- Leoncito is the newest restaurant to open at Station's Red Rock Casino in Summerlin Las Vegas. Leoncito is bringing classic and modern Mexican food to the Red Rock and it opened just this week on November 7th. As always, I order quite a variety of dishes and together we're going to see what this restaurant is all about.

What's your favorite Mexican restaurant in Las Vegas?
Casa Don Juan is a great Mexican restaurant. A little above average & a close resemblance to good restaurants in Los Angeles CA. It’s somewhat Americanized but the food is plenty good. Chips w/ Bean Salsa & Big Burritos. Great Chili Relleno’s & Hard Shell Tacos 🌮 Order Double Cadillac Margarita’s & Pacifico Beers 🍺. Excelante Amigo’s. Cheers 🍻
So far, Lindo Michoacan. Really good, but I'm still looking for a place to blow me away.
Tacos El Gordo. I crave these tacos when I'm in Vegas. The meat is so flavorful. I am not fond of rice and beans in all of the Mexican food so a BIG plate of tacos hits the spot Yum!😊
The small size of each taco is insane for the price being charged a la carte. That's higher than strip pricing.

I think this restaurant is depending on the people not wanting to leave the property to eat. The prices don't seem competitive at all. Not sure how long that will last with all the other choices in Vegas. If they're going to charges higher prices, they need to deliver with the quality and quantity people expect.
Agree wholeheartedly. People staying at Red Rock, eating off of Station Comps perhaps are the target audience I think. I would hang out at the more lively section of the restaurant for chips and salsa with a drink sometime though instead of eating. The vibe in the restaurant was great. But agreed, I'm curious if that's enough. We'll see how the place does. Thanks for watching!

Agreed, the portions were so small here. I don't typically send back food, though I should sometimes. I can't believe how small the watermelon tostado appetizer was. Three round chips with a bit of watermelon on it. I usually expect Mexican food to be fairly inexpensive and not steakhouse expensive. The tacos looked good and so did the ribeye steak. Thanks for the informative video.
I think that's what makes upscale Mexican a tough business because most see it as cheap eats cuisine. I can get a lunch bag full of tacos for $10 at a local taqueria so it's tough paying upwards of $9 per taco at a place like this for sure. Thanks for watching!
Great review, presentation and production...as usual. I live in Manhattan and this restaurant shocks even me. $95 for that mediocre ribeye is usury. I can go to almost any 5-star white cloth steakhouse in Manhattan and pay far less.
Their menu prices are sinful and insulting, led by that watermelon on a chip.

As a Mexican I will give everyone 2 TIPS. The chips should ALWAYS be freshly made in any restaurant, never from the store. Also, they tortillas should never be ugly, bumpy, dry. Tortillas should be smooth looking, even when they are blue. 😊

I can't speak for other creators but I generally prefer to pay for my own meals. I make these videos not only to inform you all but honestly, because I really enjoy myself making them so that in itself is rewarding for me. We always try at least a couple of “fancy” Mexican lunch 🌮 or dinners when we visit so enjoyed the review even though we were curious about the flaming pineapple 🍍 enjoy the race! 🏎️
I was so disappointed we couldn't see this specialty pineapple! It was only their second day of being open so I was surprised they were out of a handful of dishes (especially something like queso fundido). Every restaurant is a buffet if you're willing to pay. I love that. Too bad about the overdone ribeye, but that bone marrow looked very delicious..
The ribeye definitely got better as we got closer to the center pieces. It was more of the outer slices that were overdone. The bone marrow was quite tasty though. Thanks for watching!
wow that place is expensive! Ronnie from the Howard Stern show had his wedding at Red Rock casino (finally) about 5 weeks ago. I'm really looking forward to the F1 video, I've been a big F1 fan for quite a while and it should be quite a spectacle. Regarding my favorite Mexican restaurant in Vegas, when I went almost 20 years ago I really liked Bonito Michoacan on Decatur.
Red Rock is the premier property for Station casinos and it's quite pricey there for sure. I'll be honest in that I know just about nothing for F1 but I'm looking forward to trying all of the food catered by Wolfgang Puck's company. I think I'll get into the spirt of things once I'm there though. Thanks for watching!

Ive never wandered off the strip for mexican food, but Javiers and Border Grill are my #1 and #2. Hopefully after they're open a bit Leoncito can tweak a few things because the menu looks good.

Agreed, I was disappointed with how many items I wanted to try that were unavailable actually. The specialty pineapple, the queso fundido (seriously, this feels like something that should never run out), and I got the mole poblano because they were out of the chicken milanesa. Thankfully the mole poblano was good but it was surprising how much they didn't have available for their second night. Thanks for watching!
Most of the food looked alright and what not, it's cool that they had mole and it was the southern style mole which is my favorite, but some of the food looked off putting it wasn't anything to scream and shout about😒😒😒 but if I do eat here someday I'll follow your recommendations. Anyway there is a Mexican restaurant in Aria called Javier's dont eat there the food is only okay, small portion sizes, and it's expensive as hell so avoid it if you can I almost went there before but others deterred me from doing so we'll catch you on the next video.😋😋😋😋

The hard shell shrimp tacos were my favorite and I agree it needed more shrimp flavor. Also you said the birria was beef, it’s actually lamb. The flan was good too.

