Just did this, and just wanted to point out, if your ipod has never been opened, it is a bit trickier to get open than he shows in the video, the clips are pretty tight. And id say a thin metal opening tool is mandatory, at least it reallllly helps, and minimizes damage. Id also like to point out, that i used the metal tool to press in the clips like he did, then once i got a bit of a crack going, i used one of the plastic pry tools to help get the ipod separated, i put one of the plastic tools in the crack, and twisted like you would a screw driver and it really helped get it separated. That being said. Thanks for this video, it helped a lot.

Cracked open a 5th Gen classic with your help and familiarized myself with the components… a little different from a 4th Gen classic 😅 but things went smoothly this time.
Tip: Anyone trying to open one of these I highly recommend a guitar pick you’re not using anymore.

This worked perfectly. The only issue was trying to get the headphone ribbon attached correctly since it was a little tougher to push in. Thank you

I unlatch the brown battery connector using a small flathead screwdriver under it, and keep my finger on top of it to make sure that it doesn't get pulled out. It's worked fine for me.

Thank you for a great video. Just changed the battery on my original iPod Classic 5th Gen (that I have had since about 2005/6) using a metal spudger and the job was done in under 10 minutes! Simple. Much easier than a battery replacement on an iPhone.

I successfully did this replacement a little over 10 years ago and needed to do it again. Sadly, this time around, as careful as I was, the battery connector broke off of the mainboard. The PCB traces had probably been weakened from the first time around. 😅

how long should It charge before use? If it dies right when I unplug that means that I probably didn't connect the battery correctly?

I bought aome.if yor products on amazon recently bought your link stuff also. What type of battery does this model in video use also what is the max of battery I can use. Many refurbished ipods say longer lasting battery installed. Always can get a battety that has over hear protection chip . A battery that stops charging when full. A battety that does not over heat also for the ipod classic 5.5 gen 30 gb .
