8 years ago I wouldn’t have even given this video a thought.. now it’s an important new part of my life. So glad I found this world of Locksmithing. Better late than never!
Very helpful, particularly the screws into the wood block idea. Mine had a few more cuckoo clock parts inside, but your video was all I needed to get started. Thank you.
Hey Jason, your video shows the changing of the bevel of the latch from right hand to right hand reverse. This type of Baldwin lock is not field reversible, ie: you cannot change it from left hand to right hand without replacing parts. The spindle hub is the main issue, if you just reverse the bevel and try to use your lock on a left hand door you would lock yourself inside when you activate the lock out feature on the edge of the lock. I really like your wood block holding template, that's a great idea.
only a year and a few days behind on replying but you are half correct. t These locks are certainly field reversible (in fact the factory label states it on the ones that are, on this generation of locks) however you are right that I did not fully convert it in this video. Starting at the 10 minute mark where I am reassembling it, I forgot to flip the upper "slide" which is what would cause the lock in situation you mean. Simply flip the upper round sliding "bolt" upside down and its complete. Thanks for pointing this out!
Hi Jason thank you for that video i have seen a similar lock to that one only it didn't have the side buttons just a slider to lock the door from outside so have to use the key or to have the door knobs in and out unlocked so in & out without using the key, I must say you made that look easy so thanks till your next video. G.
Well, well, well..I have the template now for that Baldwin lock puzzle you sent me in the goodie box unassembled. I will see if I can piece it together! I will twitter it if successful 😀
Jim Brown at the 3:30 mark as I was taking it apart I was thoroughly explaining what was happening. Is your volume muted? Anyway, there is a newer version of this process with better video located here th-cam.com/video/yjKPCA1I3u8/w-d-xo.html

Excellent video, especially considering that I couldn't find a diagram online. Very much appreciated!

What was going on with those black bars moving? 😅😂
TH-cam was weird with vertical videos 8 years ago 🤷♂️ I can’t even remember what phone I did that on 😂

Very good and interesting video tank
Excelente muy bueno me ayudo este video
¡Gracias por ver, me alegro de que te haya ayudado!
Thank you for the information
Why not screw down the mortise lock first, then open it? You should have fewer parts go flying.
