I spent 3 months in a ditch getting coated day in day out 12 hours a day 6 days a week in various coloured ground clays (white, black, grey, green, blue, orange, red) and without a word of a lie it was the most amazing my face had ever been. No excess oil, no pimples or blackheads. I actually had woman asking me what i used to get such clear skin
This is a great DIY clay mask apart from the essential oil which can be highly irritating and sensitising. Also, you do seem to be scrubbing your face very harshly with the face towel hence why your face looks red afterwards. You can use a face sponge instead to gently swipe away the clay and then wash off with water. After that pat dry with your face towel instead of rubbing :)
I read clay works as it's drying, and should be washed off before it's fully dried cause its no longer effective and only dries out the skin. Also read that you can extend the effective period by misting throughout, but definitely wash off before dried out. Quick tip. :)
The recipe seems good, but is absolutely not good to wait until the masks dry. There is definitely such a thing as leaving a mask on to long. 10 to 15 min is the max. It sucks all the natural oils out of yr face.
Why not ? it is a 15 minutes and do not talk while the mask, only for teaching. Use no more than one in a week or better after 15 days, unless is for acne or other type of problem. On the body according to illness treatment. Clay is very good but can over dry skin.
I love making masks too! I've never thought of putting oil in them. I usually just use clays and witch hazel. My skin loves sea buckthorn oil so I will have to try that! Thanks Marie!
The oil helps keep the mask from getting too tight, which can be really nice if you have more sensitive or dry skin :) Happy making and thanks for watching!
@@zubedadahir119 I make them up as needed. You can try preserving the mask to see if that would extend the shelf life. I use Liquid Germall Plus’s for preservation.
Is the whisk you are stirring with metal ? if so, dooooooooooon't do that! clay absorbs all metals! Always use a plastic or a wooden spoon when handling clay.
also, if you wait 10 till 15 minutes why the mask is still a little wet the redness won't appear as much but the clay will still do it's work (it's active when wet)
From all the reading and research I've done (which is quite a lot!) all I can find is that bentonite clay, when mixed with water, has a charge that can be interfered with when put in contact with metal with an opposing charge. All the other "absorbs metal" information I've found has been "chemicals are evil" blogger fear mongering with no scientific evidence to back it up. If you have any proper studies and scientific info to share I would love to see it! I've been looking for good resources supporting or debunking this and have found nothing reputable.
As long as you dont use a whisk made from lead or arsenic or any other heavy metal that no-one has every made a utlensil from, then you should be fine. The clays sorbent qualities for toxic metals is why we use it. Did you even read the study abstract you sited??? Lol.
These are great videos, and really fun to watch. Very informative, they look very professional, and you are also personable and have a sense of humor! I'm quickly working my way through all your videos, and can't wait to see more :)
Sometimes you can't beat the classics. I don't usually set out to dry out my skin, but sometimes you need a deep pore decongestion, and nothing does that like an oil-less or low-oil clay mask. I have a jar in the bathroom with 89% green clay, 10% honey powder, and 1% aloe powder. My usual emulsified clay mask wasn't getting deep enough, and this stuff delivered. Follow it up with moisturizer, and no harm done by the drying. A little oil is nice for keeping it from shedding off the face as it dries, but I was out of my oil-inclusive powdered masks and I just couldn't be bothered at the moment. But the weather is warming up, so it's time to make fresh batches. Also, a tip for people with combo skin or who don't tolerate much drying: you can just put the mask in the spots that need it. I usually limit these to my nose and chin.
Hi Marie, may i ask, is it okay to mix in a face mask for oily skin, bentonite, dead sea, french green clay with niacinamide and alpha arbutin? What ratio should i use? Thanks in advanced 😊

I'm sure this mask works great for you - you know your body! But just a note for everyone trying this from a licensed esthetician/skin therapist... please research your skin type and ingredients before you make something up. It is important to know WHY you are using certain ingredients and how they effect your skin. Clay masks are not good for all skin types. Certain oils can be pore clogging, and many essential oils should not be used topically on the skin.
Yes! Also, different types/colors of clay. It is a good attempt to show a natural face mask, but indeed, every skin is different therefore needs specific oil and specific clay.

