The atmosphere, lore, the world, the mystery. The SUITS.All of these made DS3 very special to me. The weapon crafting? I actually really liked it. My favorite was a combo javelin and the shotgun spike. But then comes the "other decisions". The universal ammo concept was the biggest hate i had for this game. Back when DS3 was promoted, i asked about this on facebook and an EA mediaperson replied, stating "that this decision was made to make the game more accesible and with the weapon crafting, you could need 4 diffrent ammo types and this was considered to much". To wich me, and many others replied= But DS1 & 2 had 4 weapon slots and thus 4 diffrent ammo types and it worked just fine. They never replied again. It completly killed the survival collecting i loved SO much in DS 1 & 2 The human enemies as Tin mentioned, oh god i hated them so much. I actually liked the feeder enemies but i do agree with the fodder enemies. Very uninspiring. Also screw the love triangle
Aw man, I didn't even mention the ammo, but you're totally right. Universal ammo pretty much means that you are never low on ammo, which completely flies in the face of what survival horror is about. Specific ammo types also incentivize switching between the weapons you're using at any given time based on which types of ammo you actually have. In Dead Space 3, you can craft a killer gun and just use it indefinitely. Another example of it feeling more like an action game at its core rather than survival horror. -Tin
From my perspective, DS3 for me still a likable game. Perhaps maybe i'm from Southeast Asia where in general speaking paying games is a luxury as you can afford to buy it, here people tend to not care or willingly to spend money on a game which requires a bulky PC to run, they prefer those mobile games, quick, easy access and most importantly you can pay to be the top. So to whatever games i experienced or may experience in the future, they still a game which i can kill time and have a bit of fun with.
Dead Space 2 is still the go to play Dead Space game in my book. I played it and passed Impossible many many times and still find it enjoyable till this day. The 2023 Remake did a fantastic job of bringing its mechanics to the OG Dead Space but would I wish for Dead Space 2 Remake? Yes and no. Yes because I can see Dead Space 2 in a more modern graphic. No because I really think there are not many things Dead Space 2 Remake can give to players who already experienced all its goodness from the OG version.
I never played the co-op...it really wouldve ruined my imersion and being like 13 when it came out, it scared me anyways. I loved this weapon customization.
2s probably the best overall but 3 is special to me. No game scratched my cosmic horror itch so well. The setting and vibes almost make up for the gamplay issues, and yea you pretty much nailed them, so i understand you enjoying it less and less on playthroughs. I beat it when it dropped and then once more last year. I played all 3 originals back to back. Doing it like that, 3s combat and enemies felt pretty good to me. It felt appropriate that it shifted towards action and mystery as opposed to horror and survival. But I completely get why it didnt go over so well. I think the crazy monetization and strange inclusion of coop but not really if you play solo "oh hey Carver what are you doing right next to me" killed it. The games got its moments.
Yeah, I get where you're coming from. I think loving the game or hating the game are both valid stances due to Dead Space 3 being such a mixed bag. It's got some of the best cosmic horror elements in the series while also having the worst personal story for the characters. It has great settings but underutilizes them by trying to do to much. It also all stings a little more since this was the last bit of Dead Space we got for nearly a decade. I kind of just wish we got a chance to see where they would take the franchise next. -Tin

Dead Space 3 is the only Dead Space I have played, so I don't know what the Dead Space franchise is supposed to be, BUT Dead Space 3 is a very good space monster shooter😂😂😂. I LOVE the fact that you can customize guns and come up with wacky guns to kill the alien monsters with. My favourites are pairing a shotgun with a rocket launcher or a spike thrower with that hydraulic melee attachment. Is it a space horror survival game ? No, but it is a fun game. Dead Space 3 is more like Doom than anything else😂
even though it’s objectively the worst in the franchise, it’s my most replayed DS game and stands as one of my biggest gaming guilty pleasures
When not compared to the rest of the series I think Dead Space 3 does hold up pretty well. -Tin

As of right now, a remake of 2 isn't being worked on or even really considered. EA has the Remake team spread out on other projects atm - Tin
