One tip I have is that if you have more pigmented lips is while you are applying your foundation use the foundation to cover your lips. It makes the lipstick that you apply true to color. It's like a blank canvas for your lips.
Hi and good morning. Would that help to keep my red lipstick from feathering? Sure is a frustrating problem. I line them with clear liner too. Thank you!
@@Zabrena. Thank you. Yes I do have the putty primers. Actually in desperation I have all the elf primers trying to get this resolved. I appreciate you! Christine.
How about a couple of perfume tips from an old cosmetics counter saleslady? First one comes from Estee Lauder herself- your hair is the most porous thing on your body. To make your fragrance last longer, flip your head over and spray the back of your neck, then throw your hair back over your neck. This way, the fragrance will diffuse throughout your hair without making it greasy, and the scent will last longer. This tip is particularly good for colognes or weaker fragrance formulas. Next tip is what we sneaky counter ladies do with tiny sample vials of perfume- you can pour them into unscented body cream or lotion and create your own perfumed body products 😉
I discovered that using a dry blending sponge to tap out my concealer works great for my crease-prone under-eye area, as well as any other lines and creases on my face. Also, if you have a face powder that's not working as well as you'd like, but you're still trying to use it up, try using the butt end of your dry blending sponge to tap/roll it on and blend it in, instead of a powder brush. Dry sponges work great for so many things, so play around with yours and see what great results you get!
I like to take 1 spray of setting mist and mix it with my eyeshadows that I scrape onto a mixing palette or sometimes my handheld mirror (lol)and use it with an angled eye brush to apply my eyeliner and wings, that way I don't have to spend extra money on different colored eyeliner pencils😊 and the setting mist helps it to last longer
Love this tip! I’ve started doing this as well, but I bought a 6 pack of neon loose pigments from Amazon, and I love using setting spray and an eyeliner brush. So cost effective and a little goes such a long way!
On stage, we used to leave a bit of space between our upper wing and lower eyeliner to which we would add a bright, matte white, which is similar and provides a similar effect.
My hack is an old one, from Mr. Wayne Goss. ❤ It's been around for a long time, but it's still not well known: Start with your moisturizer, sunscreen and primer. NOW add a *light layer of powder. NEXT put on foundation, concealer, etc. Powder before foundation. You can set all with a light fluff of powder if needed. I live in a Houston-esque climate, and makeup will. not. melt. in the heat and humidity. My other tip is to use a hyaluronic serum - not a multi serum, *just the HA - on my lips at bedtime. Just a drop or two. Cover with Vaseline or balm. In the morning, your lips are plump, less lined, and healthy in a totally different way than the plumping gloss gives you. 👍 Speed Queen and Whirlpool are the brands I swear by. I had a repairman out to tweak my 25 yo dryer, and I asked him which brands he worked on the most, as I was considering replacements. He said he hardly ever works on those two brands, and rarely on *top loading washers. Front loading washers, especially from Korean brands and companies whose name is initials, are his bread and butter. All day, every day. 🙄 As always, your mileage may vary. 😁 Love, peace and joy to you and your family, Z! You keep me going in the awful, difficult, painful month of December. 🙏💖
Also, if you have eye shapes that make doing winged liner trickier, like deep set and hooded, do a rough version with a lighter eyeshadow (eg a light brown for pale ppl), go in with Zabrena's eyeliner technique, and then fill in any gaps with your favourite pencil liner. No one can tell the difference
Hi Zabrena, I love this video, one thing I do to stop lip liners and lipsticks from bleeding,is to first line your lips like you normally do, then blot them lightly with setting powder, dust off any excess, then apply your lipstick, blot lipstick with a tissue, then reapply your lipstick for the final time, ( especially with reds) this tip has help me . Love Katherine xoxo
A tip I learned from Robert Welsh is instead of using a primer, use a hyaluronic acid serum and a very light moisturizer. Only he used a sunscreen instead of a moisturizer. I have mature and on the drier side skin, so I opted for a moisturizer. Anyway for the first time ever, my foundation did not budge! I had tried every tip and trick I came across from TH-cam beauty influencers and nothing truly worked for me. I was so frustrated every day because halfway through the day, my makeup would fade away. I found a pore blurring primer with hyaluronic acid and peptide at TJ Maxx and it works perfectly! This particular one is a little too strongly scented but thankfully the smell fades after applying it. I still have an issue with my crevices being emphasized unfortunately. I have tried many suggestions for that as well, but none have worked for me. I say crevices because technically that's what they are- the smile lines and the verticle ones around my lips are worst! And the ones between my eyes are deep too. I still try though. 😊 thank you for your wonderful channel! You always make me smile...😁
Wayne Goss made a video of just putting one pump of foundation on the back of your hand and spreading it out and placing 13 dots on your face. Three dots on each cheek, three on the forehead, Two on the chin and two on the nose. And blend it out with a brush or damp sponge. It's wonderful. Check out his video, he explains it way better than me.🤣🤣
I found that since I’m so very dry. That if I take a small amount of my foundation with my moisturizer it gives me just a bit of skin tint. And it don’t get patchy.
