Why is it that ECT comes to mind when a person first thinks of a psychiatrist? wasn't this first used in neurology which is a different medical field but both are the study of the nerves system and both are normally found at the rare of a hospital.

I have a question, do psychiatrists ever request head CT's or any form of radio-imaging when assessing or diagnosing potential psychiatric disorders? Im just curious if there are limitations when assessing these disorders, because as an aspiring psychiatrist, I want to ensure I can request/perform any tests if necessary.

As far as I know ECT from the start was used for psychiatric problems.
@@goertzpsychiatry9340 , wasn’t it designed by Lucio Bini he was a psychiatrist you are right, but I think it was also used for epilepsy early on.
