ok i'll admit it...i ordered another mystery thrift box, but this time it was a DISNEY one! every time i upload a mystery thrift box video, i'm always excited about the disney items - so i decided to order one that's JUST disney (or so i thought...)! i won't spoil too much, but HOLY MYSTERY THRIFT BOX GONE WRONG. never again. such a waste of money lol. if i ever try to order another mystery thrift box again, yell at me please! hope you enjoy this plus size mystery thrift box try on haul (size 2XL) nonetheless! xoxox

The Disney Cruise half-zip one actually looks really good on you fit-wise, the embroidery is relatively small, you could get an embroidered patch of something else and cover it with it. I know that’s probably more effort than you’d like for something so trivial but i think it’s a good way to salvage that one (and the fact that despite you buying this might mean a lot of these are getting re-donated and might end up in a landfill anyway, that way you give it a longer lifespan)
^^ agreed that this is SUPER cute, just cover the embroidery with something else because the aesthetic & fit is 10/10
Yeah I liked that one, it’s a vibe for early morning walks with the dog and coffee runs.
The active duty army jacket sent me over the edge. I was dying laughing out loud for a few minutes straight. I also died laughing at the Walmart wrangler jeans that were severely worn 😭😭😭😭 please don’t stop doing the mystery boxes 🥺🥺

Hi Carrie! I think the embroidered Pooh with the honey on the waffle type shirt would be cute with a white long sleeve mock neck. I’ve seen people wearing long sleeves under tshirts recently so I think that early 2000s style is back. As always, thanks for the video ❤

I've yet to ever see a mystery box from anywhere that is actually worth it...I think if it was good they would sell it individually. At least you got a few cute things...
The first shirt is the perfect vintage tee to me. It’s simple and easy to style. I absolutely adore it!
You can always tie dye the one that got ruined in the wash with red dye that way the sleeve blends in!❤ Even if you don’t wear it, someone might repurchase it that way.
Girl I feel you when people make negative comments about something you’re already not happy about it just digs the wound even more. It’s so wholesome to see you excited and happy and enjoying the little things in life, that’s what life is all about ❤️
For the short sleeve Henley you could cut the sleeves at an angle (almost cap sleeve style) and put a thermal under and give it an early 00s/greaser mechanic vibe 🤷♀️ maybe not your style, just an idea! Haha maybe drew would like it that way?

I’m not anti-thrifting by any means and have even grown to appreciate it more thanks to videos like yours, Alexa’s, and Karina’s, but these unboxings very much have the vibe of what thrifting can actually be like as opposed to the rosy-eyed way people talk about and portray it - there are gems but there’s also plenty of dingy stuff.
Also I know that Alexa has also not been super thrilled with mystery boxes and has done a few videos where she goes to the thrift store and makes her own “mystery box” - it could be fun to see you two collab on a video like that!
ETA: also I agree with another comment that seeing you do an upcycling follow-up video would be fun!

I agree. With mystery boxes you'll always have hits and misses, that's kind of part of the deal.
For the henly, you could have someone with more sewing experience add the bottom half of the sleeve in a different colour! Get some henly fabric from the fabric store in one of the colours from the embroidery (i think light blue would be super cute) and then have colour blocked sleeves!

It's so nice seeing a disney v neck. I almost exclusively wear v necks and Disney never seems to have them so it's really cool to know they're out there somewhere.
I would literally cut the sleeves off and replace them with real hentley sleeves, or have it without sleeves all together! You could also do a double button flap moment, depending on how much you want to go into upcycling, versus just fixing them to your liking haha. Always cut so that the seam is remaining on the body section of this top if possible!
Also, crop what you can! I would wear a lot of these, as long as i could find a way to show that i still have a waist!
Also... low key feel like these were mainly mens clothing? anyone else? Also, the tweety bird might be my favorite... just for the checkered race flag!

I wonder if the size determines how good items are. Since we all know larger sizes, tend to pull the short stick in fashion.
Makes me wonder if you got a smaller clothing size, would the haul have better product designs.
I feel bad for saying this because I love Carrie, but I really enjoy these mystery box videos. Something about the anticipatory excitement followed by the disappointment of reality is just so entertaining to me.
CARRIE! For the adorable ringer tee, try Rit Color Remover! I sell vintage clothes (of which a lot are dry clean only but ain’t nobody got time for that), and this has saved my butt a time or two!
Also invest in color catcher sheets! I put two in almost every load of laundry, and it catches almost all dye runoff.

First top would be cute in a marigold color. Otherwise you could experiment with dyeing clothes with Avocado peels and pits (very pretty neutral color) because you're eating so much avocado toast 😁
I get that the prices have to be higher than thrift store because they are collecting and organizing the clothing and the cost of Disney branded clothing can be high but...... they are definitely over promising and under performing.

The winny the pooh button tee would be cute if someone did like a patchwork repurpose. Cut the sleeves off and add some flannel sleeves. I think it's be ADORABLE
7:20 Try styling that Pooh piece with a red long sleeve underneath and some converse. Layer up to make the sleeve length cooler. Throw on a mustard beanie. You could go for some red converse for a matchy matchy look or some basic navy or black ones if you want more subtle vibes.
You should do a video where you dye clothes that you don’t wear so that you actually want to wear them!

For the short sleeve, Henley top, I think it would be super cute. I said, cut the sleeves out of like an old sweatshirt or something and then sew them on after you remove the short sleeves so you also have a two-tone moment.

Try a LS turtleneck (I personally would do white) with the Winnie the Pooh short sleeve Henley! Or a sleeveless turtle for transition seasons? Idk I like the idea of the turtle neck vs a regular collar sticking it the top
You could totally dye the first one and the one that got dyed in the wash! Make sure you keep color theory in mind and dye darker and in the same color family. The ringer tee you could dye red or even tie dye it and you wouldn’t be able to tell! The first one you could dye something really dark like a maroon or navy or something closer to it like a green. An army or forest green would look so good! I’m glad you found a couple gems and I hope you’re able to make some work with sue or just sell them! For the Pooh cream sweatshirt you should try icy clean or you could dye that too. You could do red or a darker yellow and it would totally fit the theme of it!

Tip so that what happened to the Mickey ringer tee doesn’t happen again: buy these things called color catchers. They look like dryer sheets, but they go in the wash and catch color from staining items like that!

These companies RIP PEOPLE OFF! They know that people are expecting cute clothes (which I know is objective), but giving people stained clothes, employee sweaters, and just plain ugly items is uncool. Especially when they advertise with cute vintage looking pieces.
Totally agree! When Carrie said the first T-shirt was stained, I was low-key outraged. Prospective buyers know that vintage means old/previously worn, but we still expect items to be in decent condition. These companies are taking advantage of us by acting as though dingy clothing meets the standard to be sold. Very uncool, indeed.
