T9 Retro - This was fun.

Disclaimer: This is a sponsored review, Deadline Studio did allow me to keep this board but that DOES NOT affect my opinions at all.
Quick note on this, this is an EARLY copy that they sent me with tons of little quirks and what not, I did a deep dive of the board during the live stream and there are some some nuisances with the board, but ultimately it's a lot of fun. The t9 Retro is expected to sell for around 500 USD and will be late march / april.
Tolerances on some peices were WAY too tight and I couldnt actually finish assembling the board do to a tolerance issue with the daughter board but it's being addressed in the final unit.
This is not for everyone and it's going to be for someone who wants a ton of different layouts they can have access too and a premium retro board. It was a lot of fun though!

Deadline makes some cool designs. Looking forward to this board! I think my favorite part is that the angle of the actual keys is more shallow than the angle of the case - bottom modifiers sit at a pretty typical level in respect to the case, then by the time you get to the F row, the TOP of the keycaps is basically flush with the case. I love that for some reason, I'm really digging this board. Also, I love heavy heavy boards sooo yeah. This one's going on the short list

Between this and the MM Studio Class 0413, it's a good time for retro-style enthusiasts. Both are awesome.
Rather than the pen rail add-on, I wish there were just a groove along the forehead so you don't need to choose between F row and pen rail. That would also bring symmetry with the taller macro/numpad column.
Also, 10 points for recognizing the typing experience vs. just the sound.

DOOD the design of this board is the love of my life (5Head gang gang)! That weird arrow cluster you ended up building with is a classic arrow key layout for some older work terminals; NGL I've always wanted a board with that kind of arrow cluster.

HMX switches absolutely suck for soldering, especially plateless. The crooked keycaps are extremely noticeable
