I have a blue one and getting a reflective gold one for Xmas and a reflective silver one for my birthday and everybody is calling me spoiled 😡 I hate it and they do cost a lot but I got a discount 😂😄
The best and most amazing part of such scooter is the box he removed that is close to the motor wheel, there’s another such box on each side, these are the gyroscopic sensors. Usually these low-cost scooters have two tilt sensors filled with electrolyte fluid. Like your inner ear, this system figures out its own position relative to the ground based on the tilt of the fluid surface. More advanced models also have solid state silicon gyroscopes built-in, for a total of 5 gyroscopic sensors, those models are $5K+.
When he cut the wheel well off, and exposed the wheel. It reminded me of taking a chain guard off my bike when I was younger.

Old video I know but... there are gyros on each board that sense which way the respective side is leaning in order to accelerate forwards or backwards. Those pressure sensors are only to turn each side on.

You know your iphone and when turn the device the screen turns with it, well that is how a hoverboard balances as the touch pads detect that you are there and the balancing system corrects it up instantly so you are balanced

This was entertaining, and you showed the insides, but as your description states "ever wonders how these scooters work?", you never show how the scooter works...
Detailed info: Those IR sensors are not used to measure tilt to move forward, it's a redundant switch, if one fails, the other keeps the motor running. The boards copied on each side are the gyros which keep the thing level and measure tilt to move forward/backward each motor.
The "motherboard" should be a larger board on the opposite side of the battery which has the motor speed controllers and programming on it to keep things running smoothly.

What's Inside? no prob, I've got a few videos in production now about the safety and some common fixes for these, such as the sensor triggers for the pads and how to see if your battery might be bad. I expect those to come in in a few weeks.
