Girl you need a weekly menu!! We plan our meals on Sundays and then buy all the ingredients at once. It forces us to eat at home and takes the guessing game out of the equation every night. We are realistic if we think we might eat out one night or if there’s a longer work day, we plan an easier meal
Meal prepping: 1. Review your week: any special events/when would you like to eat out? Schedule certain days you would like to eat out (we aim to eat out 2 times/week max. Sometimes once only - this includes take outs and fancy dinners) Block those off. 2. Have a repertoire of favourite recipes you can batch cook. I recommend spending some time searching macro friendly meal preps on TH-cam - there’s TONS of content around high protein meal preps. 3. MEAL. PREP. ON. WEEKENDS. This is the biggest key - it takes some time in the beginning, but the more you do it (and if there’s 2 of you), the faster it can go. Keep it simple. I know you like variety, but in the beginning, I recommend keeping it as simple as possible. Pick a day (Saturday or Sunday) and try to stick to it. Perhaps do groceries on Saturday AM. Then meal prep Sunday before going to church. You’re going to feel so productive. When I skip meal preps for the week, it totally throws me off. My husband and I tag team it: it’ll usually consist of veggie + carb + protein of some sort. Get prepped frozen veggies from Costco and oven roast. Prepare variety of proteins if you want a change (we love salmon/shrimp/chickens) - roast/air fry. Make a big batch of chilli. If you want tacos for the week, prep your ingredients and store in fridge. Eventually it’ll get easier; it only takes us 1-1.5 hrs to meal prep for the week now.
Love watching your content everything that you post is just authentic and that is rare to find on social media today! I love your channel overall it is the most relatable and accurate depiction of real-life struggles, successes, and living in the real world. I appreciate your ability to be vulnerable and transparent with everything you provide us!
Your hair looks super glossy 🙌🏻 Our biggest marital struggle is the exact same as yours. I don’t want to spend my entire weekend grocery shopping or meal prepping or batch cooking. On Sundays we basically just make a note in my phone with the days of the week listed and next to each day is what we’re having for dinner. Usually a couple of days we eat out, and maybe one day we have left overs, and the other nights we cook. I order groceries from the Walmart+ app for delivery and that’s it. One note in my phone, order groceries online for delivery, donesies. Sometimes if we both have a tough day we’ll swap the order of the meals around to accommodate the time and energy we have. We’re usually just trying to find high protein, moderate carb and fat meals online and giving them a try.
My partner and I do HelloFresh - get 2 different meals, that make leftovers. Each of us take 1 of them to cook each week. Then we are on our own for lunches. I do a meal service called FACTOR - the meals are delish and fresh, not frozen. Highly recommend! The weekends, we usually eat out or go to his parents for dinner.
Hubby and I sit down on the weekend and plan our dinners and who will cook what. We then order groceries for pickup, so that part is easy. We have one or two meals a week that work for leftovers because we all know a night will come when nobody wants to cook! It works for us!
The food thing is hard! My husband and I have been married since 2019. We've gone through different phases with meal planning. Here's what has worked for us the past few months: -We cook based on servings. It's only the 2 of us. We aim for 20 servings for the week - that's 4 meals for 5 days. This only includes lunch and dinner. We're on our own for breakfast and my husband doesn't eat breakfast. Keep in mind you know those guys who eat a TON of food? That's not my husband so preparing for a regular portion is enough -We each pick 2-3 meals to cook based on serving size the recipe provides. I cook a few and my husband cooks a few. This has been something we started fairly recently that has been a huge help -Based on our work and personal schedule, we aim to have all meals made by Tuesday night. Sometimes we make one meal Thursday as well, other times we don't -We prefer to eat out on Friday and Saturday so we try to save eating out for the weekend. Of COURSE sometimes the meal we made is crap or we didn't buy enough but we try to do frozen chicken bites or ramen or something quick on those days -Sundays are sorta a free for all. Usually it's a meal with family, leftovers from eating out over the weekend, leftovers from Thursday, frozen chicken bites, or something frozen/quick -Meal pick up every Sunday or Monday from Hyvee. Make a list of the ingredients you need from each recipe. So if I'm making 2 recipes, I'll make my ingredient list. My husband will make his ingredient list. We put it all together in one grocery order. I always order a few staples we always eat, like yogurts, balance breaks, apples, milk, etc that'll get thrown on the list -Every once in a while I actually want to go into the store or if I need specific ingredients I want to physically look at, but for the most part the pick up helps a lot That was a lot lol it takes a lot of planning on the front end of the week but in general I feel like we've wasted less food and bought less. Keep doing the stuff Rach love your vlogs and your openness with your viewers 💜 sending hugs from MN
Cooking for your spouse can be SO HARD. Especially if you have different body types and fitness goals. My S/O was a more of a chunky kid turned gym bro so he is very picky about carbs/fat. His mom is also a very bland cook so he prefers tasteless meat and veggies. I am more of your body type Rachel, never having to worry about calories and being very active with a high metabolism my entire life. I also grew up glued to the cooking channel so I have a very elaborate cooking style. I will spend hours in the kitchen decompressing and making everything from scratch with nutritious, flavorful meals in mind. I grew up in the country so we had a garden and raised or hunted our own meat. When my man and i moved in together we quickly realized that he would prefer to cook his own food on the daily- which really hurt my feelings lol. We ended up compromising and he would make his lunches (we meal prep everything) and I would do dinners, my style. He loves my food but does make comments about it not being simple or has too much fat/etc. I did compromise and I never use butter, only coconut/avocado oil now. I will never not flavor my food so he is out of luck on that but this is how we work lol.
