Like so many other middle aged surfers of today who grew up in the 80s & early 90s, I thought Brock was Superman reincarnated. I was a Momentum kid, and just like them, my friends and I all looked up to Brock, Cheese, Sunny and those dudes. I knew he had cancer and heard when he passed, but I had only read about it. For years, I stayed away from any vids showing him sick. I just didn’t want to see another childhood hero in that state. Only a year earlier I had watched another hero of mine, my father (who pushed me into my first sandbar breakers), succumb to the same terrible disease after a decade long fight. But I finally watched today. It was difficult, but listening to his positivity was incredibly inspirational. Having that strength and courage, even in the face of death, just proved he was the Superman I had always thought. I know it’s been 6 years, but… Mahalo no nā hoʻomanaʻo Kanaka Nui (hope I got that right). Thank you for the upload✌
I am 45yrs old now.... as a grom I had 2 Brock Little posters on my wall next to my bed... one of the big air drop Waimea take off & the other the huge Waimea Tube, One of my most ultimate Hero’s’ pushed me to charge Big waves’ Thankyou Brock & his family members, & to the Hawaiian surfing community. my respect & kind regards.. from Ben...
I was there that day bodybuilding the shore break the photo hangs on my wall I saw him pull in the beach went wild he was always trying to help anybody got bless never forgotten
Use to love surfing and followed the big names and then kinda stopped following, didn’t even know Brock little passed just realized it today and I’m blow away, one of my favs. RIP Brock
I used to surf.. I stopped due to life... Mistake.. And now I realise I need to paddle out again and show my daughter the beauty of the ocean.. May your soul be with the ocean..
Always recognized this guy as having a certain appeal...I think it was because...he was real. An honest respectful, humble character. You showed many a way to live life Brock, you did it right. R.I.P. good man.
Respect from Peru 🇵🇪 Brock. I remember when I met you in Huanchaco when I was a kid. You were with Richard Smith and another legendary Hawaiian Mark Foo, who’s probably riding big waves with you in heaven. I know there’s life after dead because the legends never die 🤙🏼
I remember watching a VHS of that wave as a kid and it did become legendary in my circles. Amazing he truly appeared grateful even at the end. As impressive as the waves he rode. Humbling and inspirational to the end. Thank you for sharing.
I’ve been surfing most of my 58 years lost touch with surfing 10 years ago and only at this very moment I’m learning about Brocks cancer. I was never a big wave rider but I looked up to Laird, Foo, many others and Brock. Of all these big wave riders Brock stood out. I’m really heartbroken
I met a former triathelete who trained with another. This person was a strict vegetarian, trained intensely and lived for the win. He died of pancreatic cancer at 32. His advice for her was to just have fun,eat what makes you smile, and don't follow the regimen he did. Brock lived for the challenge and fun. I always admired him.
Respect from Portugal Brock Little, I am sure you would surf Nazaré at the highest level. What a legend. Rest in peace because true men only die when we stop talking about them.
Through action, a man become à héro. Through death, a héro become a legend. Through time , a legend become a myth. By learning from the myth, a man takes action. Thank you brock!
To me, that picture of Little dropping into monster Waimea, is one of the best surfing photos ever. Nothing's really shocking today but in 1990 that photo was jaw-dropping.
Brock was one of the early big wave hellmen that wasn't in the form of a superhero like Ken Bradshaw or Laird Hamilton. He just did it, wild and fearlessly. With a respectful punk attitude that said -we're breaking the mold and doing whatever we want to.

Agreed. Well said.
I loved him as the host of various surf shows in Hawaii. He was charismatic, funny, and witty. RIP Brock.
He is my age, super fit and healthy and now he's not with us. Very very upsetting. He was a big wave riding legend. Life sucks sometimes.
Rest in peace brother. Thank you for all the inspiration and courage you instilled in me and countless other people.

It is so sad, to see him in such pain, as he was so vital, physically. It is heartbreaking.

Well said, Brock had flow and style. Lightness on his feet like a cat, but true carving on the rail.
So sad. I didn't even know he was gone!
