ALPS | Top 5 places to explore near Samoëns, Haute-Savoie

We brought our family to the mountains for a Summer hiking experience. As we were looking for an affordable AirBnB in the French Alps near the valley of Chamonix, we found one in the town of Samoëns and got to explore this not-so-known area. Here are the 5 places we saw and recommend:
1. The mountain pass of Joux Plane, at an elevation of 1690m (5540ft), is the starting point of several short hikes. There's a beautiful scenic drive to get there from the village of Samoëns.
2. The area of Sales and Anternes have nice day hikes that combine forest, waterfalls, plains, peaks, lakes, and views of the Mont Blanc depending on the itinerary you choose. You also have lodges if you're interested in backpacking.
3. The Rouget waterfall is a powerful waterfall that you can enjoy from a small parking lot along the road.
4. The Cirque de Sixt-Fer-à-Cheval is popular in the area. It offers a main view of the cliffs and several hikes.
5. The ancient Gorges de Tines offer refreshing walks in the forest.