MY husband and I typically plan out what meals we are gonna eat each day of the week. Than we split up who cooks them based on our schedules. We only eat out once a week,
My husband and I just started ordering Factor meal kits and they're healthy, cheap, and tasty! The chicken legit tastes like you're eating Long Horn. Would definitely recommend!
I really enjoy your vlogs. Your hair at the end looked beautiful. Your cat was so cute & funny about wanting cheese. I don’t like cooking but my husband loves to eat. His mom always cooked every night and often breakfast, too. I’ve tried different things. There are certain meals we have often like chicken or beef tacos, buttered garlic shrimp 🍤 or salmon 🍣, chili and potato leek onion soup for colder months. I tried a meal service too, which he loved but it was expensive. There’s a lot of options for meal services. I heard Hello Fresh was great. Many have a lot of sodium like frozen meals do. We try to limit take-out but sometimes do have it. Meal planning and cooking isn’t easy, especially when you have special needs. And my husband & I don’t always like and eat the same thing. I love Chic Fil A but rarely get it (it’s far). Your scrubs were so cute! Did your mom/boss say it’s ok to wear them, although she didn’t like them? 😊
We just started using factor. They are already made meals and they have all the macros and they have different meal options every week. My husband and i have been doing for like a month now. Helps a ton!
My fiancé and I have been using Hello Fresh for a few weeks now & it has really helped us. We never know what groceries to buy and suck at meal planning for the week. We both work full time and dont have a lot of time to spend getting groceries every night. Hello fresh is cheaper than going and getting take out a few times or more a week. Its healthier, no food waste, we like the meals. We buy 4 servings of each meal instead of two so that we have leftovers for lunch the next day and dont have to cook that meal! Another idea is to make more adult lunchables. I've seen people on pinterest and tiktok show their adult lunchables, basically whatever you want. You can do a couple hard boiled eggs, some fruit, cheese, crackers, etc.
I’m at home so I make/prepare dinner for my husband and I. He’s at the office all day. I love cooking for him. On weekends, we make it together 😊 We both are low carb, animal based eating for health. Meat, eggs, cheese, seafood etc. Grocery shopping is easy because we eat the same things. Everyone is different, you guys will find what works for you.
I would suggest getting dual sides air fryer, allows you to bake, roast or air fry proteinand veggies (everything from salmon, burgers, chicken, wings, meatballs) in under 20-25 minutes, ur prep is less than 2-3 minutes
Have each day of the week be a specific meal (home cooked or take out) and repeat every week! Cuts out having to think about it too much and weekends can be for eating out if you want! x
When you're eating cheese, and your cat approaches, you GOTTA pay the cheese tax XD About the meals, my partner and I have a solid routine (that we started out of nowhere): we take turns. Rachel I try not to give advised where it’s not asked/ needed but this will be the only time I promise. The book that helped me a lot because it explains egg quality and how to improve it was “It starts with the egg” it has a lot of tips I didn’t know about and you don’t have to do every little thing the book says but if you pick a few things to change here and there it helps a lot, you can try it while your waiting for your appointment 🙏🏻
Don’t use TruGreen! We used them when we bought this house and it worked great the first month or two and then weeds popped back up and wouldn’t go away! I was told by someone that they use extremely watered down product after the first couple of sprays. We now use a local company recommended by our lawn company and have not had any issues! 🙂
Hmm, why doesn’t AJ make his own meals? My husband and I generally just prepare what we want to eat for ourselves. We tried to do the whole same meal, same time thing but that just didn’t work for us. Sometimes we’ll eat together and cook for each other as a treat but that’s not the norm - maybe a couple of times a week.
It’s their life not yours. I cook for my boyfriend almost every night. It’s what I like to do and another way I show love. If that doesn’t work for you, that’s fine but it’s not for you to come on here and judge another persons life because it doesn’t align to yours. That’s weird, stop being a hater for no reason.

I know that's irritating about the delay in seeing the nutritionist...but you'll likely stick to the lifestyle/diet changes long afterwards if not forever as it'll make you feel so good etc so it'll be valuable nether the less ❤

Falafels and hummus are made out of chickpeas and have tons of protein. You don’t need to eat meat to have protein in your diet
AJ wanting to kill the stray kitties, I’m over here feeding the strays and giving them treats. 😂
