasty, eat too fast like a vacuum. Lakers just because I'm a Laker fan. Second meaning, "Dynasty" of the Lakers, just a play on words.

    • @KumasKitchen
      @KumasKitchen  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Aha. My brother may also be a Lakers fan. He's a big Dodgers fan. Basically anything LA. He lived moist of his life in LA, and just recently had to move to Oregon - but his heart will always be in LA. Myself, even though I never lived there, was a LA Kings fan - mainly because I thought the black uniforms were cool and it annoyed my Canadian friends.

    • @DineNastyLakers
      @DineNastyLakers 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@KumasKitchen that is too funny. I used to live in Vancouver and i used to wear a Ducks jersey to annoy them haha. I love the dodgers as well. But Lakers are my favorite.

      Great thing about Birchermüesli is that you can use whatever fruit. I've eaten with cantaloupe, apples, mandarin oranges, etc.

    Please add more Swiss recipes. Including Christmas cookies, like Brätzeli, Baseler Leckerli, & the almond crescent moon ones. (Cant remember the names) 1 called Anis (brotli?) & ones that have "feet" Anis Springerli?

    • @KumasKitchen
      @KumasKitchen  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I love Basler Leckerli. Haven't had any for awhile. We usually pick up a big bag when in Switzerland. For the crescents are you thinking of Mandelbrot?

    This looks delicious. At first I thought you use Joghurt instead of whipped cream (from the videos thumbnail) but whipped cream makes it definitely much more delicious. A healthy weight gainer I would say ;) Have to try it. Thank you for sharing...

      Kuma's Kitchen hehe, actually it’s a Jewish desert, u can find that in any Jewish delicatessens(but they are really hard to find, only a handful in Manhattan or around NYC.) it’s a unique taste, but the sour of the cream, and the sweetness of the fruit make it unique. 😊🌹 my dad always has it with frozen fruit(mostly strawberries and blueberries(or each of those alone), but also he uses bananas. Which I think is my fav. 😊 I like all but, the banana version is better.
      If u wanna try each, try making a small bowl of each (one with SC & strawberries, one with SC & blueberries and one SC & banana) and see which one u like. U can also mix the fruit together if u want too. There’s no wrong way of making it. 😊 Lmao listen to me, I sound like u now hehe! 😅🌹

    • @KumasKitchen
      @KumasKitchen  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I'm going to try it. Sounds good. We often eat dried fruits (esp. figs) with cream cheese. Delicious. And I agree, there's no wrong way to eat müesli - unless by adding commercial cereal.