Agreed with you, I wouldn't tell anyone to put this on their must try list for a Vegas visit. I think those staying at Red Rock who don't care to leave the property can get some good tasting food, but hopefully the slot machines were kind to them first lol. Thanks for watching!

Love fish tacos! My absolute favorite. The best I had was at an AYCE BBQ place in a small town in Ontario. The restaurant closed which is really too bad. They made good food. The tacos had fried, battered fish with amazing coleslaw. Ahhh... memories. I'm a bit meh on this restaurant though. Maybe not going on my must try list when I'm in Vegas.

Hi Wayne, Red Rock does have some really great eats. I haven't been to Javier's on the channel but I've eaten at the one in Southern California a handful of times. I believe that video is actually on the schedule pretty soon. Sometime in the first quarter of 2024 so you'll see it soon! La Tablita, haven't tried it before but I'll keep it in mind when I go. Bad sign if you are out of signature dishes on Opening Week. Overall not impressed. I love Red Rock Canyon and Summerlin and always stay in that area when I visit. Restaurants out there usually rock.

Great review. The food here seems very overpriced which is kind of sad. Station casinos use to be the place to ho for value but this seems to no longer be the case. I get that Red Rock and Green Valley are higher end but the fact that you got 3 chips for that watermelon tostads seems like horrible horrible value. Do you ever do reviews of Boyd properties? If so what is the value like over there? I have heard good things on the Sam's Town steak house.
Agreed, value proposition for quantity of food is low here. The watermelon tostada really set the tone for the rest of the meal lol. In regards to Boyd properties, I recently made a video from the Market Street Cafe at the California Hotel. Value wise this doesn't even compare; You get so much more food there. But it's not exactly and apples to apples comparison. I haven't tried the Sam's Town steakhouse but I'll add it to my list! Thanks for watching!
The decor and ambience is gorgeous. However this would be a pass for me. The prices for what you received was way out of line. The portion sizes were tiny except for a few. Opening day or newly opened and they are already out of their featured drink plus an Appetizer? The color of the tortilla was a major turn off as it was not a very appetizing color. That fish taco looked like it only had about 1 Tbs total of fish on it. The food portions, the visuals and the horrible music did not match the beautiful decor. $50 for a cocktail? I would never spend $344 + on Mexican food when down the street is probably 10 x better for a fraction of the price. Thanks for the review and video Shin!

I was very disappointed that they were out of dishes on their 2nd day. I really wanted to see this flaming pineapple and to not have queso fundido was wild. It's cheese, beef, and spices. I do like blue corn tortillas though. They're typically a little bit sweeter and nuttier than your standard tortilla. Thanks for watching!

Yeah, those prices woooo. 45$ for Hawaiian prawns - THEY Better be from Hawaii and not just soaked in Pineapple. As for the sides 12$ for that Spanish Rice at 13:27 is a disgrace. I have seen better come out of Uncle Ben's Spanish rice packets. Unless I had player points or food credits, based on this video, I would pass. Not that you made it sound bad is just what I saw the prices did not match the food portions coming out with some quality issues. If they are charging for the Vases on the wall I can go to Ikea and see that. I think the portion sizes is a major no thank you. They charge a lot and skimp on what they give you. Even the desert looked like it was shaved in half to maximize profit. 372.81 for 4 is HIGH for any upscale Mexican Place. They are literally charging you to reinvent the wheel. * I do love roasting these places that overcharge because of ambiance. Love you - SHIN and thank you for your content. You are helping me avoid the tourist trap restaurants like this when I go there in 3 months. But some of the ones you have visited I will be going too. LOVE YOUR CHANNEL!

When I saw the watermelon tostadas, I understood what I was in for and mentally prepared for the rest of the meal lol. The most successful upscale Mexican that comes to mind is Javier's at the Aria and I don't think Leoncito quite hits that bar. Agree with you, that upscale Mexican requires a ton of technique. Thanks for watching!

I hate the fancy Mexican spots that try to justify the overpriced prices just because the interior of their restaurants are modern looking. Those taco prices are extra ridiculous for 1 freaking taco... 1! Got to be careful in Vegas thinking high prices equals the best quality taste.
It was for two tacos but that doesn't make the value proposition that much higher. Vegas is definitely expensive though this one is tougher to swallow because it's off strip. Red Rock is one of the nicest off strip properties though. Thanks for watching!

Super dim restaurants are not my fave. Hard to see your food and more difficult for disabled patrons 😕 I put up with it for a Michelin restaurant in SF but it was still distracting.

Consider he only spent that much because I guarantee he split the bill with his brother n law and he probably has a discount from gambling st that hotel so he probably only spent $200 or less, worth every penny for a great night out with family
Lol no, my friends and family typically eat free when they come along for a video. I only order this much for TH-cam to give viewers a good idea of what the restaurant has to offer. Off camera, I'm usually eating McDonald's or Panda Express. I'm not all that high up at Station casinos for comps quite yet, but if I have comp dollars available at the particular resort I'm making a video at, I'll use them. But my TH-cam earnings cover the majority of my video costs and so I'm only putting in about $100-$200 of my own money most months nowadays. It's the $700+tip steakhouse videos that put big dents in my wallet for the month. Hopefully the channel grows big enough to cover those as well and I can start running in the black.
