If only these features were widely made available 40 years ago when the bulk of participants were still around to enrich by contributing to these stories.

Ok time at 8:08 of this video, it says by first daylight 2:45 am? Can someone explain. What happened here. This is a typo and this is an AI voice recording. Anyone...?

If it bothers you so much - yes it is a typo, and you are correct; it is the AI-generated voice I'm using as a voiceover in my videos.

Very detailed & informative. Could have done without the ads, from various "sasquaches" selling militia/survivalist gear.

Thank you! Just one slight remark; I have nothing to do with the ads that appear during the video. It is something YT set randomly.

13:06-13:19 Damn..... Just imagine how different things would've been if those beaches had been defended by Japanese soldiers 😮🤐💀

I understand that invading Italy took the Italians out of the war, but the Italians weren't that big of a threat in that war. But by invading Italy the allied commander committed the same sin that the Persians did against the 300 at Thermopolis. I would have thought that an invasion of southern France would have been better. More open area to allow our numbers to work for us. Just my thoughts from an armchair general.

Your applying tactical thought from 400BC to modern warfare. If you had any strategy about you you'd see the waters surrounding Italy were it's disadvantage, considering the Allied Naval and air advantages.

@@matthewdelaney1422 Well maybe my reality has slipped into another reality. But didn't the Germans stop us at Monte Casino and hold us there until we made a landing at Anzio, which the General was a beached whale. Now we weren't fighting with swards and spears, we were fighting with artillery and Tanks and rifle. Which can cover a larger area, so they block us form maneuvering around their defenses just like the Persians couldn't get around the Greek defenses at Hells Gate. I don't know but that seems a feasible comparison..

The Italians absolutely were a big threat in WW2.
We think of them nowadays as pushovers, but that's mostly because the Germans had the chance to blame any losses on the Italians instead of themselves.
What did make the Italians weak(er) was a massive lack in industrial output and natural resources - they just had shittier gear.
But, if you look at the actions undertaken by their well-trained troops, they usually did much better than you'd expect based on their equipment...
So they absolutely were not toothless, and shouldn't be underestimated.
Nevertheless, this combination is actually what made them the perfect "low-hanging fruit."
All those bodies and all those factories (not enough to win but still plenty to be a headache) could be taken offline.
And it could be done much easier than Germany, or another Axis power (in the Balkans/Eastern Europe).
So on that front it was a solid idea.
It just failed to take into account that Italy is basically one massive mountain range, and that's a total nightmare to have to attack...
So in a way it's really unfortunate that the Germans responded quickly enough to man a frontline wayyy south of the most-industrial northern regions....
Still, even though I personally would argue that it wasn't worth the Allied losses to push north through Italy, I cannot deny that it kept in place a lot of German troops that could've made a big difference during the D-Day in France (and perhaps somewhere on the Eastern Front too, but it's much harder to say which engagement there was _so_ dependent on force size).
Anyhow, sorry for the long (and late) comment - I wish you a very happy day ^^