Adjusting your mirror is a great idea. It also works when you are filming to have your camera a little higher so you’re not perceived as looking down on people. It’s a subtle thing we use when making films, but very effective. Love how down to earth you are and good at explaining things. Great
I have very hooded eyes and found that if I bend over my handheld mirror when using my lash curler, I don't pinch my eyelid skin and I'm able to actually get all of my lashes into the curler. Love this video!!!! So many new things to try out!!!! God bless and Merry Christmas!!!
I have some nerve damage in my right eye and it waters...all the time. It turns my eyeshadow into a crusty mess. A dot of Vaseline in the corner of your eye will keep the tears from migrating up into your eyelid/eyeshadow. Game changer
WOW! This is a total life changer! Like you- I had a previous injury to my eye. The constant watering makes me feel crazy! I would have never thought to try this in a million years… THANK YOU ~ hope you have a wonderful holiday 🙏❤️🎄🎁
@@niinafletcher My injury happened when I was 8 years old. So I've been dealing with it for almost 40 years. If I had a nickel for every time someone asked me if I was crying 🙄 I'd be rich! 😆
Thanks for that I’ll try it. I have rosacea causing “dry eye”(which means my eyes constantly water especially on the right side). It wrecks my carefully applied eyeshadow every day. X
Mixing your liquid blush with a bit of your foundation will customize a special color just for you. I may try some of the liquid lipstick just to see if that would work. Lol ❤
My favorite tip I learned this year from IG MUA- stretch the concealer and spot apply foundation. Has made my $$$$$ foundation last longer. I bought Lancôme feint idol ultra wear when it was on sale at Ulta. I use the Ulta no 12 brush (also on sale $11 at the time) to stretch the concealer. Then, I have to use so little foundation and I achieve the still looks like skin look. 😊
I was gifted a sample size of Giorgio Armani Lip Satin lipstick in a color that was much lighter than anything I would buy for myself, #104. This free sample was from Sephora during the VIB Fall sale. I love the formula, but the color is just off for me. So I started using it under my sheer lip balms, and now I have a group of cool nudes. I never thought I'd fall in love with a lipstick, and dang it had to be an expensive one... Thanks for the video Zabrena!
Wow, Zabrena, I have tried the trick with water in the undereye...AMAZING. First thing that works on me to leave the undereye lookin natural using concealer. Years of triying different concealers, cheap, expensives and in between, never geting a really nice result, but with this trick, It really melts with my skin , lookin great.Thank you, thank you, thank you❤
I'm very fair, & I use a tiny bit of a light pink color corrector (like Milani Conceal + Perfect Undereye Brightener in 01 Rose) at the outer corners of my eyes & just beneath the ends of my eyebrows instead of a concealer, & I think that brightens things even better than concealer does. I also lightly dot the color corrector above my eyebrows & blend it in with a clean concealer brush, & that helps make my eyebrows look more lifted, too.
The brush technique is my favorite, I do it all the time now. I like the powder first one too. I just heard a tip for red lip color, stain your lip first with a liquid lip red, then apply your red, blot, powder over tissue, then dab some lip back on. I also like the eyeshadow three stripe tip I’ve been doing this year. ❤ merry Christmas!
To help open my hooded eyes, I switch the placement of the outer corner dark shade and the brighter lid color. With the dark shade in the inner corner; it gives the illusion of more open eyes.
Great tips!!! I just bought a new washer and dryer, got a top load General Electric and front load dryer. Love them , my old set was so old and washer quit agitating and draining. It was a mess
I have figured out for me, foundation’s just don’t work. Or at least I haven’t found one that doesn’t look good on my skin. They always just sit there. So I have been using my concealer stick as my foundation. I don’t require or like a full foundation look. So for me this has been a game changer. I tried Jones Road by Bobbi Brown their stick concealer. Love it so much I ordered a 2nd one in the fall😊 Thank for sharing your tips with us❤
We definitely need another video like this…at least I do. The last three years I haven’t worn much makeup because I have 2 rare cancers and they took me out of work. I am on my 6th chemo drug in three years and will turn 44 Dec 30. Now that I’m getting back into makeup again, and learning how to really do it (I used to only wear a BB cream), I have discovered that my skin has changed so much and I think my makeup looks cakey and on thanksgiving my glitter eyeshadow would not stay in place despite using glitter glue and setting spray. I need help!
