Steffen Bale Grapple

I bought a lightly used Steffen bale grapple recently to help alleviate all the manual labor involved with stacking bales. Here it is in action. I think it's possible to pick up ten bales at a time but I would need to make tighter bales.
Used the bale grapple with the JD 300.

The pivoting 'feature' is interesting. Not sure I am liking that part, but sure beats lifting them off manually!

I’m in PA, was researching the Steffen bale accumulator and grabber. Do you still recommend the system ?

I can't speak for the accumulator personally, though I wish I had one. The grapple works great but it's a very simple design and there are other brands that work just as well. I'd base your decision off of the size of your tractor and the size of your hay fields. I'd imagine the accumulators can be tough in small fields with tight corners. Also if your tractor can handle it, i'd recommend an eight bale grapple. Mine is nice to squeeze into tight spots but loading is slow since I'm only able to pick up five or six bales.

Maybe you need to mount a cylinder to keep it from flopping

@@jimcox6687 It swivels so that it can form to the angle of the bales. It is handy if the trailer is parked on a slope for example.
