This is why I watch these. There’s so much I don’t know about how these gods work. I didn’t know how to get Raijin’s other ult effects from his video and I didn’t know you had full control over Merlin’s stances when switching
Worth noting, the fire 2 protection debuff only works on gods, so you don't need to worry about targeting this specifically to get minions in the center. Of course, you probably want to get them in the center anyways, since it has the biggest area.
My god, that merc literally ulted from left phoenix into the fountain and then just walked up to punch Incon in the back of the head. By the time Merc was even recognizable on the screen, he was already landing the knockout punch. Can't even really say that there was any mistake being made here, because there was a team fight happening in front of him and nothing was suggesting that Merc was going to dive the fountain to get behind them except for that minimap.
As a 5 star merlin (i know thats not much compared to some) i prefer starting in ice with the 2. Mainly because at level 2 your first ability has a very low cooldown and its easier to follow up for the kill by switching to purple with the 2-1 combo. Many different ways to go about playing him though ❤

Fav merlin build is tank merlin.. mystical mail to synergize with his ult aoe.. and warlockstick rush a warriors blessing so you can survive the Close-Quarters combat when you ult a few people. Used to play him like baron with emperors armor and drag people into towers with his arcane stance... but its just more fun to box them all game.
If only there was a magical version of crusher except the attack speed would be 10 CDR and the physical crusher passive would stay, it would make his early game damage and clear so much better

The Aang skin gives me repressed Smite memories of the first time I played Fenrir in joust and I went against a mastery 16 Artio, a mastery 10 Hades, and a mastery 4 Chaac. My team was a Merlin with the Aang skin of course and a Heimdallr who was braindead. All 3 of us sucked. Hard. 20 minutes in the Heim had 5 tier 2 items, no blessing, went 0-16. The Merlin and I were both 1-6-1. The entire time the Merlin was sending me hate saying I sucked and whatever. We lost obviously so the Merlin invited me to an Xbox party where he and the Heim trash talked me pretty hard. When I tried to say it was just casual joust and there was no reason to be so mad over a loss, they both continued the trash talk. The Smite community is not very good to say the least.
Not saying your situation didn’t suck (I’ve been in them one to many times) but I must say don’t let a few asshats spoil the game for you, there’s far more decent humans than bad ones in my experience. Also I would like to add this is a main reason I switched to pc, if someone wants to trash talk I can just mute them in game and boom no text or voice, after that they really can’t do or say anything to get under my skin because on my side they effectively don’t exist. Xbox and ps it’s too easy to spam voice chat In game, message you after game, spam you with party invites, just be annoying in general. Hope you’ve had better luck since then!
Same way just based on your control scheme. Ult then x,a,b or whichever buttons you have the 1,2,3 on. You'll notice the half second while its switching if you look at the ability bar it shows which stance is for which button also.
When ring of hecate came out i used a lot with merlin, since i watch TH-cam guides i stopped using it in exchange of others but what do you think about that? Merlin with ring of hecate.

Edit: They didn't revert this change ever, so his fire 2 DOES NOT, in fact, shred FG or GF protections! Incon, Incon, Incon... What are you doing? They guides are good - and entertaining, as always - but many, if not most, of them have misinformation in there somewhere revolving around kit mechanics and/or interactions. I've got your back though.
Can you provide the number on the vid where he says this to backup your claim here for his 2 on non gods having their protections removed so I can confirm this inaccuracy, thanks!

Both starts are fine. Ice 2 start into fire is better if you’re going mages blessing + tier 1 spear start.

Ring of Hecate is for mage adcs, possibly Poseidon can use it sometimes. Not something you ever want on ability based mage like Merlin.
