    I recall Mr. Nutz has a boss which is a detailed giant face which has this freaky attack where he pops his eyeballs out at you, but he has like, a stock of a million eyeballs and they keep reloading in his sockets
    Very bizarre

    3:12 - So, that's actually a real gun, a rather unsuccessful submachinegun made by Jatimatic. It's fitted with a weird late 70s/early 80s laser sight, which is why it looks so weird.

    All I know of Red Heat is there's a scene where Arnold pours cocaine out of a prosthetic leg and, with a weird serious face, just says "Cocainum!"

    20:32 I watched this video a month or two ago and I thought Mighty Max looked familiar. Then today I watched the JonTron episode on Mighty Max and I thought it looked familiar. And it just occured to me a few minutes ago what happened. I forgot that the JonTron video existed when I had watched this, and I remembered this video when I randomly rewatched the JonTron video. And I gotta say, it is crazy to think that I think both this vid and JonTron did great jobs covering this game and in some ways I prefer this video. Like I feel like normally oldschool JonTron is on a bar, so the fact that there's even a comparison is high praise for this video. Gotta say, big kudos to ol Stu here. Hell yeah.

  • @chaospoet
    @chaospoet 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Mighty Max was the one that offended me the most back in the day. I was a huge fan of the cartoon. The villain was basically Skeletor on steroids, a million time more evil, actually outsmarted the good guys and won sometimes, had a giant genuinely badass fire breathing dragon, had no compunction about killing children, stole people's souls in a way that would make Shang Tsung and Freddy Kruger insanely jealous and was voiced by Tim Curry! And the good guys weren't half bad either. Not nearly as cool, but then again nothing could be. The main character Max was kind of, sort of a young Indiana Jones knowledgable with history and puzzles to a degree and had the power to open portals to teleport to different parts of the world. He had a wise old talking Fowl (because reasons) to guide him and an immortal warrior to guard him who was every heroic legend you ever heard of from Hercules to Lancelot.
    That's the source material they had to work with. And they made THAT! I'm still pissed about it. 20 years from now I'll be pissed about it. That game was unforgivable!

  • @FarelForever
    @FarelForever 2 ปีที่แล้ว +9

    Hey Stu, this was another fun video, but I would like to offer some constructive criticism (which you are free to ignore):
    You create videos where you often cover either one or several games. This is the approach that works for you, and I enjoy it, but I feel like this episode didn't have a strong theme. The unifying element of all these games was the development company, about whom you only spoke for like 90 seconds, and then you went to the games, and covered one after the other. I get that approach, and I do re-iterate: I enjoyed the video, but I grow concerned over whenever or not I'll ever come back to this one.
    I have rewatched several of your old videos because of something that made them stand out, and just going through your video list, looking at the thumbnail made me go "Oh yeah, that one was fun!".
    These compilation videos aren't as unique, and I can't for the life of me remember what happens in them a few months down the line, with all of them blending together in my brain, as you've been putting out several of them in the past few months.
    So that's my criticism: good content, but I worry that this video format makes the videos stand out less if the shared element of the games isn't that remarkable.

    • @StuartKReilly
      @StuartKReilly  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      So what you're saying is the reviewing a bunch of games in one go format
      isn't really working? See, I thought it was. And thats why I need
      people like you to tell me otherwise. I can change it up next video.
      Maybe do just one game. Because honestly the compilation videos are a
      lot of hard work and if its not paying off then there's no need for me to do them.

    • @FarelForever
      @FarelForever 2 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      @@StuartKReilly I do wish to underline that you don't need to restrict yourself completely . But I did notice a shift in your content in the last half a year, where some of the videos stand out less.
      You don't need to necessarily restrict yourself to 1 game per video either (your videos on Inspector Gadget or Army Man games are superb after all), but undeniably "Less is more".

    • @NGB1122
      @NGB1122 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      IDK that seems really over critical. I get your concern, but I don't think it's as big an issue as you make it out to be.

    • @traewilson5127
      @traewilson5127 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@FarelForever I think the issue is this video specifically didn't do much to really examine Ocean; it boiled down to "gee these guys sure sucked huh? Anyway here's RoboCop" which doesn't really get into why their games so often came out shoddy junk.
      LJN for instance didn't make shit games just to make shit games, you know? It was a side gig for them they didn't care as much about compared to their main interest: creating toys. Hence why they put more effort into game peripherals than the actual games themselves. Modern Konami just straight up gave up on console gaming, so now their few console releases are trash, and they put more effort into their gacha games because they love your money and hate everything else about you. But that's not how they always were, you know?
      When doing any kind of company retrospective it's important to look at how the philosophy of the company influences their output. But I don't think that'd be very funny. Informative, sure! Not funny. It's a dilemma.

    i just wondering are you canadian?
    i used to really like ocean on the amiga in the early-mid nineties as their logo usually meant a good game.
    maybe i just got lucky in what i've picked to play or was lucky to have an amiga after 92, but back then i really saw ocean as a constant and reliable provider of good lookin and good playing fun.
    between 93-96 they released some really good and even some major games on the amiga.
    there was an ocean logo at the start of worms, alien breed 3d, jurassic park, jungle strike, mr nutz, kid chaos, the speris legacy, etc... i did know about their bad movie games but move games were supposed to be shit, everybody knew that so you pirated them, played them once then used the disk(s) to store your own modules and samples instead.
