Countertransference! It has been my experience that when a therapist can't work through their countertransference the therapy always fails. You nailed it when you said "try to be aware of our own feelings and that way the feelings won't have a life of their own"

Why is it that ECT comes to mind when a person first thinks of a psychiatrist? wasn't this first used in neurology which is a different medical field but both are the study of the nerves system and both are normally found at the rare of a hospital.

As far as I know ECT from the start was used for psychiatric problems.

@@goertzpsychiatry9340 , wasn’t it designed by Lucio Bini he was a psychiatrist you are right, but I think it was also used for epilepsy early on.

Hello Sir, I truly appreciate you and this channel. I have a question, do psychiatrists ever request head CT's or any form of radio-imaging when assessing or diagnosing potential psychiatric disorders? Im just curious if there are limitations when assessing these disorders, because as an aspiring psychiatrist, I want to ensure I can request/perform any tests if necessary.

Thank you Isaiah! Yes, psychiatrists can order head CTs.
