There's another Filipino BBQ that is very famous in the Philippines, It's Chicken Inasal. A lot of Filipino and even foreigners loves it.
I was waiting for Vinci to mention Inasal with the mention of toyo+calamansi dip. Koreans who have been to the Philippines love Inasal. And if we're talking about different kinds of barbecues, we have a lot even including isaws. 😅
Its seems like they just mentioned the very best food. So yea, lechon is really no. 1!! 😂

Lechon is probably one of the best pork barbecue even the late famous food critic Anthonny Bourdain call it the best pork dish.
It is very simple but time consuming. No complicated recipes and spices needed.
Just salt, pepper, lemongrass, onion garlic and soysauce.
It's like your eating the purest form of pork. Like other barbeques rely on barbeque sauce, spices etc.
Lechon doesn't need those things.
I'm sure all the barbeques here are delicious.
Though I promise you that when you eat lechon you will be tasting what really Pork taste without complicated sauces or recipes.
i absolutely agree wiith u. Lechon is a must try if u haven't. you'll surely be amazed how tasty it is and the skin is so crispy and the meat is so juicy. But you must try Cebu Lechon

"Lechón" is a Spanish word and the cognate of "leitão" in Portuguese, meaning a piglet in English.

@@BucyKalman The name is Spanish, but the dish is native (it actually has a native name, rarely used today - "inihaw na baboy"). it just acquired the Spanish name because it's similar enough to the Spanish dish. Kind of like Filipino "adobo" (which is extremely different from Spanish adobo), or other Filipino dishes with Spanish names that don't actually exist in Spain or Latin America (like arroz caldo, hamonado, afritada, balbacua, curacha, etc.). They have Spanish names because prior to the modern period, Filipinos spoke Spanish as the lingua franca.
As Crystal said above, the biggest difference is that Spanish lechon is piglet, while Filipino lechon is fully grown. Spanish lechon is also cooked in an oven and is cut in half. While Filipino lechon is stuffed and cooked over an open charcoal pit. Then there's the ingredients. Filipino lechon uses fully native ingredients, notably lemongrass, black pepper, native sour fruits called batuan, etc. It does not use chilis, oregano, basil, or any of the European/Latin American ingredients.

If I'm not mistaken, this Brazilian girl has moved out of Brazil when she was very young, so she doesn't remember some of the basic things straight away as someone else would. I'm sure she is trying her best and having fun, though, that counts :)

As Indian we have many different types of bbq and as special Punekar we have Misal BBQ 😏😏 that’s too vegan and with spice 😏 and ya kulad chai is like bbq tea only 😂😂
I guess without trying every food it's a bit unfair to vote for them, personally as an indian who never ate other country cuisine I feel indian cuisine supremacy the options we get with tandori is vast like we indians know that we eat tandori as side dishes or starter rather than main course not like any other country in above video. Aside from "LEchon" Here in the Philippines we also have different exotic BBq such as Chicken feet, pork blood, intestine, liver and gallbladder.. we also have goat lungs and different internal organs.. YOu must try it if you want to experience this kind of Food.

Aside from Lechon being grilled in several ways in the PH, you could also grill certain types of seafoods and crustaceans as well - Milkfish (those big ones), freshwater fish, etc. Even some hotdogs on the side too. PLUS the famous Chicken inasal~ 🍷

Filipino regular barbecue should be cooked like this.
1. Marinated chicken or pork with seasoning, lots of seasonings Eg. Liver spread, soy sauce, lemon/calamansi, salt, banana catsup, coco vinegar, red unions, crashed garlic, mint grass, lemon grass. Put it in low temperature fridge and leave it for overnight marination.
2. Should be grilled slowly on charcoal (the best charcoal is from coconut because of the coco aroma).
3. Should be serve with a sauce mix with vinigar, soy sauce, unions, powered pepper, hot chili or simply mang tomas sauce.

I honestly click the video because of Vinci haha. Yeah lechon is a must try food, the crispy outside and it's tender juicy meat is the best! Another variants are chicken inasal if you are into chicken and pork bbq in sticks which is the marinated one and in sweet sauce. There are so many other kinds and types of grilled food in the Philippines but the most favorite and easily find ones like on the streets are those I mentioned. You will be amazed of its taste, yum!😍
Aside from Cebu, Iligan City lechon is also a must try. One of the best tasting lechon I've ever tasted. Another popular lechon variant is the lechon maalat from Zamboanga 😁

One good argument why lechon in the Philippines is the best because you can eat on an everyday basis but you can serve it on a feast, gatherings, thus, it is special!!!
Pinoy (Filipino) barbecue usually looks like kebabs. Cubes of pork with fat skewered in a stick marinated with sauce of ketchup, soy sauce, aromatics, etc., then grilled usually on streets. Filipino barbecue is usually like one stick for person.
