  • A common problem with BMWs. This video may help you root cause your problem. Compares aux input directly to an iPhone to aux input to a Bluetooth module. Can see the connection on the radio disappear.

Same here. Installed a factory Aux cable on an 04' 325xi. Aux works great when connected directly to the headphone jack of my iphone6. When aux is plugged into a AUKEY Bluetooth Receiver it will play for 5-10 minutes, then switch to FM. Like the previous comment mentioned I think it has to do with the iphone headphone jack resisteance or voltage compared to the Line out on the blue tooth receiver. I wish I could figure this out.

Robert Burt I have your exact problem plugged into an iPad directly. It's resistance related, I just can't figure out what the hell's going on though.

We think we may have discovered the problem. It's the BT devices that are the issue. The output voltage from the BT device to the Aux is too high or resistance (within the radio) is too low. We tried installing a Soundbot SB360 and duplicated the same exact conditions cited in Mike's video. What we are attempting now are voltage checks with and without BT installed to pin point the cause. We are working this issue real time (3/10/2018 16.43hrs). Once we get the voltage data we will post.

Having a similar issue except I can't get it to work when I plug in to aux from sirius xm. Aux works fine when I plug in my Android but as soon as I connect sirius xm, aux disappears. I think it is something with the volume. My reasoning is sirius xm aux output has no volume control like my android. I was going to hook up a Bluetooth adapter but I can see that it has no volume control and would not be any better. Any ideas would be helpful.

I have the same head unit business CD player in my 04 bmw 325xi and I used the oem aux cable but the head unit when I selected mode it does not show aux, it goes from tuner to CD only.

Ever find a way to fix this? Just upgraded the tape deck in my E46 to a business CD with the hopes of using a Bluetooth adapter but the same thing happens to me as what's depicted in your video...

+XavierBK I was never able to sort it out. I moved to a straight aux input. My bluetooth was from Exile Audio, it has great sound quality but also has a higher than average voltage output on the RCA plugs so that could be the reason for the problem. Other bluetooths make work OK...