Hey! From all my reading there's really no reason to limit yourself to plastic with any clay other than Bentonite, which does have a charge when combined with water that metal can interfere with.
Thankfully, this isn't true :) What do you think clay is mined with? I interviewed a professor of geology about this myth and he debunked it: www.humblebeeandme.com/bentonite-clay-and-diy-beauty/. Happy making!
I have worked with and researched clays for years, and I have never come across this assertion. The only clay I've ever read reacts at all with metal is bentonite, and that is only when wet, and only with metals with an opposing charge. And even then, the only property that is compromised is the charge, it's not an all-or-nothing loses all properties thing. Do you have a reliable source?
Thank you for the video. Ps : never let the clay dry on your face, it damage your skin you can have a little "pshit" handy with water or tonner to avoid that.

why dont you guys just wash things away? ın turkey we never use washcloths for our face. they are too harsh for face I believe. just wash stuff away in sink.
Hye , do you have any tips to make it in powder mixture to make it long lasting since clay is so hard to handle if we mix it with presevative . Correct me if im wrong . Thank you .
Thanks for watching! I actually interviewed an expert about the "no metals with clay" thing and he confirmed it's a myth. You can read more here: www.humblebeeandme.com/bentonite-clay-and-diy-beauty/. Something else to think about; clay is mined with metal tools, and that doesn't ruin it :)
From a geologist: A microfraction x-ray defraction will identify the composition of the different clays in the clay, and you can then cross reference that with the approximate standard for French green clay. From my aunt: It will speak French! From me: Purchase it from a reputable supplier :)
The entire video length it was making me extremely uncomfortable how she was making faces even when the mask was drying. She was trying to be fun but others imitating or following her would end up with more damage than good while doing the same.
Thankfully that's not true, though it's sure a pervasive myth! I asked an expert-you can read our interview here: www.humblebeeandme.com/bentonite-clay-and-diy-beauty/

Thankfully, this isn't true :) What do you think clay is mined with? I interviewed a professor of geology about this myth and he debunked it: www.humblebeeandme.com/bentonite-clay-and-diy-beauty/. Happy making!
Beautiful...!!!!
Thank you! 🙂
If had done more research you would have known that you cannot use metal with green clay, it lose her properties

Saria looks like it's YOU who should have done more research lol
Thank you for the video.
Ps : never let the clay dry on your face, it damage your skin you can have a little "pshit" handy with water or tonner to avoid that.
That's interesting-do you have any sources to back that up? I've never heard it before.
There is a lot of sources with a little research ^^

You are super smart and super adorable !
Aww, thank you! :)
why dont you guys just wash things away? ın turkey we never use washcloths for our face. they are too harsh for face I believe. just wash stuff away in sink.
wow............. so simple huh
Yeah! There's lots of room for customization but face masks definitely don't have to be complicated :)
Hye , do you have any tips to make it in powder mixture to make it long lasting since clay is so hard to handle if we mix it with presevative . Correct me if im wrong . Thank you .
I've got an FAQ on this :) www.humblebeeandme.com/faqs/can-i-mix-up-a-big-batch-of-this-face-mask-and-use-it-later/
can u diy an australlian pink clay mask that is on viral right now? they said that they sell it too expensive but when u do it its too cheap
I think I already did, back in 2018? Search "pink clay" @ www.humblebeeandme.com/search :)
dont mix clay with metal tools
Thanks for watching!
I actually interviewed an expert about the "no metals with clay" thing and he confirmed it's a myth. You can read more here: www.humblebeeandme.com/bentonite-clay-and-diy-beauty/.
Something else to think about; clay is mined with metal tools, and that doesn't ruin it :)
My skin is more on the drier side so im really worried about using any kind of clay. What can i use ????
You might be more of a sheet mask person-www.humblebeeandme.com/rose-silk-hydrating-sheet-mask/ :)
Can you tell me how to identify real french green clay? I want to try this mask but never know anything about clay >
From a geologist: A microfraction x-ray defraction will identify the composition of the different clays in the clay, and you can then cross reference that with the approximate standard for French green clay.
From my aunt: It will speak French!
From me: Purchase it from a reputable supplier :)
Earth! hehe
You get more wrinkles on your face because you talking when you put face marks ,,it's not good,
Sanju.nadee84 Nadee i guess she talk during the mask on this video lol...
Never ever heard of that......
You shouldn't talk with your clay mask on
The entire video length it was making me extremely uncomfortable how she was making faces even when the mask was drying. She was trying to be fun but others imitating or following her would end up with more damage than good while doing the same.
Dont talk while u have applied this mask
Why did she stick her tongue out it freaked me out
But I like u anyway though
Don't stir it with metal, metal will remove all the nutrients out of the clay
Thankfully that's not true, though it's sure a pervasive myth! I asked an expert-you can read our interview here: www.humblebeeandme.com/bentonite-clay-and-diy-beauty/
