  • Kaziranga National Park, hosting two-thirds of the World’s great one-horned rhinoceroses, is situated in the Golaghat and Nagaon Districts of Assam. Well connected by both airways and roadways, Kaziranga NationalPark is approxly about 250kms from Guwahati. Although all the major airlines like Indian Airlines, Jet Airways and others connect Guwahati with Bagdogra, Kolkata, New Delhi, Mumbai, Jaipur, Chennai, Bangalore, the nearest airport is in Jorhat, Assam. Kaziranga was declared as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1985 for its unique environment. Covering an area of 429 square kilometers, Kaziranga has flat expanses of fertile, alluvial soil, formed by erosion and silt deposition by the Brahmaputra River. With the highest density of Tigers among protected areas in the world, it was declared a Tiger Reserve in 2006. Recognized as an Important Bird Area by Birdlife International, Kaziranga has achieved notable success in Wildlife Conservation. Combining high species diversity and visibility, Kaziranga provides a vast area to large breeding populations’ elephants, swamp deer, wild water buffalo and many other species. Providing brilliant camouflage of the tall grasses the sighting of tigers is very difficult. Although the presence could be felt by seeing the territorial markings. One could enjoy Kaziranga by viewing the landscape along with few species, either elephant safari, zeep or vehicle safari or to experience at your own pace you can also go for trekking with a forest guide. The Kaziranga landscape is divided into four ranges namely - Burapahar Range, Ghorakati; Eastern Range, Agaratoli; Kaziranga Range, Kohora; and Western Range, Bagori. Trekkings are mostly preferable for the bird watchers. Providing with the best accommodations, there exists different hotels, lodge and huts as per tourist’s needs according to their individual budget and comfortability.
